Literally not even a good hospital? Went here twice, awful experience BOTH times. Tried to drug me and not even giving me a therapist. All they do is do coloring sheets, watch tv, very little phone time, and sleep. The beds are horrible. Got back problems. Would rather sleep on a yoga mat. Lucky I didn't give one star.

My son was hospitalized back in September for 7 days. During his stay the staff were very nice and always provided me an updated report whenever I called. However, I’m very disappointed that when my son was discharged he left there in hospital scrub pants material that that they wear before going into surgery that were way too big, he left without shoes on his feet because they misplaced his Jordans. I sent my son with a back pack full of his necessities he would need while his stay there along with a pair of Jordan’s. I was told by the discharge nurse that if his belongings were not found I would be reimbursed. I’ve called and left messages since this incident and no one has reached out to me. I can see one or two items but his whole attire wardrobe along with the book bag and shoes is just insane.

Accepted Insurance

Riveredge Hospital works with several private insurance providers, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) enable clients to receive high-level care while living at home. Clients may choose to enter IOP instead of enrolling in inpatient care post-detox or they may transition from an inpatient rehab into IOP. Intensive outpatient treatment involves multiple therapeutic sessions per week and includes a combination of psychotherapy and addiction and recovery education. Many programs also offer medication assisted treatment (MAT) and/or holistic therapies, such as acupuncture and massage.

As a flexible option, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) is tailored for those who don't require 24-hour care. PHP treatment can include daily therapeutic sessions and services such as relapse prevention and medication management. Based on your needs, PHP treatment duration can average 90 days and require a minimum of 20 hours of commitment weekly. While a partial hospitalization program typically requires a commute, telehealth may be available. PHP treatment costs can vary but are often covered by most insurance.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Alcohol use disorder (alcoholism) can be severe, moderate, or mild. Symptoms include spending a lot of time drinking, wanting to stop but being unsuccessful, and feeling strong cravings that lead to overuse of alcohol. At any severity level, alcohol addiction is treatable through alcohol rehab in Illinois. Most comprehensive rehab programs include medical detox, inpatient rehab, and ongoing alcohol counseling/support (maintenance).

Drug rehab in Illinois is designed to help people recover from addiction to a number of substances. The length of each program and its intensity tend to vary, and the plan of care is based on your individual needs.

In Illinois, comprehensive substance abuse treatment programs are available for individuals struggling with substances and their mental health. These programs offer various levels of care, including outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization options. Skilled clinicians utilize evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed care to address substance abuse and improve your mental health. You'll also learn strategies to cope with relapse triggers and deal with stress.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.

The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

I got misdiagnosed with bipolar here and prescribed a medication that went against my rights. The social worker threatened me that if I didnt take them they’d keep me there longer. The other patients told me they keep us here for money and I was ignored when I asked for melatonin because I didn’t have a full night sleep from constantly getting woken by the lady and this bigger guy who also refused to give me my hospital approved clothes. The sad thing is I would wake up to them talking bad about the patients and making fun of them. This place is extremely unprofessional and abusive. I saw physical violence because they weren’t doing their jobs and one of them gave a 22 year old woman a black eye and said she gave herself one. That’s insane to me, how is this place still open? The only decent people were a couple women but besides that it was generally terrible. The bathrooms were gross to shower in and they keep us locked inside. I was looking out the window and the music guitar lady was bragging about how happy she is because of how nice the day is when she clearly saw me stare out the window. They also broke a law of confidentiality when I witnessed them read another woman’s notebook against her permission. They constantly argue with mentally ill patients and they have 0 compassion towards them. I absolutely hated this place and only loved the other patients I got to speak, which was the only thing holding me together there. The psychiatrist was a woman (the one who misdiagnosed me since my last psychiatrist told me she doesnt think I have it) and she bragged to me about her vacation to my face in that room… idk I just find it a little rude and weird to be so happy and exuberant to share to a young person who was suicidal. This other nurse gave me a dirty look and told me I had to go to therapy but in the most condescending and rude way as well. The emotional abuse here is insane and the neglect too. This is not a place I recommend. I liked how friendly this other man came in every sunday though. He even asked us why the white board hasnt been changed since over a week ago. I was like yeah I know right? This lady also confused me and I accidentally exposed myself to her because my boyfriend hugged me and they were happy to see if he put anything in my clothes which he obviously didn’t lol. The front receptionist guy called my boyfriend.a straggler and hung up on him when he tried to set an appointment to see me as well. My boyfriend even said the floors are sticky… yuck. I saw this man come in the dayroom flaunting his popeyes to us and this other patient told me "you notice how he buys himself popeyes and brings it in the dayroom but he cant bother getting us new crayons or markers?" which was totally true. Incredibly unhelpful. Even when this guy would come in to talk to us we would get spoken over by another staff member there so it was hard to get anything good out of it. And I was made fun of for my cuts by another man and they didn’t tell him to stop. I could say more but do I really have to? They don’t treat patients like real people.
