About South Brooklyn Medical Associates

South Brooklyn Medical Services – Methadone is an outpatient opioid recovery center in Brooklyn, New York. They are part of Cogency Integrated Healthcare. They offer low cost medication assisted treatment to adults 21 and up. They accept Medicaid and offer a needs based, sliding payment scale.

They offer medication management support, medical and mental health assessments, and medical care. You’ll also engage in individual and group counseling and recovery education to support your long term sobriety.

Medication assisted treatment helps those in opioid recovery manage their cravings, deal with withdrawal symptoms, and reduce their relapse risk. If you need more robust supervision and support they can refer you to an inpatient facility.

I think it’s great that they offer employment services to patients who are ready to transition out of higher intensity treatment. This helps people reintegrate into their homes and communities with a greater sense of self worth, independence, and empowerment

In the 5 months Ive been here, My experience with this clinic so far has been good. Some people may be shallow and think they're above this clinic in terms of the people attending it (people of color and lower socioeconomic status) and general aesthetics. To be fair and speak on behalf of rhe clinic, this clinic does not discriminate against its choice in clients and along with that has a very relaxing atmosphere. I never felt like I was dealing with Authoritarians figures that enjoyed ruining other peoples day, rather just humble people doing a service for the community of people needing help.I enjoyed my interactions with the staff. It has decent counselors, nurse practictioners, doctors, and staff on board that tend to be accomadating and work with you, so long as you're not trying to game the system with any ulterior motives. As this is a private clinic, they will accept most insurances (I have Medicaid provided by Healthfirst) and accept cash payments.*My only warning for people who barely get to your appointments on time is to make sure they prioritize getting to the clinic on time because once the clock strikes the moment that it's closed, it's done. That's fair to the people operating it.*Otherwise I just want to throw in last that this clinic is very awesome. No regrets about attending here.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients in rehab aftercare programs receive a customized portfolio of services designed to promote their sustained sobriety. These clients have completed high-level treatment, are typically exiting detox and/or intensive inpatient care and are reintegrating into their home, workplace, and community. Rehab aftercare services address addiction disease as a chronic condition requiring continuing care. Clients typically work with case managers and recovery teams to access necessary resources, such as peer coaching and 12 step program induction support.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
A drug intervention in New York occurs when family members and friends lovingly confront someone with a substance use disorder. The goal of this confrontation is to motivate the person to seek treatment. Loved ones point out how the person's destructive behavior is affecting them in hopes that they will agree to get help. Most inpatient rehab facilities offer intervention services that can help families walk through this process step by step.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Men and women receive emotional support from their peers during group therapy sessions. These are typically people who face the same struggles that you do. This exposure fosters a sense of camaraderie and community while reducing feelings of isolation and loneliness that often accompany addiction.

Men and women in New York undergoing one on one individual therapy for drug and alcohol addiction treatment will address the unique psychological and emotional aspects that are often associated with addiction triggers. Your therapist helps you build a relapse prevention plan and set achievable goals to improve your mental health and achieve long term sobriety.

Introduced in 1983, motivational interviewing is a method to help clients commit to change. It's based on the philosophy that change is hard, and clients must explore their own options and come to their own conclusions rather than receive warnings or advice from the therapist.

Accreditations

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is a branch of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Established in 1992 by congress, SAMHSA's mission is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on American's communities.

Been here for many many years. And I'm okay with it. Friendly and helpful staff. Nurses are kind and everyone understanding. Sometimes a crowd at certain times of day. It's too a no smoking facility. Ox.
