About Oxford House

Oxford House is a network of transitional living homes for adults recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. They have a location in uptown Great Island, Nebraska. Oxford House is unique among transitional living programs in that each house is democratically operated by residents rather than supervisors or managers.

At this suburban sober living home, the cost of residence isn’t covered by insurance. Instead, each resident contributes to the expenses of living in and maintaining the home. Additionally, your time in the program isn’t limited to a set number of days, weeks, or months. As long as you financially contribute and abide by house rules, you can stay for as long as you feel the need to.

True Community Living

Two key components to recovery are socialization and independent living. The Oxford House model brings these things together through its community structure. As stated above, each resident of the house contributes financially. They also divide up daily responsibilities to ensure that everything that needs to get done is addressed and that each member is putting in the same effort.

This model allows you to practice daily living skills, balance responsibilities, and practice healthy interactions with others. It’s a unique way to cultivate a sense of self worth while boosting practical skills. If you have outdoor excursions, Lions Park and Pier Lake aren’t too far away.

All Backgrounds Welcome

People come to Oxford House from many different walks of life and find success in sober living thanks to the Oxford House model. From the justice involved to those with extensive histories of substance use, everyone is welcome so long as they remain sober during their stay.

Houses Supporting Houses

Individual Oxford Houses come together to form local chapters. These chapters are pivotal in growing your sober support network. Members of chapters come together to support one another as they walk the path of recovery together.

Chapters also host events for members. These activities are geared toward fun, education, and relationship building. It’s through chapters that individual houses avoid isolation, and each resident can continue to grow.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During drug rehab in Nebraska, you'll participate in therapies that address the many issues that contribute to addiction. Treatment includes physical, mental, emotional, and relational aspects. These methods provide the tools you need to achieve long-term recovery.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

AI Rehab House is where rock bottom turns into real change. You roll up feelin’ drained, maybe doubting if anything can help — and they prove you wrong in the best way. The crew here knows how to handle detox like clockwork, keepin’ you stable, safe, and as comfortable as it gets when your body’s goin’ through it. No judgment, no lectures — just straight-up care. What makes this place hit different? It’s the attention to you. They’re not pushing some cookie-cutter program — they actually tailor the whole process to what you need. Therapy sessions get raw, but they guide you through without making it weird. It’s real healing, with real people, in a place that finally feels like a fresh start. AI Rehab House isn’t just treatment — it’s the first time in a while you feel like you’re finally back in control.

AI Rehab House keeps things simple and real. From the first day, they made me feel like I didn’t have to pretend to be okay—they just wanted to help. Detox was handled with care, and they explained everything without the medical jargon. It felt more like a team effort than a program being forced on me.What stood out the most was how much they genuinely cared. They didn’t just push a routine—they listened, adjusted, and stayed patient through every up and down. If you're ready to get your life back on track with people who actually get it, this place is a solid choice.

For the women's Oxford House on West State Street in Grand Island gets one star review from me. I learned a lot of things like how to figure out who's working a real program and who's not and I definitely learned how to tell sick people from healthy people and learned how to distinguish between them to better myself. Learned how to set healthy boundaries even when others tried to cross my boundaries and not give in. I learned how to focus on myself instead of letting other people affect me and my recovery. I also learned but not everybody can be saved if they don't want to be saved. Now as for the men's broadwell house they deserve a five-star from me. The men's broadwell House Oxford House rocks recovery.
