It is a rescue mission, with overnighter's and a program for those who are called to go the "extra step" in discipleship-training. Jobs are encouraged from Day 1 -- or, at least, the search for a job.While I attended, the counselors taught from the Bible truths and examples centered upon Christ Jesus. Some of the counselor's are former addicts with good testimonies -- testimonies full of hope and promise, based upon the word of God.The place, itself, was clean and well-ordered, not demanding nor demeaning (in my opinion). Chores were expected to be completed by the clients after supper, such as sweeping and mopping.During my overnight stay, I met a few souls who were seeking answers in a world they hardly understand, looking for a way out of the miry clay they have discovered upon their feet, holding them down to a world they wish were past, not present -- Spiritually, based upon Christ and God's word, it is designed to be a refuge from the storm of life, a place of shelter. Individuals are welcome....families, too.One of the central passages taught at the nighttime (730) devotion was from 13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide [is] the gate, and broad [is] the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. My husband went through the independence center over 30 years ago. He did relapse after the first 3 months but he did not attend any aftercare or AA. Within a year he started going to AA and has been sober for almost 35 years. My son has also been through the independence center twice with varied success. He has had relapses but maintained sobriety for the majority of the time. He has used the tools he learned there to get sober again after relapsing without having to reenter treatment. The program will work for you if your honest with yourself and do the work. Good luck and god bless!

Of course it s up to me how honest I want to be with my counselor, Chaplin and myself (and God), but their unwavering encouragement doesn t hurt and it didn t. The facility is much better than others I ve been to in Nebraska and they keep the distracting extracurricular horseplay to minimum. They have a great culture and alumni in the A.A. and Lincoln communities.

Absolute paradise compared to places I've been. I was so afraid to stay and commit, but after 7 days I didn't want to leave. I will definitely pay it forward to this organization, you get in to it if you're willing to do basic things. The groups are therapudic and optional, you're fed well, you can have leisure and gosh, I am so thankful for the support. Go to the groups, be open, be you and you will be loved. No matter how far down the scale you're falling, this is a team of individuals who will help you out of that hole. Do your part and ask for help, be honest, and it scratches the surface of greater things. If you're a smoker you can have gum, I would trade a thousand days without a cigarette, which I thought I couldn't do, to receive this kind of care. You have to want it, all they want is to see you get better. These people are genuine angels.

Beautiful renovated building literally under a bridge. I go here for Sunday morning Hope and wake up Sunday early to be there at 9am. I would suggest getting there 15 before the meeting to get a seat as they fill up fast and see all the friendly faces and drink the rocketfuel for coffee.

I checked myself into touchstone in 2017 I was so nervous but they all welcomed me with open arm's they were all so nice. They other people were younger than me and I was okay with that we all got a long and helped each other. Went to ER and they were slammed. I mean slammed with people. The security guard went to another room to get several more chairs for people. It was late at night in the middle of the week. Did I have a long wait, ya but I wasn t dying just pulled a hamstring and needed to make sure I didn t break my leg at the same time. Other people who got there were not as fortunate. Staff still did their best and I did get to see a nurse in the triage multiple times and they worked to get my stuff done. Longest wait was for the final checkup from the doctor. They gave me a shot for pain quickly and got my X-ray taken care of. I was up and walking before I left so that was good.

I feel like i should definitely write a post, I hope more alumni will do the same. For me the experience i had at the bridge was amazing. It's not easy living with that many women! However when it comes to the staff i believe they really do care about the people that come in. I read some of the other reviews and was shocked to see that they had that kind of experience. I don't know their situation so i won't comment on that.When I went to the bridge i was ready to change and although i might have had a few setbacks i really felt supported and cared about while i was there. It's not going to be easy it's a treatment facility there's going to be some bumps in the road.

I had tried to get sober before and had just got out of prison. I promised myself I was going to stay clean and live a good life. Within 6 months of leaving prison the thoughts of using were strong. I started drinking and looking for ways to get drugs. I knew I needed help or I was going to go down the same path I promised never to go down again. When I called the Bridge there was not any beds available at the time, I told them my situation and told them I really needed to get help or I am not sure I would be brave enough to make this phone call again. They allowed me to sleep in a counseling room temporarily until a bed opened. It is not easy living with a bunch of women and being told what to do, but if you are looking for people who really care and what you to succeed then the Bridge is an excelent choice. For any body who gives the Bridge a bad review.....I am not sure what you did, but you were probably in the wrong trying to get away with something you shouldn't have been.

I checked myself into touchstone in 2017 I was so nervous but they all welcomed me with open arm's they were all so nice. They other people were younger than me and I was okay with that we all got a long and helped each other. Amy was my counselor and she helped me so much I'm forever greatful for all her help with the death of my father. I'm still in contact with a few of the people and staff members on social media. I'm still sober will be 5 years next march 2022

I had a great experience and a not so great one but the not so great was only because I was in the wrong I was keeping secrets I lied to staff to protect another girl don't keep secrets do the right thing always and you'll succeed idk about the newer staff but the ones who have been there awhile and the ones who have moved on are all amazing women who would do anything for you if you just let them in. I feel like i should definitely write a post, I hope more alumni will do the same. For me the experience i had at the bridge was amazing. It's not easy living with that many women! However when it comes to the staff i believe they really do care about the people that come in. I read some of the other reviews and was shocked to see that they had that kind of experience. I don't know their situation so i won't comment on that.When I went to the bridge i was ready to change and although i might have had a few setbacks i really felt supported and cared about while i was there. It's not going to be easy it's a treatment facility there's going to be some bumps in the road.

This is a wonderful drug and alcohol treatment center for women and children. The bridge has been around for a long time in Hastings and has been located in several areas currently they are housed in a older building that I believe used to be a nursing home. It needs a lot of updates and TLC that because the bridge is funding doesn't allow it it stands as is. The bridge has been a great success rate and wonderful caring staff during and after care.
