About Fairview Health Services

A group-based approach is key to their dual disorder program that aims to stabilize your symptoms and improve your capacity to manage daily stressors. With a focus on a cooperative team approach, this program brings together medical experts committed to providing you and your family with quality care.

For approximately 6-12 months, you’ll have regular clinic visits to track your progress during the acute stabilization phase. Following stabilization, the program supports your recovery and maintenance by facilitating a seamless transition to continuing care providers either in the clinic or in the larger community.

Additionally, the clinic provides dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), which is designed especially for people who have trouble controlling their emotions or who act impulsively in ways that can cause problems in their lives. The knowledgeable staff is prepared to evaluate and care for people who are in serious emotional distress.

This program is available to teenagers and adults, with some services available for clients as young as 13. They require a six-month commitment that consists of two hours of skills group per week in addition to one hour of individual therapy.

Due to the program’s Minnesota Department of Human Services certification, strict adherence to care standards is guaranteed.

Seen promptly, the nurse and the x-ray tech were friendly, professional and personable. Dr. John B Rogers (Orthopedic Surgeon) was very informative, explained my medical condition very well, was thorough explaining the diagnosis of my xray. He answered all my questions and gave me several options and the risks involved with each option. I feel very confident in his skills to perform the surgery we had discussed on my hand.

I've been to the urgent care twice on Saturdays and both experiences were quite negative. First visit didn't receive the proper meds for pneumonia, lungs got better but developed a sinus infection. Missed an entire additional week of work that was completely avoidable. Second visit the same practitioner came in very rude after I sat for an extended wait time. She spoke over me, didn't listen to the symptoms of what I knew I had. Feel she's incompetent and 0 bed side manner. She's likely aware I complained about my initiative consultation with her and was angry I reported her incompetence. Won't return to Andover.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Here doctors prescribe meds like it was candy. The online wait time estimate is not even close to the real wait time, so that is basically a joke.

Terrible experience with ophthalmology. I will NEVER go back here!! Rude staff members all around- front desk, technician, doctor. Passive aggressive. Did not treat my son fairly. I do not feel like he got an actual eye exam. Staff were getting frustrated with him that he didn’t know every letter or number. I felt like we were not treated fairly and I will NEVER go back here and will NEVER recommended this clinic to anybody!!!!

The front desk lady here was very rude and invasive, she wouldn't let me make an appointment unless we convinced her what city we lived in even tho I've lived in this city for 35 years, an she tried making me put down what religion we are? What does where I live or what religion u am matter to treating my son medically, do not go to this place

After going through some negative situations at other locations Christine M. Jensen at this location has truly been a breath of fresh air along with her nurse which I believe her name is Kristen. (I’m so sorry if I got that wrong) This doctor and her care team are so compassionate and kind. They treat you like actual human beings instead of another number walking through the doors. I have never felt so heard or cared for before. I wish there were a million of her at every location, because if there were healthcare would be an entirely different and positive experience. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart. I hope everyone who reads this gives her a chance.

I was misdiagnosed at this urgent care clinic with Eustachian tube failure following sudden hearing loss to one ear. This occurred with 2 providers: at my first urgent care visit the day after losing hearing and one week later at my follow up visit. I followed the prescribed course of treatment with no improvements. This delayed time critical intervention for my actual condition : Sudden Sensoneural Hearing Loss (SSNHL) with Tinnitus If I had been properly diagnosed and immediately prescribed oral prednisone, my hearing may have been quickly restored. Fortunately, on the advice of a friend, I had made my own back up appointment with Dr. Ilya Perepelitsyn, a top specialist at ENTSC in St. Louis Park. I saw him about 2 weeks after my first appt at MHealth Fairview. He examined me and immediately told me I was the victim of a misdiagnosis and useless treatment plan. He told me mine was an emergency condition which should have been treated as such. He also told me that only a provider - not a patient - can properly diagnose this condition as the symptoms can attend more than one illness. He educated me on sudden Sensoneural hearing loss (SSNHL) , immediately prescribed both oral steroids followed by steroid injections through my eardrum simultaneous with 20 hyperbaric oxygen treatments at Abbot Northwestern Hospital. He also prescribed an MRI to rule out a possible benign tumor on the auditory nerve. ThIs is the standard treatment pathway for SSNHL. He told me that an immediate correct diagnosis and proper intervention would have given this treatment a higher probability of success. My hearing has not returned and I am speaking with malpractice attorneys. I very strongly recommend you avoid this clinic to avoid receiving incompetent medical cares. I am moving to Allina Clinics myself.

BEWARE of Fairview's billing practices!!! We have had 2 separate incidents with their billing. One where they sent me a bill for a visit that my ex took my son in to be seen for (separate insurance, separate household, we've always paid separately). When i called, Fairview refused to update the bill to his dad's account and told me I needed to pay it because they put the charge under my account. They said it's not their problem and they don't get involved if the parents handle paying separately and to contact his dad if I wanted to be reimbursed, even though it was their fault for billing under the incorrect account. It's crazy because the bill they sent me was under my ex's insurance which is not even associated with my account. The second was when we took my son to urgent care and he had a chest x-ray done. They charged us 2 co-pays plus the radiologist charge, even though it was all done at the same clinic during the same visit. When I called, I was bounced around and spent hours on the phone, with the end result still that the charge is correct because they charge separate for x-rays and the doctor. We were not made aware of this until we received the bill and I called. Note, this was for an ongoing issue he'd been experiencing for 6 months so we already went to 2 other clinics that did chest x-rays and they did not charge separately. It's robbery. I will say, the doctor was thorough and we liked her, however due to the billing practices we won't be going back. If you do go here, proceed with caution....
