About Health Connect America

Health Connect America provides substance abuse and mental health treatment for adolescents and adults in Memphis, Tennessee. They offer outpatient services, which allow flexibility for those wanting to continue working or attending school.

I found one interesting aspect of the program is the focus on preventing the need for higher care levels. They work to support you and keep you in the comfort of your home while getting the treatment you need to overcome addiction.

Case management is provided to connect guests to outside agencies or resources for continued recovery support. Your care manager can access housing, healthcare, insurance and transportation assistance.

The team at Health Connect understands that addiction affects our loved ones, too. They provide family-centered care, using a trauma informed approach to address relationship issues in the family and help them understand how substance use affects thinking and behaviors. Their family centered treatment lasts six months or less.

Their intensive in-home program helps children and adolescents at risk of being removed from their homes because of substance use or mental health conditions. This service is intended to reunite the family members and help them move past negative challenges.

They also offer therapeutic foster care for children with behavioral, medical and developmental issues. Their structured environment encourages community integration, family connections and individual well being. The staff will coordinate treatment with your primary care team to provide the most effective service. The goal is to help you break unhealthy cycles and move toward hope and health with independence as a sober community member.

I don't even know if this place is real before my appointment I called to ask if they can give me a letter to make my bird my emotional support bird and they tell me yes. Fast-forward I get there and they tell me no they can't do it I'm just not understanding why not when clearly a therapist or a psychologist can do it which I seen both. That gave me so much anxiety because I believed them when they said they will give me the letter and I get there and the wouldn't I could have made an appointment somewhere else that would provide me what I needed but they definitely billed my insurance though

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
To keep you safe and comfortable during the detoxification process, a medically assisted detox provides you with a team of medical professionals who can provide the necessary medications to treat any potential withdrawal symptoms. Suddenly stopping chronic abuse of substances like alcohol, benzodiazepines, or opioids can have uncomfortable and even dangerous side effects.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills training teaches you how to cope with challenging situations in non destructive ways. This crucial piece of drug rehab in Tennessee gives you tools for decision making, relationship building, and self care.

So inconsistent with treatment plans and diagnosis. Most of the staff members seem out way too immature for their jobs.

They do not follow through with anything. I have been waiting months to get an appointment for my sin. Now they call just to check on him nothing more than that. I think it's poor service when all you do is call every blue moon however they have never er seen my son nor had a formal conversation. This place needs to be shut down because I don't see how they serve a purpose to anyone.

They have, repeatedly, let my son run out of his much needed medication. You call the office, they send you to ring central. Okay, fine. So I called ring central in advance and left a detailed message, stating that my son was going to run out of his medicine before his next appointment and he needed a refill. This is the third or fourth time. It’s hard not just on my son, but on my husband, myself, and his teachers when I have to send my child to school unmedicated. Ring central tells you not to leave multiple messages, so as per their instructions, I left just the one. And that was days ago. My son took his last pill today. Ring central, the first couple of times he ran out, did send it to the pharmacy but did not reach out to let me know his meds had been filled. So, since I did not get a response from anyone, my first thought was to check the pharmacy. Nothing. This is irresponsible med management and I’m tired of my child bearing the brunt of this. Edit: I just received a call (no caller ID, as usual) stating that they sent my son’s medicine in 4 days ago TO THE WRONG PHARMACY. Nobody reached out to me until I left a voicemail both to Health Connect and Ring Central. This is the fastest they’ve ever responded, and I can only assume it’s because I told them they were being medically negligent. So now, instead of being informed four days ago that they sent a new Escript for my son, the pharmacy they DID send it to does not have it in stock. So here we are again with my son going without his much needed medication because it’s too much of a hassle for these people to properly take care of their patients and ensure quality care.

Went though like 3 therapists there and there was only one good but she was still in school so she had to go i guess and the other two were the worst Chirsta who would judge and tell me I’m wrong for thinking the way I think she also talked way too much about her life and Regina who was also my cousin’s therapist at the time and she told me that I traumatized my cousin so after she told me that I saw no reason to tell he my real problems and just told he lies. Now i am so mad because my family had to do a copay when y’all didn’t help me at all and I never said anything about how bad the therapist were because I was afraid to.

So disappointed in the level of care provided to the children in our community from this agency. Very inconsistent with treatment plans and diagnosis. They are unprofessional and have absolutely no regards to HIPPA policies or violations. Treating children with mental health issues is a serious thing, its not a joke and the kids are not coming to the office just because its exciting or fun for them, they are there to receive adequate care for ongoing mental health issues. I am so furious about the services provided by Health Connect America on Park Ave. My child is more than just an insurance claim, more than just a number on a billing statement. :(

Everyone seems out of touch, unprofessional or young-immature / ignorant !!! The one person I trusted is "Gone" and so is my child. I see why this particular person..... Now (Former Employee)... told me in advance to start our search for a more appropriate, meaningful therapeutic place. Thankfully we have!!😊
