About South Brooklyn Medical Associates

They offer medication management support, medical and mental health assessments, and medical care. You’ll also engage in individual and group counseling and recovery education to support your long term sobriety.

Medication assisted treatment helps those in opioid recovery manage their cravings, deal with withdrawal symptoms, and reduce their relapse risk. If you need more robust supervision and support they can refer you to an inpatient facility.

I think it’s great that they offer employment services to patients who are ready to transition out of higher intensity treatment. This helps people reintegrate into their homes and communities with a greater sense of self worth, independence, and empowerment

Sounds like this place has gone way down hill in the past 7 years. Based on reviews. People who come here for intake are pretty vulnerable and need to be told the correct information over the phone... HOWEVER Someone told my roommate, over the phone to "come when he could" well within their STATED hours of operation. Then when he arrived within the hours they CLAIM to do intake, He was told we are "short staffed" and it would "TAKE WEEKS" and turned him away. Seemingly permanently! Like "get out of here we can't help you" and Bye! Huh? Totally unprofessional and confusing! So why even answer your phone and tell ANYONE to come there "when you can" between 9am-11am three days a week, And then turn them away? What sense does that even make? And it costs a 2-way subway ride which they did not reimburse....based on THEIR misinformation. Give the right information over the phone, don't waste people's time! Especially since the staff knows their clientele are very sick without medication! South Brooklyn Medical Associates. And look! Staff doesn't feel the need to respond to any reviews! These people make their living helping the people they are PAID to help! First...give the right info over the phone. I find this VERY STRANGE! My roommate comes from a state in America where people still SEEM to care and still do the jobs they are paid to do. He got so much good help in his home state. So he was VERY surprised, sad & upset when he got back home from SOUTH BROOKLYN MEDICAL ASSOCIATES without the help he was PROMISED over the phone. He just went to his bed. This is sheer random carelessness and the human damage. South Brooklyn Medical Associates does damage now in 2025, to the human beings they claim to be there to help? The humans they are paid to help? How sad. This place needs an audit....looks "private" but also takes government money? Who holds these clinics to account? Maybe they will just read this review and change all on their own? It takes a lot of courage for an addict to ask for help..A LOT! Is South Brooklyn Medical Associates helping addicts with their intake or giving people in active addiction BS info over the phone? Then, upon arrival, telling them go away and not much hope so don't return? Because we CAN'T help you and we don't want to help you?...or something? What's the heck is going on at this place? This place sounds SO sketchy Please respond with your experience in reviews of this a weird place? Yes we are new and we might not understand. Please help us figure this place out? Thanks.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Clients in rehab aftercare programs receive a customized portfolio of services designed to promote their sustained sobriety. These clients have completed high-level treatment, are typically exiting detox and/or intensive inpatient care and are reintegrating into their home, workplace, and community. Rehab aftercare services address addiction disease as a chronic condition requiring continuing care. Clients typically work with case managers and recovery teams to access necessary resources, such as peer coaching and 12 step program induction support.

A drug intervention in New York occurs when family members and friends lovingly confront someone with a substance use disorder. The goal of this confrontation is to motivate the person to seek treatment. Loved ones point out how the person's destructive behavior is affecting them in hopes that they will agree to get help. Most inpatient rehab facilities offer intervention services that can help families walk through this process step by step.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Men and women receive emotional support from their peers during group therapy sessions. These are typically people who face the same struggles that you do. This exposure fosters a sense of camaraderie and community while reducing feelings of isolation and loneliness that often accompany addiction.

Men and women in New York undergoing one on one individual therapy for drug and alcohol addiction treatment will address the unique psychological and emotional aspects that are often associated with addiction triggers. Your therapist helps you build a relapse prevention plan and set achievable goals to improve your mental health and achieve long term sobriety.

Introduced in 1983, motivational interviewing is a method to help clients commit to change. It's based on the philosophy that change is hard, and clients must explore their own options and come to their own conclusions rather than receive warnings or advice from the therapist.

Accreditations

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is a branch of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Established in 1992 by congress, SAMHSA's mission is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on American's communities.
