About Mosaic Life Care

Mosaic Life Care is a health facility that offers drug and alcohol rehab. They are located in Saint Joseph, Missouri. They primarily treat people who have mental illness and struggle with substance use disorder at the same time. They accept private insurance and they have financial assistance for those who qualify.

This facility has a trained and licensed team of mental health professionals to help you. If a mental illness or traumatic experience has caused you to misuse drugs or alcohol, they will treat you with both group and individual therapy.

When a person with a mental health condition uses drugs, it often has an impact on those closest to you. They offer family therapy sessions here. You’ll be able to explain your struggles with addiction to your family and tell them how they can help you get sober. It is often easier to talk to loved ones when a therapist is there to act as a mediator.

Clients who struggle with substance use issues and mental health issues are often treated with dialectical behavior therapy. This type of treatment teaches people coping mechanisms for dealing with stress. It also teaches them to accept the reality of their situation and change their attitude toward that reality.

In addition to traditional psychotherapy, you may also be treated with relaxation therapy. This entails breathing techniques and meditation.

The room was huge, converts from labor/delivery room to an actual inpatient room. My labor experience was not just amazing; it was truly memorable because of your kindness and support. I was already 6cm when I came but I did not feel any panic, it was chill and calm. I especially appreciated how the nurses created a fun and light atmosphere, even while I was experiencing labor pains. Nurses/Techs were always there, checking in on me (since I was not a caller) haha, making sure I have ice water/comfy. Also to Dr. Kenny, who delivered my baby with incredible gentleness and expertise. Thank you all for making this journey so beautiful. Shout outs to Kelsey, Rachel, Ashlie and all the nurses/techs who took care of us.

Mosaic diagnosing every who smokes pot with Canniboid Hypermesis Syndrome instead of doing their due diligence is going to kill ppl. Held my life up for 6 years but they did finally discover the reason for my vomiting, but only once it caused a hernia. They were all very kind and caring at the hospital and ER every time I went, so i do appreciate them for that.

I live out of state and had an appointment with gastroenterology for a very low hemoglobin, inability to swallow solid foods and continuing rapid weight loss. My referral appointment was made in February. I already thought it should be scheduled quicker than 4 weeks out with the level of issues but I didn't push it. 4 weeks later, as I am driving into Missouri, I was called and rescheduled for another month later with absolutely no try to get me in to see another provider or apology for the 2 hour drive or lack of compassion when I am suffering grossly! I still have not been seen and strongly question the judgement and compassion of the caregivers for human life if this is how those that are sick are triaged and treated.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

ECT is a form of treatment in which controlled electric currents are passed through the brain, sometimes causing short seizures. Treatments are done under general anesthesia. ECT appears to change brain chemistry for the better, and has been shown to provide fast and sometimes dramatic improvements in severe mental health conditions that can exist alongside addiction, including depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and suicidality. ECT is also often used by those who prefer it to taking medication.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

The service once you get to the doctor is good, and the nurses are friendly and caring. Now, before you get that part there is a ton of people waiting to be attended, and they move so slow, and they are so inefficient.

Update to April 24th: called the day before the appt on told the the NP had "things to do that day" and they had to reschedule AGAIN. No, I didn't call them back and they placed as a no call no show on my record for the appt that was rescheduled for the 2nd time 3 months from the initial onset. Since then, I have had 4 procedures for my swallowing with 2 being upper endoscopy dilations and another one scheduled for today, as a matter of fact. . Will NEVER go to this hospital or any of their affiliate hospitals!

Our Mother passed away on 1-10-25 after being cared for in the ICU for several days and then later moved to the 5th floor for "comfort care" ICU Jeff B, Paige H, Tiffani M, Sarah B, and Makenzie H 5th Floor Abby B and others we didn't catch their names Each individual was unbelievably comforting and professional. In a world where many people think the younger generation do not care about others, they could not be more wrong. Their Peers should be proud as well, My Mother was not the best patient due to the pain she was in and the complications of her illness. We kept apologizing and each worker said, "we understand, its ok" "We don't take it home" Please pass on our gratitude and praise to these young professionals and I hope they all continue in this path as they are as much part of the healing as any medication or procedure. Proud and fortunate to have Mosaic here in Saint Joseph!

While I've never been a patient here, I did want to be an employee. However, after multiple attempts at trying to apply for the same position, I emailed them, describing the issue of not being able to complete the application after uploading my resume and filling out all of my experience, certifications and education, the system won't let you continue to submit the application! It doesn't give any errors, just jumps to the very top of the application. And then when you try to troubleshoot the issue, will delete ALL of the information that you just painstakingly entered!!! I received an email back, asking me to call them. So, I do that and was told that you cannot apply to jobs via a phone. It has to be completed via a laptop or desktop. So, for the 3rd or 4th time now, I've entered all of my required information from my laptop, and I'm still having the same issue of not being able to submit! At this point, I'm at a loss as to what to do. I've wasted like 4 hours of time over the last week and so, I can only assume that they: #1. Need a new IT team or #2 Don't really need to fill these positions. Either way, it's super frustrating! And just a thought, maybe display a banner BEFORE starting the application that says what specific device, operating system, etc that may be used.

I’ve worked with the public in customer service for years. I’ve worked at restaurants with higher standards than this hospital. Nurses are rude and neglectful. Leaving medical waste trash, gloves, and bloody pee puddles around their patients and in their beds without cleaning up after themselves. If I did that at my job I’d be reprimanded and potentially fired. Instead I have to, as a patient’s guest, clean up the trash nurses leave behind. Nurses leave patients alone for hours without checking on them, they may be swamped but that’s on the hospital for not giving them the support they need. You’ve got this area monopolized so no one has a choice without traveling to KC for better healthcare. I hope those UMKC students learning here realize they need to do much better than the standards you’re setting.
