My husband went through the independence center over 30 years ago. He did relapse after the first 3 months but he did not attend any aftercare or AA. Within a year he started going to AA and has been sober for almost 35 years. My son has also been through the independence center twice with varied success. He has had relapses but maintained sobriety for the majority of the time. He has used the tools he learned there to get sober again after relapsing without having to reenter treatment. The program will work for you if your honest with yourself and do the work. Good luck and god bless!

When you are ready, you are ready. I did three rehabs in the span of three summers and I’ve been sober a year and a half since going to the Independence Center. The ENTIRE staff wass genuinely interested in my recovery. Of course it’s up to me how honest I want to be with my counselor, Chaplin and myself (and God), but their unwavering encouragement doesn’t hurt and it didn’t. The facility is much better than others I’ve been to in Nebraska and they keep the distracting extracurricular horseplay to minimum. They have a great culture and alumni in the A.A. and Lincoln communities.

Dr Brank took the time to truly listen to me without hurrying me! He wanted to address all my fears and concerns and then began immediately attempting to solve what he could!! He expressed the importance of me which was greatly needed and appreciated! The nurses do everything thing they can or find someone to help you! They know my name at sight and my voice when I call making me feel like family around here!! I am onery and may play jokes with them and they expect it and laugh and smile with me! I would go NOWHERE else and I'd beg and clean toilets (which are clean) but ANYTHING to stay because they're worth EVERY DOLLAR!!!!! I PROMISE!!!!! ❤️ I would DEFINITELY recommend them to EVERYONE!!!!! A+++++

I was recently hospitalized for a relatively minor medical condition. The company I work for has an arduous process for returning to work after being laid off for medical reasons. I desperately needed to be seen on short notice so that I could return to work. The staff at the Lincoln V.A. worked with me diligently. My primary care physician, Sasha Grantski, went above and beyond her normal duties to "squeeze" me in for an appointment. Thanks to her and the Lincoln V.A. staff, I am back to work. I am extremely grateful.

Sarah (my therapist) and Dr. Bohart (my psychiatrist), as well as the entire staff at Blue Valley do a fantastic job of creating a collaborative and cohesive treatment plan. I began seeing them both years ago, I believe in 2021, and even after stepping away from therapy for a while - the Blue Valley team was always welcoming as I continued my medication management with Dr. Bohart. And about a year ago when I returned to therapy after everything started feeling heavy and overwhelming again, Sarah was understanding of the non-linear healing process. Thanks to her authentic and honest approach to our sessions, it took no time for me to feel comfortable exploring even deeper aspects of my trauma than we had touched on the first time. My therapy sessions feel right for what I expect and need in order to grow - for me this looks like a safe, warm and friendly environment that allows for a bit of humor, time to process, in depth discussions, open thought exploration and evaluation of thought processes, as well as where the frameworks and triggers stem from. Sarah's style is reassuring but also pushes me to see things from a new perspective. I have never left a session feeling unheard, and feel I play an active role in shaping my therapy sessions too (ex. I will sometimes have a singular focus I want to work on in a session, and if I'm ready to do the work - Sarah is always ready to support it). She readily provides me with additional resources and research so I can form my own opinions and shares techniques to try in session and at home. I would recommend her to anyone, but particularly those who want to play a more active role in therapy. Sarah is always genuinely rooting for me to succeed, has always been professional in our sessions, but more importantly, it's quite clear how much she cares about helping and improving the lives of her patients. The same can be said of Dr. Bohart, who listens to my endless questions when it comes to my medications and potential side effects or interactions. While I was pregnant and into post-partum, Bohart took excellent care of me. She made sure we were cautious in selecting medication that was safe during pregnancy and the right fit to best support and manage my condition with thoughtful dosages. Bohart is always open to exploring new solutions when possible - I had a reaction after prolonged use of one medication and Dr. Bohart's team took my concern seriously and helped me pivot to a new medication plan as quickly and safely. Bohart has watched me and my family grow over the last 5 years or more and always asks me about my daughter and how things are going. She will investigate any concern or question or new medication option thoroughly and often on the spot so I get answers immediately and feel confident leaving the session. The office staff have always been so kind to me, even when mental health gets the best of me or life gets in the way and are quick to help me reschedule or arrange my sessions in a way that makes the most sense for my schedule. They know me by name and are genuinely happy to celebrate wins, milestones and help me to get the resources I need. Blue Valley has always made me feel that progress is possible, that I can show up as I am and will be met with understanding, and that there is no shame in seeking help – even if you aren't always sure exactly what that looks like for you.

I’ve been going to Madonna every time I have a surgery/injury for more than 13 years. In my time there, I’ve done pretty everything (PT/OT/Vision Therapy/Speech/Water Therapy/RDP and school). I have been very fortunate that with very few exceptions I have also been able to work with the SAME therapists and therapy assistants since I began. That not only says a lot about what kind of place Madonna must be like to work for, but is also very helpful for the people they serve because continuity of care is so important. The front desk schedulers do a great job of getting all of your required therapies in while still respecting the other obligations on your calendar and time preferences. As someone who is constantly at other medical appointments, I cannot tell you how valuable it is to have them work with you and also be flexible when needing to reschedule as things come up. The facility is great, especially since the remodel of the building, and all of the staff are super nice. I also like that everyone knows who you are & that they truly care about you and your progress. I live less than a mile away from a different physical therapy facility and refuse to go there because Madonna set a high standard and I have not found anywhere else remotely near meeting that. Because of that, I will never go anywhere else.

I cannot say enough amazing things about Dr. Teresa Lewis-Hunt, DNP, APRN, FNP-C. She has been my family’s provider for over 6 years, and the level of care, compassion, professionalism, and genuine concern she shows is truly unmatched. In a world where healthcare can often feel rushed and impersonal, Dr. Lewis-Hunt stands out as someone who truly listens, cares deeply, and treats every patient with dignity and respect. What makes her exceptional is not just her clinical knowledge and expertise, but the way she makes you feel seen, heard, and valued. She takes the time to explain things thoroughly, never makes you feel like “just another patient,” and always ensures my family feels comfortable and cared for. Her compassion is genuine, and her dedication to her patients goes far beyond what you normally experience in healthcare. I trust Dr. Lewis-Hunt completely with my family’s health and wellbeing. That kind of trust is rare, and she has earned it through years of consistency, excellence, and heartfelt care. She has set the standard so high that I honestly will follow her wherever she goes. CenterPointe is incredibly fortunate to have a provider like her, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a provider who truly leads with both knowledge and heart. I am the child of two parents who met at an AA meeting over thirty years ago. My mom and dad split when I was little because my dad was unable to defeat his demons. When I was 9 he overdosed for the final time on heroin. The last time I saw him was in prison. I’ve spent most of my twenties filling that emptiness with different substances such as alcohol, weed, painkillers, adderall, and most recently kratom. My substance abuse was destroying my relationship with my family. I’ve always reached to something hoping to numb the pain of my reality, but currently I’m reaching for a different sort of healing. I’ve been blessed to have been put into Jason’s group. I am attending meetings three days a week and still struggle in my day to day, but I have learned that it’s okay not to always feel okay. Becoming sober has been one of the hardest things I have ever done, but the positives far outweigh the negatives. My performance at work has improved, my friendships are getting better, and I am learning to love myself. My biggest motivation to get healthy is my beautiful family. They deserve a father they can be proud of and I will continue with the program until I know I can trust myself to continue on my own. Everyday presents its own challenges, but it is good knowing that there are people like Jason who care about what happens to me. He challenges the way I think and is one of the main reasons I decided to stick it out with the program. He is truly someone who practices what he preaches, and there is a part of me that doesn’t want to let him down. If you have fallen victim to addiction, I promise that if you give valley hope a chance and buy into the program that you will start to like the person you see in the mirror again. I’ve hated myself for most of my life and have attempted suicide multiple times. For the first time in a long time I feel as though i can see a light at the end of the tunnel. For so long it was only darkness. I always wore a mask in public that was hiding the pain I felt in my heart. I am thankful my wife pushed me towards this program and I really want to continue towards being able to control my life and my impulses. My children deserve to have the father that I was never afforded. I don’t trust many people, but Jason has earned my respect and is ultimately why I decided to continue. I believe with his guidance and the program that valley hope provides that I will be able to stay on the path towards a better and fulfilling life. I’m not perfect and it’s possible I will make mistakes along the road to sobriety, but I do know that I will never let substances control my life again. I truly believe that. It’s okay to ask for help sometimes. Find your reason and realize that we have but one life in this beautiful world. Don’t continue to let those precious moments be stolen by a substance. Happiness comes from within, not from a bottle. If your reading this, know that there is always time to change the path. It isn’t an easy way to travel, but I have to believe that it is worth it. I’m gonna keep working towards long term sobriety for the sake of my family but also for the sake of my soul. Thank you Valley Hope

I haven't personally been a patient here, but I have had several friends complete the inpatient program for substance abuse, and they all seemed to like it. I know you can still smoke cigarettes, but no cell phones the first few weeks and limited if any contact at all with the outside world. It's coed, so that probably helps people when making a decision for an inpatient facility. Especially when we're talking 30+ days or more, detoxing off any and all things good, lol! The entrance to check in is tricky to find too, it's actually on the back side, or really, it might even be the side of the building under an awning. Hit the buzzer, and someone comes to help you get checked in.

I’ve been a patient here since 2016. My life is completely different and will continue to be thanks to the offering of medication assisted sobriety. The number one priority is you communicate with your counselor and the Doctor. Once you reach the dose your body needs the real changes begin. No more will you have to just get through the day because you’re sick or spend your entire paycheck to try and get enough to get through another week. The staff is made up of angels. Everyone is there to help us get better and live better. If you’re sick of being sick give the program a try. They only requirements are the desire for a better life and to stop abusing.
