New Day Recovery

Closed: Shreveport, Louisiana

About New Day Recovery

New Day Recovery is a drug and alcohol rehab facility located in Shreveport, Louisiana. They treat individuals who are dealing with substance use disorder (SUD) and alcohol use disorder (AUD). They have both inpatient and outpatient treatment for men and women. Treatment will last anywhere between 28 and 60 days.

Medically Assisted Treatment Including Brixadi

Here, they provide medically assisted treatment to those people who need it for mental health conditions and withdrawal symptoms. In addition to providing medications such as Subutex and Naltrexone, they are one of the few places in Louisiana in which you can obtain Brixadi.

Brixadi is offered on either a weekly or monthly basis. The medication is injected into your arm in liquid form and turns into a gel. It then slowly releases the medication in the appropriate doses over time. Other buprenorphine-based medications come in the form of a pill that you take daily or an injection monthly.

Inpatient Treatment

Both of the company’s treatment centers offer gender-specific dorms. The Shreveport office offers gender-specific treatment for people with SUD. They have a treatment program that is specifically designed for women.

Not only will you have all of your group sessions with other women, but the treatment methods used are specifically geared to the problems that women with SUD experience. You will have private therapy sessions throughout your stay.

You will be assigned a case manager who will monitor your progress throughout the program. They can assist you with obtaining social services and other community resources.

Available Outpatient Services

They have an intensive outpatient program in which you will come in several times a week for several hours a day. It is good for people who do not have time to attend residential therapy or for those who are transitioning out of therapy.

They offer standard outpatient treatment that includes weekly group and individual sessions. They participate in the Enjoy Life Again program, which focuses on the positive elements of living a drug-free life and restoring joy and fulfillment.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I trusted these people to go through my alcohol withdrawals safely. Instead they refused to give me medication the first night I checked in. This caused me to have an absence seizure, and constant myclonic seizures.I told them at 8pm I wasn t doing so well, denied meds. I told them at 10 pm it was worse.. no meds. From 10 - 2am I had constant myoclonic seizures and one absence seizure where I lost consciousness. They weren t patrolling the halls and never checked in on me even after telling them that. Finally at 2 am I got control enough to walk back to find someone. They called an ambulance finally got some Ativan to ease the seizing. The to the ER and get an IV. Pumped full of fluids, more Ativan and idk more stuff. The Dr. was furious.I get back to New Day. We re supposed to have a key to our lockers. I had to give it up when I went to the ER. I asked for it back and they had lost it. Never got it back and I was there 3 days. I needed a liquid diet because of acute pancreatitis that the ER Dr diagnosed me with. Lack of communication made it so I couldn t get the Ensure drink that I needed. I complained and eventually they figured it out.It was an absolutely horrible experience. Some of the staff were very nice. And some of them were just horrible. People that should not be working in a facility like that.

Absolutely the most god awful rehabilitation facility I have ever been to. Techs there were very rude to the clients, there was flies all over the dining area when trying to eat, and the counseling and groups were sub par at best. 0/10 would not recommend.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Clients engaged in an intensive outpatient program (IOP) participate in multiple treatment sessions weekly. Typical treatment modalities include individual, group, and family counseling, addiction and recovery education, medication assisted treatment (MAT), and evidence-based holistic therapies. Most intensive outpatient rehabs require clients to engage in a minimum of nine and a maximum of 20 treatment hours per week. Many clients enter IOP after stepping down from intensive inpatient care, but some may enroll immediately after completing detox.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Clients enrolled in rehab aftercare programs have completed high-level treatment and are typically in the maintenance phase of their recovery, receiving customized services designed to support their sustained sobriety. Case managers and care teams typically begin to plan for the client's rehab aftercare services early in the treatment process to ensure the client's fluid reentry into their home, workplace, and community. These programs evolve as clients' needs change, and frequently include peer coaching, relapse prevention, and career counseling.

12-step icon12-Step

12 step programs enable participants to focus on their long-term sobriety through rigorous peer support and ongoing personal growth. They engage in regular, peer-directed 12 step meetings and receive one-on-one mentoring by a self-selected sponsor. Meetings are free, anonymous, and available multiple times a day, 365 days per year in most communities. Though 12 steps of recovery are rooted in spiritual principles, religious affiliation isn't mandatory. Specialized programs are widely available, including youth and family meetings.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

Sober living homes in Louisiana offer a drug- and alcohol-free environment where residents can maintain or establish their sobriety. Also called a halfway house, this setting offers peer empowerment, support, accountability, reinforcement of recovery principles, and individual responsibility. It is a safe place where residents can solidify their recovery skills and prepare to return home or establish a new independent life.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

Collaboration between a professional treatment team and the family of an addicted loved one is an essential benefit of intervention services in Louisiana. Working together, they can develop the best strategies for a drug intervention. These experienced professionals know what protocols are most effective for interventions and provide expert insight that can improve the outcome of the intervention. An intervention specialist acts as a mediator during the intervention and a guide for next steps based on the outcome of the effort.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

Initial phases of rehab treatment often require 24-hour clinical care in Louisiana. This supervised treatment offers three main benefits. Medical staff can provide medications to treat withdrawal. Clients can also benefit from having 24-hour nursing staff available to treat any other physical symptoms. Lastly, this setting ensures that professionals are constantly available to address any emotional or mental health issues related to the addiction or co-occurring disorders.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

The first step in the addiction recovery process involves flushing all addictive drugs and alcohol from your body while under 24/7 medical supervision. Known as a medically assisted detox, this level of care takes into account that quitting your drug of choice cold turkey can be very dangerous once you've become physically dependent. In a medical detox, your team of medical professionals helps to ensure your safety and comfort. Most people transition to an inpatient treatment or maintenance program upon completion.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

If you undergo cognitive behavioral therapy in Louisiana, you may engage in role playing, face your fears, and learn to calm your mind and body. These techniques are designed to help you recognize unhealthy patterns of thinking and to learn healthy ways of coping with challenges.

When you participate in dialectical behavior therapy, you'll work on recognizing distorted thinking patterns that are guiding your emotions. You'll learn how to change these patterns to eliminate unproductive reactions. This involves developing better coping mechanisms to handle stressful situations.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

If you are struggling with motivation to change, motivational interviewing is designed to help. This method typically involves one or two sessions with a therapist. The technique helps you understand your motivations and empowers you to make changes to reach your goals.

In Louisiana, trauma therapy helps you explore the impact that a traumatic event has had on your life. You can experience emotional and physical responses if you witness or experience a traumatic event. Your therapist guides you in processing the trauma and then developing coping strategies that improve your quality of life.

eye-movement iconEye Movement Desensitization And Reprocessing

The purpose of family therapy is to create a supportive and understanding dynamic between family members. Therapists assist families in identifying and changing negative, harmful patterns while improving open and honest communication. This provides a stable foundation for the recovery journey.

An integral part of addiction rehab in Louisiana is life skills training. This training equips you for the daily tasks you'll need to successfully navigate post treatment. Training may include employment coaching, stress management techniques, financial budgeting, and interpersonal skill development.

Staff not helpful or compassionate. Takes too long to even see a nurse practitioner, yeah, no actual doctors. This place is great for people who are being court ordered or planning to go to a halfway house after but if you're admitting yourself it's just frustration and bible thumping. No real therapy. If the addiction is very strong, sure, try this place. I'm sober and staying this way so there's nothing for me here. If you really need any mental help and antidepressants, get a real therapist from one of the many other local nearby mental health institutes.

My 27 year old son just went there today. I am praying they can help us. We have been dealing with this since he was 13 and nothing nor no one has been able 2 help him break his addiction.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
Not sure how that got us a 3 star review but I can assure you on our end we will do everything we can to set him up for success. Once he completes the program he will have to put the tools to use. I tell our clients and their families if it was up to me they’d all be sober but everyone has their part to play. As long as he is still fighting to get sober that is a great sign and it’s an honor that we will have a part to play in his journey. Be encouraged and stay hopeful!

I went into new day knowing I had a problem but not knowing what I would get out of it. I’ve been an addict for a long time and the past 2 years I’ve been using heroin. I knew that if I didn’t get help i would end up another opioid death statistic! The employees of new day from the techs, to the in patient counseling staff to the iop counselors are all amazing people who genuinely care about your recovery. The living arrangements are amazing, the atmosphere is amazing as well as the small groups. If you are batting addiction don’t give up, don’t be afraid to ask for help! It gets better believe me! I would have never believe I’d be where I’m at today..I never imagined me being able to enjoy life sober, not having to be high or drunk to enjoy my self. I figured I’d die a junkie and I was okay with that! New day opened my eyes to what possibilities and opportunities are really out there if you just allow your self to surrender to your addiction and put forth an effort to do better! All you can do is take it one day at a time and if today your sober that’s all that matters. I’d recommend this place to anyone who needs help, because believe me being sober and genuinely happy beats any feeling that drugs ever gave me! Thank you new day and everyone that helped me in my recovery!,

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
I couldn’t be more proud and honored to be such a small part in the grand plan of you figuring out who you really are created be. You just got tired of that old definition and wrote yourself a new one. Keep at it as the best is yet to come!
