Olalla Recovery is a residential treatment located in a serene, wooded setting in Washington. Olalla Recovery believes a combination of clinical, group and holistic therapies works best to heal each person on multiple levels.

Olalla Recovery Focus:

Substance Abuse

Substance Abuse Treatment Centers focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

What does Olalla Recovery offer?

Residential (inpatient) Treatment

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Their residential program offers a variable length of stay for adult men and women who are chemically affected based upon the assessment, medical criteria, individual patient needs, legal issues, and/or referent request. They can accommodate up to a 90-day length of stay for patients needing a longer stay and more structured environment to establish a successful plan for recovery.

Intervention Services

Interventions are approaches to help chemically dependent individuals recognize the consequences of their use while becoming willing to accept treatment and enter successful recovery. Interventions require committed family members, friends and colleagues to address the history, behaviors and feelings associated with the chemically dependent person’s use. Their interventionist will welcome any call, and explain types of interventions, provide with literature related to interventionists, and with resources in the community. The original and most successful model of intervention is the Johnson Model, which involves meeting with family, friends and colleagues and their interventionist.

Treatment Types:

Individualized Treatment

Each patient is different and those differences are embraced at Olalla Recovery Centers. They tailor treatment planning to meet each patient at their stage of readiness for recovery. Patients will meet with their primary counselor to identify the issues that brought them into treatment for abuse help and develop a successful plan for on-going recovery once they have completed the treatment process. Each patient will have assignments to work on to help them better understand their own addiction and identify plans to help them maintain sobriety upon leaving the treatment setting.

Family Program

Olalla Recovery sees the importance of family within the disease of addiction. The patient is not the only one experiencing the issues and problems of addiction, the entire family is in need of assistance. This is why they encourage families to participate in their Family Program. Families are an integral part of the recovery process for patients and healing for everyone involved is vital.

Aftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn’t spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community  programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Therapies Offered:

Holistic Therapy

Rather than focusing solely on addiction, holistic therapy facilities treat patients in terms of their whole being. Holistic therapy is about more than just addiction and sobriety – it addresses the person’s life in its entirety, including career, physical, familial, and spiritual aspects.

Individual Therapy

Olalla Recovery Centers believes a combination of clinical, group and holistic therapies works best to heal each person on multiple levels. Individual primary counseling sessions help restore balance from the inside out, the patient is provided individualized assignments to help them change, feel better and start the road to recovery.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Experiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional “talk therapy” by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Nutrition Therapy

Healing the whole self including the body is essential in recovery. Patients receive exceptional meals that are balanced and complete to replenish their bodies with wholesome nutrients. Patients participate in nutrition education lectures and classes. The fitness trail that encircles the property is conducive to meditation, reflection and exercise. Additional physical activities include basketball, volleyball and horseshoes.

Olalla Recovery Highlights:

Olalla Recovery offers Sub-Acute Detoxification services at their residential program. Depending on the substances involved, patients may need assistance with the withdrawal process. Their staff will help patients coordinate services either at their Olalla Guest Lodge location, where they offer Sub-Acute Detoxification services or through other facilities and partnerships with medical detoxification facilities.
For those patients who have recently relapsed following their residential stay and need to re-tool their recovery program. Clinical staff have been trained in the proven Gorski Model for relapse prevention and will use these and other evidence-based approaches to help individuals learn relapse prevention strategies. In addition, staff works with each patient to develop an individual treatment plan to identify the patient's triggers and formalize a relapse prevention plan.
They recognize that patients come to treatment with a variety of issues to work on. To address the unique issues and concerns within men and women entering into early recovery, they offer separate groups for men and women. Groups are gender-specific with individualized curriculum to identify and explore these unique issues.
Acupuncture detoxification is offered two times per week at their residential site by a licensed acupuncturist. The focus is on withdrawal from substances and to reduce anxiety and stress. Acupuncture is a modality that assists the body's natural detoxification process to relieve craving and other withdrawal symptoms.
In addition to the other areas offered to address the whole patient, patients will learn various relaxation techniques and can use the fitness trail that circles the property to meditate, reflect, exercise, etc. On the trail, patients may encounter eagles soaring overhead, Northwest native birds singing, deer grazing in the meadows, flowers blooming, or even squirrels busy at work. By walking the gravel path, patients can begin to ponder their future path of recovery. Olalla Recovery Centers is blessed to have Native elders facilitate the Native American Spiritual Circle once a month.
