My husband is a current patient and due to the "phones being down", he's not been able to call. I say this is quotes because that's what multiple nurses told me, yet the therapist over him was able to call from the same number my husband has been using, so it raised red flags. I just called about an hour ago to ask if I could still come visit on Sunday, due to them sedating him two days ago and was told his pin number was wrong so they couldn't tell me anything. This is the same pin number that I've been using since he got there. If it changed, why wasn't I notified or why wasn't I told when the therapist called? This place is an absolute joke. I wouldn't send my worst enemy here.

I recently got let out I only seen the doctor once. Most of the techs and nurses were great. It was very cold and you weren't allowed to bring your paper thin blanket with you anywhere. I was under the impression I was only gonna be there for 24-48 hrs but that was a lie I was in for a week you have to get a doctor's order for: gatorade extra blankets supplements like ensure and even then you are limited how many you could have I was in a room with a violent person 2x. The techs come in your room every 15 mins or so at night so hard to get good restful sleep I do not feel I got the help I needed I had to lie just so I could be released they took me off my seizure meds and would not give them to me I could go on about the issues I experienced. They will prob have their automatic answer at end of my post I would rather commit suicide than return to this place that is not sarcasm.

**Update** This review was up for 3 hours before I got a phone call back from Emmanuel with a plan of discharge followed by a phone call from my daughter to let me know they’ve lost her Nike Dunks. My daughter is currently inpatient on day 7 of what is supposed to be a 7-10 day stay. I've called since day 2 to speak to the case manager and left two messages a day for Emmanuel to call me back to discuss next steps for her care. He actually picked up on day 4 and told me he "didn't have time to talk right now". He later did call back and left a voicemail saying he knew exactly what I needed and he'd call me today by noon. I've yet to hear from him. I've left a message for Dr. Kahn to call me since Day 3 as well and have yet to hear back from him either. As far as being taken care of, she seems to be getting on track for medications but they're allowed to sleep through group if they choose and as of yesterday she hadn't had any one on one therapy. They also told me twice that she had all of the toiletries that she needed only for me to find that she was borrowing from a roommate. They didn't even give her a toothbrush. On day two I received a phone voicemail from a nurse saying she had fallen and hit her head so I called back to check on her and they said she was sleeping. When I asked why she was sleeping if she just hit her head they opened the notes and read the note that said she had NOT hit her head. I told them either the nurse calling me wasn't right or their note needed to be corrected but either way something wasn't right. The tech on the call with me went to get another lady that was with her when she fell and I heard her conversation to the lady on the phone saying that she in fact DID hit her head. It just wasn't documented properly. We trust these people with our children's lives....literally. And there's little to no correct communication. I'm extremely disappointed.

Accepted Insurance

East Tennessee Behavioral Health & Addiction Treatment works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient

Inpatient rehabs are designed principally for clients who require intensive supervision and support, including clients who have just completed detox, clients in early recovery, and clients at an elevated risk of relapse. Inpatient treatment helps clients stabilize following detox and prepares them to step-down into outpatient and/or community-based care. Clients reside at the facility for the duration of their program and engage in extensive addiction counseling and education. Many programs also offer evidence-based complementary therapies.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Clients in intensive outpatient programs (IOP) receive robust, personalized care to support their reintegration into their community. Clients stepping down from inpatient treatment frequently enroll in IOP before entering standard outpatient care or community-based recovery programs, such as AA. Intensive outpatient treatment generally involves between nine and 20 therapeutic hours weekly, with the frequency and duration of sessions decreasing as clients stabilize. IOP services commonly include counseling, recovery education, holistic therapies, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is an intensive outpatient option for those with moderate to severe addictions, allowing you to return home at the end of the day. It can be an alternative to hospitalization or used as a step-down option. PHP treatment requires a minimum of 20 hours of treatment per week for an average of 90 days. Depending on your needs, PHP treatment includes relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy services. PHP treatment is often covered by providers.

Treatments

Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is a treatable condition characterized by uncontrolled consumption of alcohol which continues despite negative consequences. Treatment options for alcohol addiction include inpatient or outpatient alcohol rehab in Tennessee. Therapeutic methods include group and individual therapy, medication, and holistic therapies. Aftercare is often provided through 12-step support groups, which offer ongoing accountability and encouragement.

When your day-to-day life is taken over by drug use, this is known as substance use disorder. If you abruptly stop using your drug of choice, you experience withdrawal symptoms. To overcome this cycle, professional drug rehab in Tennessee is usually needed.

mental-health iconMental Health And Substance Abuse
opium iconOpioid Addiction

Substance abuse treatment in Tennessee is available in addiction treatment centers, where experienced addiction professionals can treat both substance use disorders. Typically, clinicians use a range of evidence-based therapies such as a biopsychosocial assessment, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing to get a complete picture of your mental health, support systems, and motivation to change. Through an individualized treatment plan, you'll receive the support you need to achieve long-term sobriety through new skills and relapse prevention strategies.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
teen-program thumbnail image

Teen Program

Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.

Clinical Services

Men and women in Tennessee undergoing one on one individual therapy sessions focus on understanding their unique needs and challenges. They do this under the guidance of an experienced therapist who can help you identify and address addiction triggers as well as create personalized relapse prevention plans. This offers you a customized path to a successful recovery journey.

In Tennessee, group therapy sessions for drug and alcohol addiction typically involve skill development to help you learn communication techniques and relapse prevention strategies. These strategies support your transition into the community and help you maintain long term sobriety.

Family therapy uses a structured environment to address the complexities of addiction and the negative influences it has on the family unit. Therapists work with family members to develop effective coping and communication strategies that support their loved one's recovery while also focusing on the health and well being of each family member.

I had a very disturbing experience with Shannon from the billing department. My son was abruptly transported here from a retreat facility and I was unaware. The first phone call I received from the any staff was Shannon from the billing department aggressively asking for 1K copay. Me thinking it was fraud I refused to give any information over the phone. She was very aggressive and rude. I then found out he was at this facility and tried to contact a supervisor and no one contacted me back. I then spoke to Shannon again to give additional insurance coverage information and expressed my previous concerns with our first interactions and she continued to brush me off and abruptly disconnected our call. Extremely unprofessional and a terrible interaction to add to an already difficult circumstances.

I haven't read the comments as I just wanted to share my views without being tainted. We received the 3 week bill of $48,000 for my daughter to have a social sleep party. She came home with no treatment options, no home care instructions, and no coping skills. She said they only had group rarely and people were allowed to play their own music. They had a quiet room that some of the patients used to scream or sing very loud. She had to step in several times to stop budding tantrums from patients. The staff did nothing but look on without a care. These staff members are untrained in how to deal with teenagers that are in need of real mental care. $48,000 x 20 teens we saw at vists equals $960,000. Why do they not have structured care witch is the leading technique to help those with mental issues. Setting a routine is key. However, my daughter was allowed to sleep in whenever she wanted and not participate at will. During one visit the staff member told us that several staff have quit due to the horrible conditions with the kids. She was sent over as a hard ball that doesn't take their bad behavior. With teenagers, their is special care needed to handle the various situations. Why is this facility open if they can't give quality care to the patients in their darkest hour? How are we as parents supposed to deal with a large bill that made our daughter worse than when she went into the hospital? DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY

My daughter is currently in here right now as I type for unsafe behaviors. I am surprised there are so many bad reviews to be honest. These people cannot help everyone because it is choices sometimes that cause us to enter places like this. But, The communication is a little light because I am sure they are very busy (they call me when they need to tell me something). They always call me when there is a change or a change to medication. They always answer the phone and point me to the correct location. Visitation is always right and on schedule. The doctors there I believe try to get them on the right meds because they change my daughters' medications to different ones and decreased her Mg on her old ones to wean her off of them to put her on the other ones. The lady Tiffany in case management is awesome. She put in referrals to residential treatment for longer stay for my daughter and communicated with me well by email and by phone about each step along the way. I would give them more than a 5 star. Us parents go through a lot when we are having to get treatment for our children, and it is nice to have someone on our side too. I even had a nurse take 5 min out of her day to give me some advice. "Not to worry". That she was safe and that was all that mattered. To "take care of myself and the other kids". This made me feel so much better too. I appreciate all of the work these people put in to help my child during her mental health times and support to us parents who need the kind words to get us through it. I cannot thank them enough for helping me when needed as well. It is very easy to get into here! I called and made a time of arrival to admissions. They were so kind to my daughter and myself when we got there too. This is her 4th time going there and I will always go there if needed again!

I worked at ETNBH for almost 2 years. Over that period of time, I watched the hospital grow. But growth doesn’t always mean improvement. The turnover is incredibly high, which often led to units being short-staffed, affecting the quality of care given to the patients. It seemed that pushing meds was the top priority, instead of developing an after-care plan with follow up. At times, when there weren’t enough beds available, a patient experiencing suicidal thoughts would be placed in a room with a patient in psychosis who was hearing voices or possibly hallucinating. Completely terrifying them, & defeating the purpose of their stay. The adolescent unit is typically complete chaos. There are never enough staff to properly supervise what goes on, & if the kids don’t end up hurting each other, they’re swapping Snapchat information so they can be friends after they are discharged. When it comes to the geriatric unit, it is so disorienting, the patients only seem to get worse. You can’t see out of windows on the units, & they never get to go outside due to constantly being short staffed. I know ETNBH has a mission to help people, but it’s definitely not working.

I have a parent in their care currently. The staff are unable to answer any questions and just give you the run around. Every question I've had, they have been unable to answer. Simple things like a diagnosis, a care plan, possibility of release or timing there of. Things that we need an answer about. Apparently there isn't a single person there that knows anything about the patients, their mental health concerns, or what is going to happen when they are released. Or if there is, they refuse to answer the phone or return phone calls. I have never seen a more poorly run facility with more useless and incompetent staff. The lack of communication is unprofessional and dangerous to their patients and their families. I intend to report them to the Tennessee Health Facilities Commission and the Tennessee Department of Health, and I suggest anyone else who has been unlucky enough to have a loved one placed there do so as well.

This hospital was the worst mental health treatment I've ever gotten. Every single bad review is accurate. The staff is truly, truly awful. We have little to no groups and no 1 on 1 counseling, there's also no schedule other than the meal times. Children have meltdowns in front of staff and they sit and watch. We beg and beg for our needs to be met but the the staff DOES NOT LISTEN. There is no compassion in this facility from staff. It also took them days to get my belongings, and I ended up leaving this facility without shoes, my Birkenstocks because they were given to another patent! Don't even bring your child any belongings because they will be lost or not given to them. If your child needs real treatment, I HIGHLY do NOT recommend this horrible place.
