About Road to Recovery Wellness Center

Road to Recovery Wellness Center is situated in downtown Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and offers a range of outpatient addiction and mental health services for adults. They focus on flexible, step-down levels of care, so the setup works best for people who don’t need inpatient or residential treatment but still want regular support.
There are many parks in the area and fun places since it’s located in the middle of Ft. Lauderdale. These outlets for recreation and relaxation can be a crucial part of recovery.

Levels of Care

Their highest level of care is a partial hospitalization program which runs about five days a week and gives people a structured routine without requiring an overnight stay. From there, they offer an intensive outpatient program that meets several times a week and gives more breathing room for day to day life. Traditional outpatient care is also available for people who just need a few hours of therapy a week, and they continue working with clients through aftercare once they’ve finished the main program.

Holistic Treatment Methods

What sets them apart is that they pull in some more creative and holistic elements. There’s animal-assisted therapy and creative arts therapy on site, and they tend to highlight mind-body-spirit work in how they talk about their approach.

Client Feedback

Reviews online are mixed. While some clients mentioned concerns about the way some staff handled things, others liked the way the program helped them repair relationships and navigate court or probation requirements.

Insurance Coverage

They accept a wide range of insurances including Medicaid, Medicare and military plans. They also have a sliding scale if you want to pay them directly.

How do the staff at BARC sleep at night? I have a good friend suffering from addiction, and my friend has had appointments with a BARC staff person, only to get turned away forcing my friend to live in the streets, living in addiction. I see other reviews about BARC where BARC will not help persons with addiction, but turns them away / makes them leave. How, BARC? How do you sleep at night knowing that you have just denied treatment to an addict wanting recovery? You should be ashamed of yourselves!!!

Ridiculous and inhumane. Belittled my family member that went in there looking for help. I can’t wrap my head around how rude the front desk was when their job is to help others in need.

UPDATE!!🤪 My brother was actually arrested with a felony charge because Broward Addiction Recovery Center wouldn’t help him and now his life is actually ruined!!YAAAY THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP!!! Absolutely useless. A family member was brought here under court order, the clinical person assigned to do their assessment took one look at them and said you’re leaving. I couldn’t get a single person to answer my questions, no one called back, nothing. After 6-7 hours after trying to contact someone after calling right before they closed someone FINALLY informed me that I wasn’t even allowed to receive information about the patient, and that’s why no one was calling me back or talking to me. Only the person listed can receive information. Right after they called the listed person and told them to tell me to stop calling. Why didn’t someone tell me that the first or second time I called instead of absolutely wasting my time and just telling me the person wasn’t available I needed to talk to??? My family member was released after YOU GUYS sent them away for medical clearance, and once they were brought back you say you can’t take them?? If something happens to them, I like to think it’ll be on you and your staff. Absolutely useless.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Clients typically choose inpatient rehab when they are in early recovery or are experiencing a crisis that puts them at an increased risk of relapse. They reside at the treatment center for the length of their program, which may range from two weeks to more than 18 months, depending on the program design. Intensive psychotherapy is often the primary treatment modality, but clients in inpatient care may also receive holistic treatment and recovery-focused life skills training.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

When a person has alcohol use disorder (AUD), also referred to as alcoholism or alcohol addiction, they experience withdrawal symptoms when they stop drinking. This physical dependence results from overuse of alcohol, which may be used as a coping mechanism or escape. Individuals who have AUD can overcome the alcohol addiction through alcohol rehab in Florida. This treatment process involves essential therapy and supports to help the individual achieve and maintain recovery.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Therapists who apply cognitive behavioral therapy in Florida believe patient thoughts and behaviors are closely linked. They use this treatment method to help clients change their thought patterns so they can also change behaviors and break free from substance abuse.

As a short term therapeutic method, motivational interviewing in Florida requires only a couple of sessions. During these sessions, you'll have the opportunity to talk about your circumstances and any discrepancies between your current situation and future goals. You'll then decide for yourself what changes you want to make.
