I went there 8-18-2011. Saved my life. They showed me compassion when I had no compassion for anyone or anything. They gave me tough love. That's what I needed or I never would have gotten sober. In August I will have 12 years sober. They gave me hope. Thank you. Update 9-2-2024
13 years sober this year. Whoop whoop. Life is good. Thank you guys so much.
14 years today. Thank you folks for being their when I was at my lowest. Updated 8-19-2025. I entered on the 18th with a holier than thou attitude, and with an attitude like that I was doomed. I had to trust the Staff to take care of me because I was no longer capable of doing it alone, and come to find out I didn't have to live like that anymore if I didn;t want to and I didn't to do it alone. Thank you.

Hastings, Nebraska | Since 1977, The Bridge has cared for women over the age of 19 struggling with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Kitchen is locked at random times throughout the day closing water source. Hundreds of bugs within facility flying around; mostly gnats, flies, and mosquitos easily visible. Two thirds of all cardio equipment is broken. Food is over made leaving too much portions in the leftover fridge which are thrown out consistently. Fresh fruit is left untouched with average 7-10 portions per resident due to insect issue. Groups are treated as a shut down time meaning full credit is given without discussion or meaning. Smoke break staff treats our designated times as an optional part of the day meaning they are in the office having conflict of interest conversation with often refusal of due diligence when reminded of such. Lack of showering in diseased bathrooms that need renovation are a disciplinary action excluding you from activities. Checkups are every 30 minutes whereas if you are in your room with the door closed there is no warning of staff and many fling the door open as to re-enact a drug bust.

I had tried to get sober before and had just got out of prison. I promised myself I was going to stay clean and live a good life. Within 6 months of leaving prison the thoughts of using were strong. I started drinking and looking for ways to get drugs. I knew I needed help or I was going to go down the same path I promised never to go down again. When I called the Bridge there was not any beds available at the time, I told them my situation and told them I really needed to get help or I am not sure I would be brave enough to make this phone call again. They allowed me to sleep in a counseling room temporarily until a bed opened. It is not easy living with a bunch of women and being told what to do, but if you are looking for people who really care and what you to succeed then the Bridge is an excelent choice. For any body who gives the Bridge a bad review.....I am not sure what you did, but you were probably in the wrong trying to get away with something you shouldn't have been.
