About Vista Psychological Counseling Centre

Founded in May 2008, the facility has grown a great deal since its inception, expanding its facilities in the summer of 2012. Now, it boasts a renovated play area for little ones, with clients able to enjoy an overall more comfortable setting including a newly decorated waiting area. Its team has also grown a lot since then and includes professionals specializing in clinical counseling, psychology and clinical social work.

With decades of experience providing mental health care to its local community, the center’s goal is to provide only the highest quality care to its clients. Their team offers psychological testing and consultation for the initial stages of individual treatment followed by individual, group, family and couples therapy and counseling services.

They aim to meet clients’ unique and individual needs. They ttreat a range of different mental health conditions and behaviors including substance use disorder and other addictive or self harming patterns.

The center also offers a Live, Local and Relevant Workshop series. This initiative was created as a way for local clinicians and mental health professionals to keep in regular contact, network with one another, and ultimately stay up-to-date with a range of topical and relevant issues facing the mental health care industry and its providers.

Former clients provide mixed feedback on their time here. Many shout out specific staff members and therapists by name for their warmth, expertise and innate ability to connect with clients.

At Vista, I saw Virginia as a therapist. She was the first therapist i have ever liked and connected with. I'm been seeking mental healthcare for 15 years now, so that's saying something good about about her. I also saw Tara for medication management. those appointments were quick, but our brief times, i did enjoy. Dr. Humphries did my first round of testing for an ASD eval. I am happy for the part he played in my healthcare, but overall, i'm not nearly as comfortable with men in mental health than women. not a lot he could have changed about that, so it's not a statement denigrating him. Just my own preference and comfort. Last, i saw Erin twice, who did my final ASD eval. She was kind, patient, and did her best to steer me in the right direction post ASD diagnosis. I am only ceasing my treatment at vista because, i have problems that other, larger places are more handled to equip. I would recommend Vista and anyone there whom i have been a patient of. never forget, finding the right doctor/therapist/np/etc for you is one of the most important parts of your healthcare in general, let alone mental healthcare. If i get my issues settled to a point i need less intervention, i will happily return, unless i have to follow Virginia elsewhere to have her as a therapist again. i also want to add in the all of the front office staff are delightful. i was always greeted with warmth and a smile, even if i walked in looking like my soul had just been forcefully removed from my body through my chest.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

NEVER go here. january of 2025 i made an appointment to see if i have autism. they needed THREE APPOINTMENTS to get me fully tested, then told me “you possibly have autism” and “you possibly have ADHD,” a diagnoses I WALKED INTO THE CLINIC WITH. then i was told to wait until may of 2025 to see about finishing up the eval and never heard anything, even after calling multiple times. recently, i asked for my records to be released to me as i need them for social security income filing. they refused, saying only the clinician can release them, which is not how that works at all. if you’re an adult who suspects they have autism, please find somewhere else to get tested, because this place will only overwhelm and overstimulate you.

I was referred here for testing by my primary mental healthcare provider. I had my intake appt with Erin on Feb 11; she behaved professionally but I truly can’t say that for anyone else at Vista. After finishing the first part with Erin I was told I’d be meeting with Dr. Humphries for additional testing but was given no more detail. Scheduling was an absolute nightmare - not just because it was messy and I had to work hard to get it figured out but also because all of the people who work at the front desk are awful. They are rude and impatient and did not seem to know how to properly perform their job functions. I finally met with Dr. Humphries on April 17, more than 2 months after I first tried scheduling. My experience with Dr Humphries - who is one of the owners of the practice - made me incredibly uncomfortable. I was not aware I would be testing with multiple people in the room; this made it difficult to concentrate as Dr Humphries was chatting with different people the whole time. He also made multiple inappropriate comments and jokes. I was scheduled for a return appt for May 6 with Dr Humphries - I thought I was going to get info/results, finally. Wrong. I met with Dr Humphries for about 20 mins and it was clear he had not looked at my file until that moment. He even joked he should have read it before. He made a joke about alcoholism/substance abuse. He was condescending and spoke down to me. I was charged for a full appointment just to have him read clumsily from a printed out report. He sent that report to me in the mail and as I read through it I realized half of the report had another patient’s name on it. It’s now June 1 and I went for what I was told would be my final review to go over everything. Another lie. I met with Erin for 15-20 minutes and she gave me a brief overview that included multiple acronyms and she breezed through them with no explanation. She then let me know I’d have to wait approximately 8 MORE WEEKS to get my final “report” with findings. I spoke with her briefly and let her know how stressful my experience had been and how uncomfortable Dr Humphries made me feel. It was clear from her response she didn’t care and had no intention of telling anyone. She even mentioned that he was one of the owners and just sort of shrugged. That was the second time I left an appt at Vista and sat in my car and cried until I could calm myself down enough to drive home. I will never return there and would not recommend anyone else go there either.

Short version: DO NOT GO TO VISTA!! As many of these reviews state, there is a HUGE problem with Vista. I started my journey of diagnosing and testing for ADHD back in October of 2025, and finally got my testing review back in February. At that appointment, I was told that I would have the report mailed to my house within the next 1-2 weeks. In late March, without a report for my primary care doctor, I am unable to schedule an appointment to receive proper care and treatment. Even then it takes about a month to get in. I called twice, and both times they said they would check with the therapist who did my testing and give me a call back. They never did. I called tonight once again to share my case and ask for the report so I could get a prescription. The receptionist was rude, interrupted me, and was entirely dismissive. I explained that I needed to get my medication started so I can test it while I’m still in school, and she completely cut me off by asking for a good phone number to call me back. I explained once again that I needed this because without it I cannot receive proper treatment. Listen, I’m a high school senior. I’m only 18. And what’s pathetic is that I am asking for something that should have been done months ago as promised, but instead my treatment is held up. It is now April and leaves me with no time to even try medication within its designed environment for learning. In addition to this, when I scheduled my review appointment after the testing was complete, the scheduling “office” reeked of weed. I would not trust this “establishment” with anything regarding mental health. It is pathetic, and I hope this review finds medical professionals well and informs them enough to not refer any of their patients!!

Hi As a recent new adult I was told I had to switch to a new therapist completely understandable with different lisensures. A week before my appointment they call and cancel saying she doesn’t take my insurance anymore I offered to pay cash she said she could not take that. I am now stuck without an appointment or any medication as i had waited since december with this on the books. I understand issues come about but a week before after being on your books for 3mo with the knowledge my prescription is running out and that’s why I can’t reschedule is unacceptable. Lovely Thetapists horrible structure for services
