About Livingston Regional Hospital

Livingston Regional Hospital is in Livingston, Tennessee, and offers comprehensive medical services and a 24/7 emergency room (ER) accredited by The Joint Commission. The hospital accepts insurance from most major providers, as well as Medicare.

The ER offers admissions for clients in a mental health or substance use crisis and can refer you to further addiction or mental health care as needed. Individuals have access to health risk assessments, including assessments to determine their risk from mental health disorders and addiction.

Short Term Stabilization for Mental Health or Substance Misuse

The hospital is conveniently located in downtown Livingston, close to local amenities and community resources. There are many public recreation spaces and parks for people in outpatient recovery.

Individuals admitted to the ER in a substance use or mental health crisis will be evaluated and stabilized. The ER uses an integrated bedside registration process to ensure immediate treatment.

You’ll have lab testing with results often available in a few minutes. If the ER physicians determine a need for further assistance after stabilization, they’ll refer you to the appropriate treatment. The care team includes physicians, advanced practice medical providers, cardiologists, general surgeons and other medical personnel.

Health Risk Assessments

Health risk assessments offered through the hospital can be filled out online or at the hospital. For any concerns about your substance use or mental health issues, you’ll be assisted in determining the type of help you need and scheduling an appointment with the appropriate provider.

Once scheduled, your provider will develop a tailored plan addressing your specific physical and mental health needs. This ensures you’re given the best approach to improve and manage your health.

I personally have never stepped a foot into this hospital in Livingston, Tennessee. However, I have a family member that lives in the area and has been in this hospital on numerous occasions for days at a time. The nutritional/dietary department that provides food for the patients needs to really step up to the plate and IMPROVE THE MEALS THEY PROVIDE. Colorful, appetizing meals are important to a patient's well being, attitude and health. Think about it. Would you feed these foods to YOUR FAMILY MEMBER? I feel bad about writing this but, I find it necessary. Of course nobody wants to be hospitalized......... but decent, delicious and nutritious meals can help them feel cared about. Knowing they can look forward to a good meal means alot to some people. Think colorful fruits, vegetables, tasty soups, fresh meats, desserts and a little imagination sprinkled in can really help. There are so many endless possibilities of creating new nutritious patient meals on a weekly rotating basis. Sorry for the low score. But my family member starves at this hospital and doesn't need to lose weight. Of course I know a hospital kitchen isn't a gourmet restaurant. BUT THERE IS ROOM FOR LOTS OF IMPROVEMENT. THANKS 😊

Accepted Insurance

Livingston Regional Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

We had a sick kiddo and went to the Er on Wednesday night. Honestly, I always feel anxious going to any ER. But from check in, the Er nurses, to Dr Harsh it was a very good experience. Everyone was thorough, kind, reassuring, and truthfully made this such a postitve experience. We can't thank them enough.

Response from the owner
Thank you, Amber. We're happy you found our team to be caring and supportive during your experience at Livingston Regional Hospital. We appreciate your kind feedback and will be sure to share it with our team.

Dr Timothy Clark was so unprofessional. Came in my room immediately saying he "needed to speed this up, other people are coming in" then NEVER came back to my room for 4 HOURS! I had labs, urine, and ultrasound done, and he refused to come into my room and give me any results. I went in for sharp pain in my lower stomach during pregnancy with severe dizziness. Not one time did they try to fix either issue. I had to ask the nurses 3 times for an update and they kept telling me he'd be in in a minute and after 2 hours passed I told them i just needed to leave if they weren't going to fix any issue im having. About 4 people came in after me and already left. I get it takes time, but they could've at least made a pregnant woman in pain, comfortable, or updated with her care. I tried to ask the nurse for online chart information, and she told me they didn't do that there. My ob would have to call the hospital to get the information. I knew that was a lie because I have EVERY RIGHT to my medical information. I asked the front desk lady for help, and she got me into my chart immediately. My chart shows I have a UTI, and some of my vitamins are low, but "Dr. CLARK" wouldn't tell me or even send in medication for it. I'm not sure how any of them consider themselves Dr's or Nurses if they don't even take care of their patients like they're paid to do. I'll also be calling the health department to make a report, and I'll be going the highest I can in the hospital to report this behavior. Especially how he acted when he came into my room and told me he would just discharge me, and that's exactly what he did, discharged me without giving me any answers from my labs, urine, or ultrasound. My summary paperwork didn't have any results on them either.

June 11, 2025 I don't have anything good to say about Livingston Regional Hospital. As far as I know, nobody has ever gone to the ER looking for a lecture from the doctor. But that's exactly what I got this evening. This poor excuse of a doctor began by explaining an acute condition to me as if I were a toddler, because I had not contacted my PCP about my current condition. Then continued by making ridiculous hand gestures in my face as I answered his questions. Needless to say I left at that point. This is a shitty place to get medical attention. I advise you to go ANYWHERE ELSE. Do you know how people are auditing police? I wish somebody would audit emergency room doctors, that would totally go viral.
