About Footprints Beachside Recovery

Addiction-related treatments at this facility include inpatient addiction treatment, dual diagnosis treatment, outpatient addiction treatment, sober living, and specialized programming for separate men’s and women’s treatment.

Residential Addiction Treatment
Men and women are separated into their own inpatient treatment programs that are designed to help them identify triggers, develop healthy coping skills, and build a solid foundation for sobriety. Treatment components include group, one-on-one, and family therapy, health counseling, relapse-prevention planning, and aftercare planning.

Outpatient Addiction Treatment
An intensive outpatient program (IOP) is available virtually or in person in the evenings. Outpatient sessions focus on group therapy, individual therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, family therapy, relapse-prevention skills, and communication skills. The IOP involves around 27 hours of treatment per week, while the regular outpatient program (OP) provides between nine and 15 hours of treatment per week. The OP includes individual and group therapy, holistic therapy, motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioral therapy.

Sober Living
Footprints’ sober living environment bridges the gap between treatment and everyday life. It offers peer-to-peer support and weekly house meetings. Residents are required to maintain employment, meet curfews, and submit to drug testing.

My experience at Footprints Beachside Recovery was truly life-changing. Through their program, I was able to experience 90 days of sobriety and gain a completely new perspective on life. The therapists were compassionate, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in my recovery. My therapist, Randi in particular, helped me work through challenges and develop the tools I needed to move forward with confidence. While I did not stay in the housing program, I saw firsthand how much effort the staff puts into supporting clients at every level of care. From transportation to AA meetings and recovery-focused activities to team-building events and recreational outings, they do an excellent job creating a supportive environment. One of the unique aspects of the program is its location—the beach is only a short walk away, providing a peaceful place for reflection and healing. Recovery is never easy, but Footprints Beachside Recovery gave me the structure, support, and encouragement I needed during an important chapter of my life. I am grateful for the experience and would recommend them to anyone seeking help and a fresh start.

Footprints was the exact Recovery treatment I needed. While I was in and out of some facilities that were all more of a “lockdown” style recovery, they felt forceful and reminded me more of jail then anything else. That may be what some people need however for my personality I needed something more welcoming, felt like it was my decisions and didn’t have me more worried about getting out of there then actually learning anything. Footprints is exactly that. Randy is not your typical therapist that reminds me of a detective “decoding you”. She felt more like a friend that listened, used other stories to relate to yours and never was afraid to call me out when I the devil on my shoulder was doing the talking for me. 10 stars if possible. I could go on but to keep it shorter, their program works! Sergio and Danny are some incredible guys, we’re in the same time as I and now part of the staff there. They Always held out a helping hand and a prime example of how well it works. I now have 1yr 7mo and have accomplished more in this short time that I have my entire life. Thank you Footprints!

I normally do not leave reviews, but I feel morally obligated to speak about my experience at this rehab and the long term negative effects its had on me. During my time there, I was going through an extremely severe mental health and trauma crisis after experiencing sexual violence. I repeatedly begged for help, support, trauma-informed care, and to be taken seriously. Instead, I felt dismissed, degraded, judged, and treated like I was lying. I specifically requested a different therapist because I felt unsafe, unheard, and emotionally attacked during sessions. Rather than feeling supported, I often felt threatened and shamed. At one point, I felt like staff were more focused on punishment and control than actual treatment or recovery. I also later learned that required progress reports connected to my probation were allegedly not properly sent, which caused major stress and fear for me after I had worked extremely hard to complete probation successfully. I have documentation, emails, texts, medication records, and communications showing how desperately I was asking for help during that time. The environment itself also felt deeply unhealthy for recovery. Patients were publicly humiliated in glass rooms when they made mistakes, and the atmosphere often felt punitive instead of therapeutic. I watched people cycle in and out repeatedly, which honestly made me question whether long-term recovery was truly the priority. There were multiple incidents where my belongings and car were searched because staff assumed I was using substances, when in reality I was severely depressed, dissociated, and mentally struggling. I also felt pressured regarding legally prescribed medications despite trying to be honest about my mental health needs. One of the most painful parts of this experience was feeling invalidated after disclosing trauma. Instead of receiving compassion and trauma-informed support, I felt blamed and interrogated. Comments suggesting I should “just call the police” completely ignored the reality that many survivors are terrified, overwhelmed, or not emotionally ready to report. Randy and Thereasa truely wanted to see me fail, and I have proof. My PO telling the courts this will also be proof, as they neglected to follow my POs requests , even after I signed a ROI for him. I entered treatment needing trauma therapy, stabilization, and support. I left feeling more traumatized than when I arrived. Months later, I was diagnosed with Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. I hope this facility seriously reevaluates how it handles trauma survivors, mental health crises, patient dignity, and communication with vulnerable clients. People entering treatment deserve compassion, professionalism, and safety — not shame, fear, or humiliation. • Patient neglect • Failure to provide trauma-informed care • Emotional abuse or humiliation • Unsafe therapeutic environment • Retaliatory or coercive behavior • Mishandling probation-related documentation • Inadequate mental health response • Failure to appropriately respond to sexual assault disclosures • Possible ethical violations • Medication-management concerns • Boundary concerns/inappropriate conduct • Patient rights concerns • Failure to individualize treatment needs • Excessive control/punitive practices • Potential negligence I will have to file a complaint with the state licensing , as well as contact a malpractice/ injury attorney. Do better next time.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Clients typically choose inpatient rehab when they are in early recovery or are experiencing a crisis that puts them at an increased risk of relapse. They reside at the treatment center for the length of their program, which may range from two weeks to more than 18 months, depending on the program design. Intensive psychotherapy is often the primary treatment modality, but clients in inpatient care may also receive holistic treatment and recovery-focused life skills training.

Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. The IOP program can be anywhere from 9 to 15 hours a week.

Rehab aftercare programs are a collection of highly individualized services designed to promote long-term recovery. These services evolve as your needs change. Case managers and recovery teams typically begin formulating the rehab aftercare service plan early in the recovery process to facilitate your reintegration back into the home, workplace, and community.

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don't require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for ~ 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals. At Footprints, the PHP program is 27 hours a week.

24-hour clinical care in Florida is an essential part of treatment, particularly with medical detox. Withdrawal symptoms can be severe, and supervised detox provides around the clock access to medical professionals who can adminsiter proper medications and treatment to address these symptoms and step in should an emergency occur. This intensive clinical care will help curb the withdrawal effects, minimize substance dependence, and prepare you for the next step of treatment.

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

I just want to start off by saying that if you are having trouble getting or staying sober, There is hope. Foot Prints Beachside Recovery and all staff have gotten me to not just learn this but know in my heart that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I’m 38 years old and can’t remember a time where I had any sort of sobriety. Today I am a little over 7 months into this journey to a healthier way of life and I could not think of a better place for anyone else to be to also get this same help, guidance and love than with Foot Prints in Treasure Island Florida. The Staff. The location. The housing. The activities. In the past 7 months I’ve been in treatment I couldn’t not have asked for anything more. I’ve never been treatment. Nor have I aloud anything like this to enter my life. I can easily say today I could not have made a better decision not just for myself but for my kids and family to have their father and their son back better than ever. Thank you John Jr, Scott, Teresa, Kristen, Randi, Mike, John Sr, Phil, Halle, Kelley (Techs) Danny, Frank, Charles, Alli, and Sergio With all your love and support - today I can now say I’m sober and can be a father to my children, Ava Aiden And Ashton. With Out you guys none of this would be possible. Thank you again, Jeremy
