Would NOT recommend even putting in an application. We were approved for a dog, met the dog, my husband fell in love with the dog. So we scheduled an appointment to have our dogs meet and make sure it was a good match. Not even 24 hours before I scheduled time I received a text stating another application had come in and the rescue decided it would be best for the dog to be adopted to another family. There reason was ... this new adoption application had no dogs but in his profile it stated he was good with other dogs (otherwise we would have never completed an application). Don't trust this rescue, they will break your heart!!!

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Clients who are exiting detox or intensive inpatient treatment often enroll in outpatient rehab programs to ensure a robust continuity of care. Outpatient programs allow clients to remain in or return to their homes and workplaces while continuing to receive treatment, which typically includes addiction counseling and recovery-focused life skills training. Clients in opioid and/or alcohol recovery may also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT), including medication induction and maintenance, at an outpatient facility.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
If you think a loved one needs help with substance abuse, but they are not seeking treatment, it may be time for a drug intervention in Maryland. Intervention services can help you with this effort. During the intervention, loved ones share how their addiction-related behavior has affected them and encourage the individual to get treatment. The intervention specialist helps facilitate the conversation and explain how treatment can help.

Treatments

Alcohol use disorder (AUD), commonly referred to as alcoholism, can be classified as mild, moderate, or severe. Each category involves unhealthy patterns of alcohol consumption and can cause harmful effects. To treat alcohol addiction at any level, alcohol rehab in Maryland is often necessary. These treatment programs provide psychological, social, and medical supports that help individuals overcome alcohol addiction and maintain long-term recovery.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Once a person has become addicted to a substance, drug rehab in Maryland is often necessary to overcome that addiction. These programs provide the tools individuals need to manage the physical, mental, and emotional issues involved and begin a successful recovery journey.

Maryland's addiction experts understand the importance of dual-diagnosis addiction treatment in their inpatient and outpatient recovery programs. Dual-diagnosis means having two mental health disorders at the same time, like addiction and depression. By treating individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions simultaneously, they can enhance recovery outcomes and improve overall health, reducing the risk of relapse. Programs include evidence-based therapies, family counseling, recovery support groups, and skills training. Additional services may include medically assisted detox, 12-Step facilitation, equine therapy, complementary treatments, and alumni programs.

In Maryland, substance abuse treatment programs support individuals struggling with drugs or alcohol, and those who also have mental health conditions. These rehab programs vary, depending on the level of care you need. That might include inpatient rehab, or an outpatient program. Typically, substance abuse treatment includes evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), recovery support meetings, and skills groups to equip you with new coping strategies when you leave rehab.

Treatment for drug and alcohol addiction often centers on improving mental health. Inpatient care is ideal for people who need closer monitoring while receiving therapeutic and mental health services. Standard therapies include group and individual counseling, relapse prevention education, coping skills training, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing and family support groups. With all critical therapies combined, there is a greater chance for improving mental health and achieving sustained recovery.

I donated here and instead of saying thank you I got “is that it?” They must have enough. So much that the entitlement has outgrown their manners. So they might not need donations.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
Hi Jaya – Thank you so much for reaching out with your concerns. We value every donation that is made to Grassroots, and they are all significant in helping us serve those who are in crisis or dealing with homelessness. We are sorry to hear that you did not feel appreciated. We never want that to be the case, as we are thankful for your support and feedback. We’d love to talk to you further. If you’d feel comfortable, please reach out to info@grassrootscrisis.org so we can better understand what happened. We appreciate you and wish you the best.

I been homeless with my family and 7 of them are children 18-1 yrs old. When I gave my information I was told my family would not be broken up. My son turned 18 doing this and he is still a high school student and they wanted him to be on his own while me and my other children stay together. That's breaking the family up right there and is not healthy for him to be around them drug addicts etc. The people that run code blue have no hearts and don't deserve their jobs. I lived in my car for 5 months while being denied for several houses all through Maryland been discriminated against because of income and having children when I had good credit etc. They don't understand that everybody's not a bum or a low life because they are homeless. I did everything I was supposed to do I had my home where I came from for 8 years but the owner wanted to sell the property. Also when you mention other departments that break with grassroots they get jealous and say please don't mention that person's name be working another department. Well if it wasn't for these people you wouldn't have them asking you for shelter. So shout out to them and they're wonderful sweet loving warm welcoming arms I wish these people had control of Cold Blue shelte. These people only offered me shelter once and the other times someone falsely put in system I refused shelter. I stayed in code blue hotel but these last two big storms I was told no hotel room for my family. I had to spend all my security deposit to keep from us passing away from the cold. These people think it's a joke and never want to give you their information name etc but want your whole life history etc. They rather help drug addicts before us mother out here it's very surprising how they treat us and waste our time. I even told the executive director and she agreed with them and told me no help with hotel during this past storm. I know y'all all heard about that family in Detroit that could have been us. They don't deserve funds and need to be investigated.

I lived here with my child in 2011 for about a year. It was very nice and clean. We had a private bedroom that we were allowed to lock when we left. The staff was very kind and caring. It helped my family a lot. I met several lifelong friends that lived there during the same time and they were also helped. Ultimately, I had to find my own housing (I would have it no other way) but Grassroots really came through for us when we needed it.

They ask you all these questions just to say they don't have room and try to send you to Baltimore.

Grassroots Crisis Center does not seem to care about the crisis you’re going through. I called, got halfway through the housing questionnaire then they directed me to instead call other crisis relief programs because I was forced out of a living situation that was violent. It was so discouraging for the first agent to refuse to add me to the list for resources, but I followed her instructions and contacted the other crisis centers to be denied by both. I called back and the tone of disdain the agent had as if I was bothering him as a disabled homeless person asking for help. I feel defeated at this point, my voice is breaking from crying from frustration because every agency in Howard County besides HopeWorks, who’s at capacity, has given me the run around not wanting to deal with it and I’ve heard others have the same experience. Even though I followed their instructions the agents suddenly claimed there was nothing he or she could do but give me a list of public shelters.
