Embark Behavioral Health at Marion Montana was a Godsend! Our son had been in and out of mental health facilities over the past several years only to end up needing intensive mental health care again. However, his time at Embark bought healing and helped to set him on the road to recovery. The staff demonstrated grace, patience, empathy, compassion and love as tbey worked with him and my wife and I to help him experince genuine healing. We are truly grateful and thankful to God for using the gifts and talents of the Embark team. We can't say enough good things and we highly recommend their services!

I'm sure this is a fine company. But, any company that employs Ruth Richards needs to be thoroughly investigated. I'm not going to make any direct accusations. But, it's in your best interest to investigate who people are in charge of your precious teens. I'm positive Embark will take this down. Which will clearly prove there's something to be looked at. But, you're smart. You don't blindly trust. You definitely understand that these folks will have total control over your teens mind and surroundings. So, do your homework. It's not beyond comprehension to know exactly who you are dealing with. Ask to talk to other teens who are "success stories." God luck and good speed!

This post is long overdue- we left Embark in Flathead last year- but first started in a local Embark MH center -but my child s needs escalated- it was in days we went from IOP > needing residential care. Due to the high waiting lists and urgent need the only beds were in MT, or UT, both thousands of miles from home. Our child picked MT. The team quickly helped us convert her in network care to residential care and I was notified on a Friday she needed a higher level of care and she was admitted the following Wednesday. Reading the information was so overwhelming, but once getting her there I was at ease. I stayed in town to be near her, despite the waiting period and did our first family therapy in person/ my spouse via Skype. They did exercises, talk therapy, etc, it varied but was so very helpful..plus the therapist did many other 1:1 activities that were helpful for my child and us to understand. It was very customizable depending on your child s needs. . Our therapist never made anyone feel at fault! The staff was warm and welcoming. They went through all the details with us and were reassuring. We received a great tour and we were involved with med management and we were notified of ups and downs. Sending a child away is gut wrenching so her therapist JM ( who we deeply miss) set me up with another mom from my area who had been through this. That was so helpful. My spouse and I alternated flying out every few weeks to be at Family Therapy and take our child on day passes. It s very stressful for the family and child as being surrounded by other children with challenges has its own set of issues, but the therapists, directors and life coaches care deeply for the kids. I can t say enough about the staff and my child really liked almost everyone on staff. The experiences the kids went on we cool, connected to nature and healing from what my child has said. From trying to net spawning salmon, going to parks and getting holidays trees, to movies, art and horses! Plus they went outside on walks daily! MH was the priority and though that was stressful thinking about missing school my child did well when they went back. The insurance is a dragon that can blow your child s stay at any time, so we fought very hard if we were given possible signs or clues they might d/c the child before they are ready- I never felt like that was greed, but rather genuine caring that my child wasn t ready to step down and all insurance is different. That was stressful, but there were kids yanked after a week or two so yes the process is anxiety provoking. The staff reassured us we wouldn t have to get her the next day if insurance was pulled and my child stayed 10 weeks 5 days when max is about 12- so once we did the appeal process we knew even those extra days gave our child time to keep healing and we got to go home. My child was ready to leave, but as a parent I fought for every day so I knew I gave them the best possible outcome and chance to be ready to step down. I sleep better knowing we got my child the most time possible! We only want to do this once. DBT has been great and now our child knows it so well they can use other resources. They did a great job of adjusting our child with a bed available to our local Embark PHP program which our child then entered. Again there were some insurance snafus but that is for my local Embark review. The actual Embark at Flathead is a newer location / it was a boarding school and drama happened that was under different circumstances, conditions and staff. I combed the reviews of Embark and the old academy, and since Embark took over, it was 5 stars. My child started the healing process and it continues, but without this step I shudder at the what if scenario! I am forever grateful and thankful to the amazing people and staff who care for children in crisis. Thank you - my child is stronger and your approach was gentle and effective. We hope to visit, but if needed I would send my child back.Best,M & M

Levels of Care

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Often referred to as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) provides structured therapy and support while allowing you to return home each day. PHP treatment is often used as a short-term alternative to inpatient hospitalization or a step-down option after a residential program. With a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week for an average of 90 days, PHP treatment often provides relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy services. Most providers offer coverage for PHP treatment.

Treatments

Montana's dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs provide comprehensive care for individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions. Outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization levels of care are available. Therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy, or dialectical behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, and experiential therapy address both disorders simultaneously and promote overall health. The benefit of dual diagnosis is that both conditions are treated at the same time, drastically increasing the odds of successful long-term recovery.

It is important to address mental health in rehab because we know that some mental conditions like depression and anxiety can be the root causes of substance abuse. Many mental health disorder symptoms are extremely stressful and cause great anxiety, which often pushes people to use drugs or alcohol as a coping mechanism. On the other hand, substance abuse directly increases a person's chances of developing a mental health condition.

Clinical Services

During cognitive behavioral therapy in Montana, patients learn to be their own therapists. They develop coping skills so they can change their thinking and behavior in day to day life. This helps them overcome mental and substance use disorders.

Family therapy offers a platform for open and honest dialogue about the challenges that addiction has created within the family unit. Using guided sessions, your therapist helps family members develop healthy communication skills and address unresolved issues. By working together, families can help support their loved one's sobriety.

Part of drug and alcohol addiction treatment is the use of individual therapy to encourage a collaborative process between the therapist and the patient. This helps uncover the root causes of substance use and address the personal experiences and emotional struggles that may drive addictive behavior. Ultimately, patients gain insight and develop new coping skills to support recovery.

Group therapy sessions for men and women are facilitated by trained therapists who incorporate evidence based therapies to help you recover from drug and alcohol addiction. Therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing help support lasting change and sustainable recovery.

This is one of those reviews that you cannot say enough good about the service provided. If you are researching for a place to send your child, I would first say that you are not alone. My second response would be that you could not find a better place than Embark Behavioral Health in Marion Montana to bring your child too. My information for years since adoption was do not send your child away as this will result in her going backwards, not forwards. Well, after a year of continual bad decisions that was getting to the point of her safety and well being completely compromised, and the trauma that she had endured both prior to adoption and after, I knew I had to do something. I researched many places to which some said no, well a lot said no. Embark did a lengthy but well needed interview process to ensure that this was the right place for my daughter. When she was accepted into Embark in MT, I had no doubt that this was the best place for her thanks to that process. From the time we walked onto the campus, until I cried flying home without her; I had a peace that she was right where she needed to be. My expectations were not only met but they were exceeded. At first of course my daughter was happy then not happy to be there. Once she settled in then she was off to the races in her healing. I told her that this is her opportunity to find healing and start a new path in her life so she can either embrace it or walk away and still have all the trouble. Fortunately, she chose the first and has worked very hard with her more than perfect for her counselor, the group sessions and with the amazing life coaches that are always there and ready to support her. My daughter is a challenge and they knew EXACTLY what to do for her. I am amazed by the structure they have to keep them safe, the well-rounded support from so many wonderful team members, to the food which 99% of the time my daughter liked, to the opportunity for phone calls, family therapy sessions, emails and general updates that I received on a regular basis. She connected with her counselor very well and he ensured her sessions were scheduled in a manner that even gave them some outside walking time when the weather was good. She has come SO far and to the point that she is not the troubled child I dropped off. She is not done yet, there is now the job of her taking all that she learned and applying it to her life. She left angry at me and hating anything about her life to now giving me yes Ma’am, no Ma’am, being grateful for anything I have done for her, to even talking to me about her behaviors. Being able to visit her for a few weekends while she was there also gave us both the opportunity to work on our relationship and each one of them was wonderful! One anecdote I will share is that she complained at first about the other kids. I told her that she too is one of those kids and that each of them needed help. I also told her what a better place to learn how to work with difficult relationships or situations, than in a place where counselors and life coaches are there to work with all of you in a positive way. Even when she struggled with some of the other kids, she was able to stay on task, focus on herself and the role she played in the situation. The counselors and life coaches were always there to give guidance and support to grow. It didn’t matter if it was in the gym during a game of basketball, during movie time, an outing, meal time, or group therapy, she was always finding opportunities to grow. As you can see, I cannot say enough good about Embark in Marion MT. This is exactly what my girl needed to start her journey on the right path. The girl I am bringing home is not the same girl I dropped off and for that I will be eternally grateful; we are blessed.

The staff at Embark are a fabulous bunch of people. I did not meet one person who wasn't kind, knowledgeable, and wanting to relate to my son. The facility is wonderful. It feels like a large camp with beautiful structures. I appreciated that students were not inside all of the time but could walk from building to building. My son's counselor was very insightful and helped us understand our son's psychology more. If you are reading this, you likely feel stuck and at a loss at how to help your child. It's scary researching and not knowing what a place is like. I was so pleased with Embark's efforts to help my son and would recommend it without reservations.

Embark at Flathead Valley has changed my life for the better in so many ways. Both my admissions there were eye-opening and critical to my recovery. Embark taught me so much about accountability, open communication and validation. The staff there are beyond amazing and are dedicated to the success, support and safety of their clients. The treatment team and management at this facility are outstanding and easy to work with. Although they no longer have there horse program which was one of my favorite activities there, they do their best to make outings frequent and engaging. They are working on building a mini farm with lots of animals to still give kids time to bond and take care of animals. I highly recommend this program to anyone looking for a short term residential facility.

Embark has not only changed my childs life but they changed our family life. We as parents where at a loss with how to help our child with the dangerous behaviors and amounts of trouble he was participating in. Embark was so supportive during the admitting process, stayed in constant communication while our child resided in their care, provided safe and healthy family therapy sessions, encouraged visiting in person, but the most comforting thing through this process was the support they provided us parents one on one. This is not a lock down facility, this is a Ranch style of living in the most beautiful mountain range in Montana. Every staff member we had communication with was so companionate and genuine. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Embark. I cant thank you all enough for making such a positive impact on my child and family.
