Kathleen Garcia is a rock star hyarulonic gel knee injector. She thoroughly explained all my options pros/cons, the process before and while it was happening and made sure I was aware of how to care for myself during recovery. Absolutely thorough, professional, helpful and best of all, extremely kind

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Clients receiving treatment at an outpatient rehab typically do not require hospitalization or intensive supervision and support. Outpatient addiction counseling and recovery education are often offered during the morning, evening, night, and weekend, allowing clients to tailor treatment to their own schedule. Partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs are the most time-intensive and are designed for clients who are at an increased relapse risk and/or who need more robust therapeutic support.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab provides intensive treatment for clients exiting detox, those in early recovery, and those at an elevated risk of relapse. Unlike outpatient drug rehab, clients receiving inpatient care reside at the facility for the duration of the program. The length of stay may range from two weeks to 18 months or more, depending on the client's needs and the program's design. Inpatient treatment typically involves extensive addiction education and recovery-focused life skills training.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) support a client's sustained sobriety as they exit detox or step down from an inpatient program. IOPs are also designed for clients who are at an elevated risk of relapse. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in a minimum of nine hours of therapy per week, but clients may receive up to 20 therapeutic hours weekly. IOP treatment modalities often combine psychotherapy, recovery-focused life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
During the first phase of recovery – detox – it is crucial to have 24-hour clinical care in California. This care provides constant monitoring in order to ensure your safely and comfort as you progress through the withdrawal process for drug or alcohol addiction. Licensed professionals prescribe medications to treat withdrawal symptoms and provide frequent monitoring to ensure your safely as addictive toxins leave your system.

Treatments

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

California's mental health and substance abuse rehabs provide dual-diagnosis treatment options for individuals looking to address co-occurring disorders. These programs are usually offered on either an inpatient or outpatient basis. You can usually expect a mental health assessment and personalized treatment plan, evidence-based therapies, like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), experiential therapies like equine therapy, skills groups, and counseling to simultaneously address both mental health and substance abuse and drastically increase your chances of long-term sobriety.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

The customer service in this department has gone down hill rapidly. Besides my hand surgery when I was greeted by the surgeons assistant and only dealt with the surgeon and the assistant (they were fabulous) the staff is NOT very warm and fuzzy, no smiles, not friendly and basically act like robots that do not want to be there. Can’t stand Kaisers Walnut Creeks ortho department.

The surgeon Dr. Michael Andrew Pouliot and his assistant Mr. Alberto Galvez were rude, condescending, impatient, inconsiderate, lacked patience and compassion. I was made to feel insignificant and that my feelings and concerns were irrelevant. I left more confused and more upset than when I arrived. I also left in much more pain after the Doctor excessively squeezed my injured hand. It was a horrible experience. I was told to arrive 30 minutes early, at 8am. In which i would have time to speak with the surgeon 30 minutes before the scheduled surgery. They didn't even open until after 8am and I proceeded to wait until 8:28 with 3 or 4 individuals who arrived after me being seen 1st. Their professionalism and human decency were non existing. As a long time patient, over 2 decades of Kaiser, I'm ashamed that I had to go thru such a horrible experience.

Two words: professionalism and efficiency. I am not looking nor am I expecting a fun experience. After all this is a medical service provided by a medical provider/network. If I want fun I would go to an amusement park. But what I am seeking is competence, along with staff that know their positions and exercise responsibility towards them. The KP Walnut Creek Medical Center understands this and provides it.

I was in on Tuesday morning 5/13/25 for laparoscopic gallbladder removal I had (Clara Ha) in the pre-surgery department and she was the kindest, nurturing, and funniest nurse I have ever had .I had a major crying attack because I was so nervous and she really did everything to make me feel at ease .She checked on me multiple times, made sure I was okay ,and always let me know what was going on .She even went out of her way to tell me a story of how she used to cry when she was younger to make me feel better.I was so happy I was placed under her wing .She really went above and beyond for me and I cannot thank her enough for all her wonderful care.Second,I had a tall guy with glasses the anesthesiologist can’t remember his name he came to talk to me and had a very calm and easy going demeanor also making me feel at ease .Clara Ha had told me he is a girl Dad of 3 ,maybe that’s why he knows how to talk to an overly anxious girl thank you so much to him .Lastly ,my AMAZING surgeon (Jenny Jewan Sung) from the moment I talked to her on the phone I knew she knows exactly what she is doing .I really appreciate her so much for being so caring of wear to put the incisions to hide/camouflage them as best as possible. She was so genuine on how she would do it and was not careless doing it ,again I can not thank her enough and am so grateful I got placed under her hands .

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:

While there, I was seen by a doctor who I feel did not take my pain seriously. Despite my obvious distress (I was crying during the examination), the doctor seemed to dismiss my symptoms and implied I was exaggerating to obtain time off work. This experience was both upsetting and concerning, as my pain remains severe and unmanaged. I tried to explain to the dr about my job as a court reporter and how I cannot work with this injury. He would not listen to me about my job concerns and suggested that I could work modified duty. I tried to explain that I work in a courtroom taking down serious testimony at 200+ words per minute and there is no modified work. He said, I thought you could work from home??? Fortunately, a nurse at the clinic recognized my distress and arranged for a second opinion appointment.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
Thank you Danielle Dyer for reaching out. We appreciate hearing from our members and will escalate your concerns to the appropriate department. Our primary concern is that you have the care you need. Please contact us at kpdiablo@kp.org if we can assist. -Cherlene

As an elderly man am convinced that Kaiser wants me dead. I have many preexisting conditions and don't leave home much. My first time leaving in a month was to go to Walnut Creek Kaiser Permanente I was masked up with a true n95 had my hand sanitizer and I still got Covid at the Lab. Kaiser has no one cleaning anything not the chairs, the floors the doors and the dirt and filth are plainly visible. So now that I have Covid they won't prescribe me Paxlovid or anything, and they don't want me to come back in. So now am at home alone with a 103 fever. I think I may only last 1 or 2 days left. its very difficult to breath. So, I guess this is my end. Stay away from Kaiser Prementa. Thrive to Die
