I've been to a few hospitals in the Tulsa area, and this was by far the best one I've ever been to. The entire staff, nurses, and doctors were the most sincere, helpful, genuinely helpful, sincere, and caring that I have ever experienced. 10-star rating!!!!!

Showed up to labor and delivery because I woke up bleeding. They gave me an epidural and it was 0% effective. I was given Terbutaline through my IV not my shoulder during labor which instantly caused my body to go stiff and my body curled up. They threw me on my side and put me on oxygen. My body was in shock and the fetal heart rate increased. Baby was facing wrong way so moved her. While pushing during labor I was feeling very sick and the nurse told me to stop complaining and to think about the health of my baby because I needed her out due to her heart rate. Now after all this shock my baby seemed to be shivering and gasping for air and they instantly assumed that I abused drugs. (They administered Terbutaline wrong which is what caused the whole shock on baby and I) So they had me tested and drew vials of blood. Answered all their questions and let them know I was only on 5 mg of my depression medicine which I was told was safe by OB/GYN. They denied me telling the truth and demanded I tell them what drugs I used. Which I have never abused drugs as of my existence on planet earth. All the meanwhile I vomited. I was shivering for some reason and had egg sized blood clots coming out of me which I now realize I was hemorrhaging and my doctor who came back to check on me from Muskogee hospital noticed and gave me a medication. I was discharged 1 day before baby and they didn't feed her for 8 hours straight. Which caused my baby to be super irritable and they sent her to NICU at St. Francis in Tulsa and they said it was from drug withdrawals. Drove to the NICU she was at and thought everything was fine because St. Francis staff said the other hospital had it wrong and there was no correlation of drug withdrawals in our baby. They also stated my depression medicine showed to not have side effects on baby especially the dose I was on. She was discharged three days later and were told she had a heart murmur. We went home and had a DHS worker show up to our home thinking we were "fleeing" and that they were about to set an amber alert.... and take our children. Due to the misdiagnosis from Tahlequah City Hospital (Due to their own incompetence administering Terbutaline). We worked with DHS so they would not take my children even though all the drug tests showed that I've never abused drugs in my life. They only showed my depression medicine in low amounts. Since a case had been opened they had to finish the investigation. I live with anxiety and fear of losing my children because they do a terrible job at Tahlequah City Hospital. I delivered in 2019 and currently have so much trauma from it that I am thinking about suing the hospital to this day. (Attempted to sue but outside the 2 years of statutes of limitations) Also learned that someone in the hospital used my insurance for their personal use.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Staff is great. Admid’s ability to keep fully staffed is severely lacking. If a technician has a family emergency and can’t get to work the Director doesn’t have anyone on call or able to shift personnel to needed areas. Needs work 😡

This is the absolute worst hospitals ever! I took my baby there expecting to get help or some answers but all I was met with was dismissive comments! My baby could have died if I hadn't listened to my gut! I knew something was wrong with him! Thank goodness for Saint Francis hospital! This place needs to seriously change! Do not ever take your children or anyone else for that matter here! Just like Hastings they will let you die and say oops guess there was something wrong with you!

My son hurt his leg at school so I took him to City Hospital to get it checked out. I was so happy that they weren't busy & we got called back really quick to triage & from there straight to a room & then once we got to my son's room a good amount of people came in & I know that they are supposed to come in & hook everyone up to the monitors but like I said quite a few people then the Dr comes in asks a few questions & says he will order X-rays. So now the portable x-ray comes in & they do their thing & about 30-45 minutes later the Dr comes back in & says that there may be a possibility of a fracture on the growth plate in his left knee so we'll treat it as such so crutches & a leg brace for a week & then x-ray it again!! So next the nurse comes in & she puts the brace on my son & the three of us are just chit chatting away & then the nurse has my son slowly scoot to the end of the bed & she shows my son how to use the crutches properly which I really really appreciated her doing & after that we were released!! I just have to say all the staff that helped my son that day were all so super amazing, nice & made my son feel so good & safe which is so so important to me so thank you City Hospital for taking such good care of my sweet baby!!!!
