Went in to ER because I couldn't walk on my foot. The triage nurse was the best experience of the whole night. The rest of the nurses, and staff were rude, and in a complete rush. NP came in and said I needed x-rays. X-rays were taken, and a Dr came in and said he didn't see anything broken and it would be 4 hours before the radiologist read them and then walked out. A nurse (no name given) came in with a walking boot and crutches. She didn't show me how to use the boot, didn't tighten it or put air in it and didn't tell me how long I would need it for, how to use it, or anything. Came back with discharge papers, had me sign them and sent me on my way. I still can't walk, my ankle and foot are still swollen and bruised and I got a text from Giant Eagle telling me I had a prescription ready which was for medicine from the ER Dr for medicine I'm allergic to. Waiting now to see an Ortho. Will never go here again - I'll make the drive to AGH or anywhere else up toward the city.

Absolute joke, went in for a CT scan 3 weeks ago and still no one has looked at the results. I needed this for a VA appointment that I waited 6 months for and had to cancel because of these incompetent people.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

UPDATE: ..I went back 2 days later because my problem wasn't resolved the first time I went...I have normal blood pressure & it had spiked super high twice..The Saturday afternoon Emergency Room Crew couldn't have been more professional & kind & I believe we may have resolved my problem..Thank You! First Visit: I had a heart test at the ER the young woman who did it was cold and uncaring. She left a the sticky pads on me, never told me I was finished. I asked that the IV or blood work be done for my hands because it's always difficult to find my veins I had to go to the bathroom for urine test and it was a little difficult to wash my hands, I went to the desk and asked for hand sanitizer they all looked at me cross-eyed and was told but you're the one that wanted the iv in your hands so at that point I said to her I see I'm being punished for that now. The doctor was nice enough but was in there for a short period of time started to tell me things she got a phone call left and never came back I had to ask a Nurse if I was done. I never really got the full report of what was going on with me. I was born in that hospital and what I experienced yesterday was a nightmare, the the two young men who brought me to the hospital in an ambulance were very kind and compassionate. too bad some of the Nursing staff at Sewickley Valley we're not. I had to wait for my ride in the emergency waiting room the woman behind the desk there and the other nurse were lovely. Sewickley valley needs to pick up its care at the hospital and start treating its patients with more professional care

This hospital is efficient. People want things done fast, unless it’s a LIFE THREATENING emergency, it’s going to take time. Lab work, X-rays, and scans take time to review. With the staff here, everyone from concierge to the aids, nurses, and doctors they are high class, high care. This hospital has saved my life, my best friend’s life, and my husband’s. We choose this hospital over UPMC everytime. It’s a little outdated but the staff really cares. Shout out to: Dr. Corcoran ER DOCS Nurse Renee Aid Belagio Jamie (dr. Corcoran assistant) They were all amazing!! Keep it up!

Absolute worst hospital. I might as well died there. They left me in the ER no one came to talk to me or treat me. I was treated in the ambulance. I was there from 3 pm on Saturday to 11pm to be told I’m discharged (without being cared for). The nurse told me if I don’t have a ride stay in the waiting room until buses start in the am. AGH IS SO MUCH BETTER AND CARES FOR THEIR PATIENTS. This place needs to be shut down.

They killed me. "Simple Procedure" ...destroyed my life & health. Since then, I've had a dozen more to try and fix it, still have more issues than i went in with! I feel like a savings ~ need a new motor for my cesna...do another piece of mesh in randy. The ignorance, lack of respect and absolute wanton patient care is gross. Not simply gross though ~ more subhuman, indecent. Was nerved up about another herniation mess while waiting to go in...nurse told me to shut up, that she couldn't stand people whining because they decidided to have a procedure. I didn't "decide" ...my insides were shredded because of the staples that ripped me apart inside and my abdominal wall was failing from the multiple times they cut me open trying to fix it.

I had surgery yesterday 3/4 and literally had the worst care ever. I would hit the nurse button for a drink or my meds & they would answer the phone and be so rude and after I said thank you they would just hang up. Everytime I asked the nurse for anything it took 20 minutes. Absolutely horrible patient care.
