About Nystrom and Associates – Maple Grove Clinic

Nystrom and Associates is a behavioral health facility located in Maple Grove, Minnesota. At this location, they offer outpatient drug and alcohol rehab services. They treat adults who suffer from substance use disorder in alcohol use disorder. They take all forms of private insurance. They offer low cost treatment for people who do not have insurance.

Your treatment will begin with a medical and psychiatric assessment. This will determine the level of care you need and the treatment method that will work best for you.

If you need full-time care then they can refer you to one of their nearby residential centers. If outpatient care will provide the level of treatment you need then you will receive care at this facility. You will have an active role in creating a treatment program that will work for you.

All clients will be treated with a combination of group and individual therapy. They use several different treatment methods here. The most common is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) which teaches people to think in a more positive and realistic way in order to change hurtful behaviors.

People who suffer from mental health issues may be treated with dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). This type of therapy provides coping mechanisms for dealing with stressful situations. In some cases, a therapist may use motivational interviewing (MI) to treat you. This is a type of therapy in which the therapist remains neutral and asks you questions to help you find your own motivation to change.

They have several different types of group sessions you can join. They have family therapy weeks, in which families of clients can participate in group therapy sessions. Having a therapist present can be helpful in getting your family members to talk about the way your substance use affects their lives.

I feel like the addiction counselors have not helped our family they only tore us appart and they actually offered my boyfriend to move in with a female, they haven t provided support for me as someone living with a person with addiction and how to guide me through this and support for us as a family has not been there and left me high and dry. Very disappointed. Multiple times I ve reached out for help and let them know what s going on they give the addict Pat on the back and sorry this is going on without taking accountability for any actions or consequences

These providers have no idea what they are doing. You really have to advocate for your own care. Given it s a mental health clinic HUGE red flags. Do not waste your money here. Try a different brand reliable clinic with reputable providers.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs provide robust, wraparound care for clients who have completed detox and/or intensive inpatient rehab. Their services may vary widely, but typically include peer coaching, relapse prevention support, 12 step program induction, career counseling, and related community reintegration services. The client's case manager and recovery team coordinates with the client to identify the rehab aftercare services they need to promote their sustained sobriety.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug addiction is defined as an inability to stop using drugs even though it causes negative consequences in your life. Drug rehab in Minnesota provides treatment for drug addiction in a variety of settings including inpatient treatment and outpatient treatment.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Therapists often use cognitive behavioral therapy in Minnesota to treat substance use disorders because it can help clients quickly identify challenges and ways to cope with them. Its structured, specific methods require fewer sessions than other types of therapy.

Dialectical behavior therapy focuses on four skills: emotional regulation, mindfulness, acceptance and distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. Treatment involves individual sessions, as well as group sessions where you can start applying the skills you learn.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Qualified therapists in Minnesota offer individual therapy to men and women so they can receive customized care tailored to their needs. Your therapist works to understand your unique circumstances and provide you with targeted interventions and coping skills essential for long term recovery.

Couples therapy in Minnesota can help you understand yourself and your partner better and identify the issues causing stress in the relationship. From finances to addiction to children, you'll learn skills to deal with various stressors and strengthen your relationship.

Families in Minnesota use family therapy to understand the roles they play in addiction. Each member plays a role and contributes to a pattern of behavior. Families learn to interact in healthier ways that support each other and contribute to their loved one's journey to recovery.

The service is awful, the therapists do not understand the concept that they are in charge of listening and advising me in situations; it is not for me to judge.

Disappointed. We come from a split household with multiple kids looking for help with our child who has learning disabilities. They require each adult to have their own therapist instead of doing it by household (so parents cannot have same therapist, which means more money for Nystrom as they make each person have their own therapist). They don't seem to accommodate around a family schedule - we tried virtual therapy at first but then they insisted on having it in-person. Well the only in-person times available that they gave are during school hours - which stressed our child out to be gone several hourrs from school, in which they already have learning disabilities and navigating a new school. Also that it takes almost an hour 1 way to get to the office. Didn't feel like the therapist Anne was very accommodating in she did not provide any alternatives (such as flexible after-hour in person visits or looking into her schedule to try to work us in) and just didn't feel she was working with our schedules to accommodate, did not even bring up looking into another therapist who had openings that would be able to fit us in to after-school hours. There's other kids at home and the group therapy for 2 hrs on top of weekly therapy sessions that they were requiring us to go in-person would mean leaving other kids home alone, which is not appropriate, and they made us feel as if we weren't putting our child's mental therapy as a priority since we couldn't agree to in-person visits during school. We did not feel supported at all in this and am frustrated as we waited 6 months on the waiting list and had already done about 5 sessions where hardly anything was done (a lot of the first several sessions was just intake which I feel should have only been 1 session to complete) and now we are kicked out and have to find another program to help my child, have to get on another waiting list and possibly not even start until summer or later. I was recommended Nystrom by a friend but I am shocked and disappointed at how cold and unsupportive they seem in lack of ability to help complex family dynamics with schedule conflicts.

If you want to ruin your family send your kids there. My Son needed help and somewhere along the line he hasn't spoken to my wife in over a year. Nope wasn't in a broken home, nope no drugs or alcohol, nope no verbal or physical abuse. Whatever she did she (therapist) sent him away in an ambulance minutes after he and i ate lunch and laughfed our asses off. Worst year of our life, I will always love my son and his reasons are his. Cant wait to hold him again.
