About the Facility

Lifeways Recovery Center (Lifeways) Ontario is a mental health and addiction treatment center offering inpatient and outpatient programs for adults, children, and families in eastern Oregon. They provide supportive community mental health resources, psychiatric services, training, prevention programs, and peer support.

Addiction related services offered at Lifeways include mental health assessment and counseling, dual-diagnosis treatment, intensive outpatient programming, inpatient treatment, outpatient detox, children’s services, crisis management, prevention counseling, medication management, jail diversion, medication assisted treatment (MAT), and community integration.

These assessments help to determine whether a person exhibits symptoms of addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders. Lifeways Recovery Center provides dual diagnosis services to treat both disorders at the same time using a variety of modalities, including Assertive Community Treatment (ACT), MAT, and peer specialist services. Counseling is available to adults, children, and families.

Designed for adults, children, families, and couples. Participants attend individual and group treatment sessions for improved coping skills, peer support, and recovery community. Sessions are held 3-4 days a week, and the center is open Monday through Thursday, 9 am to 3 pm.

Lifeways substance use disorder treatment programs rely on evidence based practices to treat addiction and mental health conditions. They offer programs for adults ages 18 and up, along with youth programs for ages 11 through 17. Treatment begins with an assessment to determine individual needs, then rehab services are provided based on those results. Staff and clients work together to create individual plans of care.

Children assessed to be at risk of needing acute services are eligible to receive support through Lifeways. Crisis support is coordinated through community resource teams and the family, this includes treatment plans and maintaining the child’s connection to the community.

Available as a training course for attending to the mental aid of youth and adults. The training helps individuals identify and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use and provide a variety of interventions.

For those seeking medication assisted detox, Lifeways has a walk in outpatient program to help alleviate painful withdrawal symptoms using FDA approved medications. Along with managing withdrawal symptoms, clients benefit from recovery education classes and peer support programs. Same day services are available.

The MAT rehab program includes counseling, support groups, and medication management in an outpatient setting. The MAT program is appropriate for alcohol, opioid, benzodiazepine, cocaine, methamphetamines, and marijuana addictions. As clients progress and stabilize, in-person office appointments tend to become less frequent.

Lifeways provides its mental health and substance abuse treatment services under various payment means, including a sliding scale payment model. This means for those who qualify, treatment fees are based on income. Clients should be prepared to fill out an application and provide the requested financial information. You may also be asked to provide Medicare, Medicaid, or other insurance information.

Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance plans accepted.

book iconAlcoholism

Alcoholism is characterized by tolerance to alcohol and withdrawal symptoms if drinking suddenly ceases. To overcome alcohol addiction, some people may require intensive alcohol rehab in Oregon. This treatment is highly structured and typically includes medical detox, behavioral therapies, and 12-step programs. Support systems are crucial during and after rehab, so involvement in support groups typically continues after rehab treatment is complete.

prescription iconDrug Addiction

Drug rehab in Oregon offers a full continuum of care for those struggling with addiction. From detox, to inpatient, to outpatient, to aftercare, Oregon residents can find the support they need for recovery. This treatment empowers individuals to replace drug use with positive alternatives and develop a healthier lifestyle.

head-side-medical iconDual Diagnosis

In Oregon, dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs provide integrated care for individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions. Specialized programs include outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization options. Using a combination of individual and group therapy, psychoeducation, and skills training, a team of clinical addiction and mental health experts can treat the underlying causes of your addiction and improve your mental health.

file-medical iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

If you're in Oregon and seeking help for both mental health and substance abuse, dual-diagnosis rehabs may offer the comprehensive care you need. Dual-diagnosis means having two mental health disorders at the same time, like addiction and anxiety. Both the outpatient and inpatient programs are staffed by medical and addiction experts who use a combination of therapy, education, recovery groups, and 12-step programming to support your recovery process and improve your mental health.

prescription-bottle-pill iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Medical briefcase icon Levels of Care

car-building iconOutpatient

Clients who wish to remain in their homes while in recovery may elect to enroll in an outpatient rehab, many of which offer evening, night, and weekend services to accommodate clients’ schedules. Most outpatient facilities provide multiple levels of care to align with clients’ evolving needs, including partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) for clients who require robust support and supervision. Addiction counseling and recovery-focused life skills training are the most common treatment modalities.

house-medical iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive outpatient programs provide robust, high-frequency care for clients in early recovery and those at an increased risk of relapse. Clients are generally expected to participate in nine to 20 hours of treatment per week, with the number and duration of sessions decreasing as clients stabilize. Intensive outpatient treatment often combines psychotherapy, including individual, group, and family counseling, with addiction and recovery education. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) and holistic therapies are also common.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Couples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Family Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Individual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.
