About Bridgeway Crisis Intervention Services

Bridgeway Crisis Intervention Services (BCIS) in Hoboken, New Jersey is an urgent care center that provides crisis intervention to residents of Hudson County aged 18 and older. Care is geared towards individuals experiencing acute mental or behavioral health crises, including a substance abuse crisis. Medicare, Medicaid, and many private insurance providers are accepted. Financial assistance is available to those who are eligible so that everyone can afford the help they need.

Urgent Mental Health and Addiction Treatment Services on the Hudson River

The goal at BCIS is to help individuals in crisis regain control of their lives, with the team on hand to help them manage their symptoms, supporting them as they remain in the community as an alternative to heading straight to the emergency room.

Crisis intervention and support here are provided as part of a three step process. Services include initial support through crisis stabilization and de-escalation, including thorough risk and biospsychosocial assessments. Following this stage, clients can expect to get involved in their treatment planning, while engaging in individual and group therapy sessions.

Psychiatric evaluations are also provided to enable clients to access necessary medication management services. All clients are seen by a licensed clinician the same day they present for services. As for the length of care, this varies depending on the individual. While for some, one or two visits are enough, others may benefit from the maximum enrollment period of 30 days.

Connecting You with Further Resources

Along with illness management and treatment services, the team here can also provide linkages and referrals for ongoing care as needed. This also includes information and referrals for stable housing solutions and shelter, as well as financial assistance.
Transport services are also provided, including light rail and bus passes to help clients get to their appointments with ease. Appointment reminders are set up as well to help clients keep track of their scheduled sessions.

Poor excuse for a mental health facility. Had an intake appointment on 4-14-2021. Eval stated I did not require IOP or inpatient which is a significant revenue maker over individual therapy. (My subsequent therapist recommended IOP). Told I would hear shortly for individual therapy sessions. Stopped by 2 weeks later to check on timeline for contact. Told would hear shortly as Director has been out and needed to review. Called a week later and the receptionist stated they have too many patients and cannot handle what they have. To date, 6-04-2021) I have not been contacted for an appointment. However, Medicare was billed and payment accepted for eval for therapy (was determined that I met therapy requirements) Seems like misrepresentation all around (services and also billing for an eval that had no follow up.) I will be disputing payment through Medicare channels. Zero stars would have been given had that been an option

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

This place is awesome and they really care about the clients. The therapists take their time to understand and work with the client . I’ve been here for a few months and I’ve seen progress in my treatment. I really enjoy going to this place and I believe everyone should give it a chance :)

I went there looking for help. I've been unstable for some time. But this therapist that interview me took it personally. If u want more info. U can contact me. The other person she gave my file to didn't accept me because as she said "i don't know u" i told her i would sign a release form for my primary doctor. Discrimination :that's what this is about. I was honest about something n they used it against me.

My son's counselor Kimberley Willyard, became enamored with my son's abuser, completely ignored the domestic violence gravely affecting him and covered up medical neglect. Definitely wouldn't recommend this place.

Doctors are great but good luck getting past the receptionist. All I get is run arounds. I called 3 days in advance to cancel an appointment and the receptionist marks me as a no show. Then they make you wait longer. This isn’t good especially if you have a child low on medication. They don’t take the patients seriously. Also it is very difficult if you want any records. They took three weeks to find my chart. I even went in person. They said it was missing. They really need to get it together. I’m finding a new place.
