They called CPS on me once I had my baby and tried to lie saying I forced my newborn on them and wasn t feed or changing her. When I tell y all I didn t rest until I gave birth because I knew something wasn t right. They literally offered to take my child to the nursery and I had all the proof and I still have custody of my child and she s in a safe home! THANKS ALOT ..Today is 4-2-25 and someone told me I could have had a fat ass lawsuit off of yall leaving half of my placenta in me.. literally still scarred till this day then the nurse that called cps on me took my baby in the nursery and thought I was crazy off of me telling her I don t feel well I think I need some sleep I am seeing black spots she told me it was probably the medication and to get some rest just ring the button when I wake. They literally had to pull half my placenta out of me. I had blurred vision, heavy clotting and I was bleeding eternally until my placenta fell out of me. I decided to update my review off of me always telling this crazy ass story to a new mother I literally always tell them do not go here definitely not safe for giving birth and I was literally supposed to include this in my review as well I was just so worried about them wanting to get my baby taken as soon as I had her I completely forgot to include this and wish I could have hot something done about it until this day. MY BIGGEST REGRET IS GIVING BIRTH HERE.And to the lady that gave me a TON of baby stuff to take home and made my day after that CPS lady left Thank you , BUT F* THAT NURSE WITH THE 8KIDS NAME START WITH J AND THEY SAY SHE S THE BEST JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE 8kids???? BECAUSE THEY TOLD ME YOU CALLED And Had the nerve to smile in my face while you told them you did everything when I had a sheet of everytime I got up for my baby changing wet diapers keeping track of poop and feeding with my initials. You have a nasty soul and I don t see how you made it to 8kids.

My sister. Was taken to saint mary's hospital yesterday afternoon in a ambulance. I did not go with her , her daughter did but the treatment that she received there in the emergency room was very poor. Living in Livonia, all my life would be over 70 years.I have dealt with this hospital in the past. In some manner of speaking.I want to let them know that they are known as saint scaries. Upon reading some of the reviews myself this morning. After this horrible experience with my sister. It's very unfortunate that I need to inform people. That if you have a choice this hospital is not the one. After being there till 11 pm she signed herself out as she felt very strongly that she was in danger there. I had to run back to her home in Livonia to get her portable oxygen so my neice could get her home safely. I couldn't believe the treatment she didn't receive at this hospital. If I could give - stars I would.

I grew up in Livonia on the edge of Westland and Garden City. My family has been to all the hospitals in the area for various reasons and we all choose St Marys over the others. My son came in with severe abdominal pain (appendicitis) and they got him back right away! I was so impressed with their efficiency in assessing his pain, testing and quick surgery.Recently they were amazing in helping with my neighbor who was there for 3 weeks. I highly recommend them. I dont understand the poor ratings.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Michigan provides personalized treatment to help individuals break this cycle and regain control of their lives. Treatment methods are used in various levels of care, including inpatient rehab, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and standard outpatient treatment.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I’m going to start by saying this was by far the best hospital stay I have ever experienced! We made our arrival at 9pm for possible contractions. It was made clear within 10 minutes of arrival I was not going home and in fact was about to have a baby! The staff had been so quick and efficient at getting my husband and I settled into our room and introducing themselves. They made sure all the paperwork had been started and signed before things got hectic. I truly had some of the best nurses. Sami and Gabby had helped me and my husband in so many ways and always made sure we had everything we needed. This is my first child and I was terrified with no idea with what to expect. They made sure I was taken care of and I didn’t leave with any unanswered questions. The hospital food was actually really good and filling! The housekeeping had all been so sweet and always kept our trash empty and our room cleaned. If I could rate this hospital higher I would in a heartbeat!

The person handling the messaging portion of the app is incredibly rude and does everything possible to frustrate you and give up on getting help. The fact that they let the app run like this is indicative of how they run the whole place. Maybe go somewhere else if you want your health care to be taken seriously.

SHE HAS BLOND HAIR AND SHES PALE!! she said to my mother "i don’t see anything wrong with her" when i was shaking, crying, hyperventilating and in so much pain it was torture and she had the nerve to say "i don’t know what im looking at that’s so wrong" we got nothing but attitude and i had to go to another hospital. if i stayed there i would’ve most likely DIED or be seriously hurt.

The ambulance took me from urgent care to ER at Trinity Hospital on Dec 13th due to low pulse (my regular pulse since I've known is from 45-50). They took xray and found a slight broken ribs that I didn't even feel any pain. Well, I thought I will go home since it's not that serious, but they all took time to check my heart as well. I keep telling them that I really have low pulse rate, but just ignored me. They put that heart monitor and told me I will be admitted and told me that the cardiologist will see me the next day. The night shift Doctor came and told me that they don't need to admit me. He went to talk to the ER doctors, but he didn't come back and the kid just came back to put me in a room. The next day, NO cardiologist come to see me. We'll, that's the only reason why I and my husband complied to stay. The doctor who released me also told me that I should not be there. NOW, I AM IN DEBT FOR THOUSANDS FOR NOT EVEN A DAY IN THERE. I already paid my xrays and doctors, but men, why would I pay something that against my well? Should I pay the doctors that told me I shouldn't be there? I am to the point of sending me bills to collection since they don't even work with me. This is so frustrating. Mind you, they will remove this, just like what they did to my very first review when I get out there on Dec 14th. I can't pay almost 500 a month for 6 months. I am not rich for goodness sake. People, don't comply to them. You know your body and you know what's good for you. The hospital is just GREEDY!!!!

I gave birth here about a month ago and I could go on and on about how amazing my experience here was! I had a very fast labor where I gave birth only five to ten minutes after arriving at the hospital, and my team was so responsive and reassuring throughout that ordeal. The nurses and doctors were wonderful after I gave birth too, always going above and beyond to make sure my needs and my baby's were met. Everyone was so kind, sweet, and funny, and I know if I ever got pregnant again, St. Mary's would be at the top of my list to deliver at. I absolutely recommend this location to any expecting mommas out there! I am so appreciative of all the incredible people here who took such good care of my little one and me!

***UPDATE*** It's even worse. Do not ever send your loved ones here. My father was admitted three times from late Feb to mid Apr during a horrible run. COPD. Then influenza. Then pneumonia. Then discharged (despite an overnight blood Ox crash and one Doc telling him he would need to stay) to a rehab only to Ox crash immediately and be taken by ambulance to, "anywhere but that place" per his and my request Corwell in Farmington had a whole new condition figured out (Methylglobanemia) within two hours and asked why he could have possibly been discharged Good question, Corwell. Good question... *original review* Do not go. Walked in 2am with my son who had a fever and a swollen lymph node. Looked like a tennis ball in his neck. Waited two hours and the whole TWO patients in the ER ahead of us were never seen. Overflowing garbage cans. Zero visible staff. Ended up leaving and going to the new Corwell on 7 mile. Was in and out in an hour. Do not go here. Go to Corwell, HF Novi even Botsford. And remember DMC is closer than you think. There is no reason to go to this hospital.

My 84 year-old father just walked in the emergency room this morning with a prescription for an ultrasound of the carotid artery for possible stroke and he was turned away and told they don’t do that and said he would need to go to U of M! This is a simple Ultrasound procedure. Somebody did not know what they were talking about. My dad then proceeded to drive to Garden City emergency room, they took him in immediately to run. Sorts of tests on him and treat him the way he needed to be treated. So disappointed in St. Mary’s

Dr. Chakel is the most caring and compassionate doctor I’ve ever seen in an ER. She validated my reason for being there even though I felt stupid coming to the ER for the intense pain I was in because of my tooth. She explained everything to me and got me discharged pretty quickly after starting antibiotics. No one ever likes going to the ER but I was glad to have such a caring doctor see me while I was there.
