About Sister’s Path
Situated in Fargo, North Dakota, Sister’s Path is a critical program operated by ShareHouse, a nonprofit addiction treatment center that has been helping the community since 1975.
Sister’s Path, however, started later in 2004 and has since then helped families, especially single parents in recovery from substance use disorders, overcome their addiction.
Options for Sober Housing
They offer sober family housing in different ways. They have 12 family-sized apartments, which include 9 two-bedroom and 3 three-bedroom apartments. Their residences are designed in a way that gives you a sense of normalcy and comfort while still addressing all your issues. Something else that’s great is that it’s affordable as well.
Application and Eligibility
There is a Fargo housing application that interested applicants must apply through to be considered for the program. To qualify, you have to demonstrate that you’re extremely committed to recovery and are eligible for the housing program.
They give first priority to ShareHouse clients who are currently enrolled in ShareHouse’s addiction treatment programs in order to make it a seamless transition for those patients.
Outpatient Recovery Services
If you are a resident of Sister’s Path, you’ll have direct access to ShareHouse’s addiction recovery programs, which include outpatient therapy, counseling, and mental health services. They even offer relapse prevention and continuing care groups.
Something else I noticed that stood out to me was their inclusion of DUI education seminars, which offer court-approved classes for individuals with substance-related legal charges. It’s also a nice addition that they offer medication-assisted treatment with FDA-approved medications like Suboxone and Vivitrol.
When it comes to the more unique services and therapeutic modalities, I found a few great options here. They offer cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, and even 12-step facilitation.

Other Forms of Payment
Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.
Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.
