About Avalon Center – Closed
Avalon Center was an outpatient treatment facility located just east of Lowman Beach Park in Seattle, Washington. They provided various services and treatment options aimed at aiding the recovery of men and women (aged 18 and older) struggling with addictions to alcohol or illicit substances. Although Avalon is now closed, their psychiatric specialist still provides in person mental health services in Normandy Park as well as online.
Helping Patients from the Start
Avalon Center was a place where you could get an assessment to gauge the level of care best suited to your circumstances. They were also one of the locations authorized to provide a court orderd DUI assessment. Part of their assessments could include a psychiatric evaluation during which their specialist would assess whether you needed treatment for both an addiction and a co-occuring mental health diagnosis.
Treatment for Men, Women, and Families in Lowman Beach Park
Their addiction treatments were designed to fit the specific needs of the person seeking treatment, which included help with any gender specific struggles they had. For example, in their experience, more men came to them facing DUI charges, which led them to offer help for men facing prosecution within their counseling programs.
At Avalon, they would use various methods in individual counseling sessions to help their patients confront and overcome negative behavior patterns, including cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma therapy. Relapse prevention was another key focus of their counseling efforts. Group counseling and family therapy were also provided to help people feel a sense of growth in a community rather than trying to heal in isolation.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.
Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.
Effective drug rehab in Washington integrates care for the whole person, offering comprehensive solutions to addiction. Treatment methods address mental, physical, and relational aspects of substance abuse.
Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.
Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.
