About Associates in Counseling and Treatment

Associates in Counseling & Treatment (ACT) helps you tackle mental health and substance use challenges that may be holding you back from living the life you want. You can overcome compulsive gambling habits as well. They offer domestic violence interventions and court-ordered services, including 8-15 hours of education classes for DUI offenders. The facility serves adults, adolescents, and families in Lincoln, Nebraska.

They’re located near the Gateway Mall and north of Holmes Lake Park with easy access to nearby Waverly and Hickman. ACT accepts Medicaid, several major health insurance coverages, and private pay to ensure broader access. Low-income funding is also available to help offset some service costs for residents of Southeast Nebraska. I like that they support virtual and in-person appointments and evaluations.

Supporting Healing and Personal Growth

ACT fosters personal growth so you heal from the inside out. Following your intake evaluation, they’ll help you find the right recovery pathways, whether that’s general or more intensive outpatient (IOP) care. These programs offer high flexibility with weekends, evenings, and daytime availability.

This makes it easy to maintain your job and other daily responsibilities as you access care. They offer therapy groups and individual sessions to help you build resilience, rediscover hope for a better life and feel supported every step of the way.

The beauty of it is that these sessions can also tackle co-occurring gambling and mental health challenges through an integrated approach to healing. These programs emphasize family involvement and include family counseling to rebuild trust, strengthen connections, and create a solid support system for lasting recovery.

You’ll really gain the support you need to work through personal challenges, build healthy coping strategies, and develop problem-solving skills.

They pretend to care about you but they are actually using you for your Money and Numbers.I went for MONTHS for Outpatient (I was supposed to only have to do 8weeks) I was told I was done with my Outpatient which was needed for my probation order and my therapist Angie asked me if I WANTED to be done or still would like to speak with her. She told me multiple times each session that I was there still by CHOICE and it had nothing to do with my probation order anymore ...... I continued to see Angie for what I thought was my own choice just to have a therapist to speak to and care..Little did I know she actually didn't care and was using me. She lied to me and supposedly once I chose not to come finally she then used it as a threat and said I hadn't finished and just "stopped coming". WHAT ?! If it was my choice to still be there and my probation portion of things was finished why would that be used against me or reported to my PO as Discharged ? I asked if I could still come in and get it figured out and I ended up going back. Nothing happened when I went back as far as closing my case or anything. We scheduled for Sundays. That was the most Psychotic thing to go through. Angie my therapist even supposedly called my PO while I was in a session with her to tell my PO that I had been DONE with my 8weeks outpatient weeks ago.......... Doesn't add up. They refuse to send me Documented Proof that I was done with the Outpatient and was only there by choice for therapy.I also, had been taking my BIP class that was a Probation Ordered Course.I was 25 Weeks in and was doing great.I was at the store because my son wanted to go to there. Otherwise we would have went to another location (store). Just so happens his dad was there who I have been on no contact with for two years (should have been dropped months prior to this situation). It was nearing our son's bday and our son is allowed to see him so , he didn't know anything was up. We played it off because it's inappropriate to include my son in the States Abuse. Our son wanted him to help pick stuff out and pay and we did and went our separate ways. The next morning I woke up to an Email stating that ACT Terminated my BIP Class.I was confused because I had been doing so well , and 5 classes left. I had no idea on my mind that it was that short encounter at the store because that wasn't anything that we chose to do and regardless thought nothing of it because it was just that.Someone from ACT saw that I seen Devin at the store and had reported it as me Violating. It was not a Voluntary Violation. I cannot choose when and where someone else is especially if I'm not speaking to them. I certainly am not going to be rude or act weird about it around my son. My son saw him and was excited.I really wonder who had it in their heart to even think to do something like that. Truly Crazy people. They are not there to help you and will kick you while you're down for sure. If you're sick they will Discharge you as well. I really should have came in there throwing up. Karma could have dealt a few numbers. It should be unlawful for them to had told me Im done with my Outpatient (I have never done drugs and never plan to) and then since I chose to continue to see the therapist they used it against me and my probation ?! If I'm done with the outpatient then I'm done with the outpatient right ?!Ridiculous.(After this review I received a phone call from ACT and am Email THREATENING me). They also sent a copy to my Probation Officer ?! As if it's an illegal action to write a Factual Google Review.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs ensure clients receive a complete continuum of care after completing high-level treatment in a detox center or inpatient rehab. Clients typically partner with their case manager and care team to outline their specific recovery needs and goals. Rehab aftercare services are often highly customized and designed to evolve as clients progress in their recovery. Standard services include outpatient treatment and peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction following outpatient care.
12-step icon12-Step
12 step programs are based on a treatment model combining peer support with personal growth. The 12 steps of recovery deploy spiritual principles to promote participants' psychological and emotional healing, enabling them to identify and address the origins of their addiction, accept responsibility for their life choices, and relinquish control over that which cannot be changed. Religious affiliation is not required, and most meetings are non-denominational, though some formats, such as Celebrate Recovery! are rooted in Biblical principles.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
When loved ones stage a drug intervention in Nebraska, the goal is not to gang up on the individual and make them feel attacked. The aim is to make them feel cared for and to present a solid plan for getting them the treatment they need. This process often includes intervention services. These professionals can provide support for planning and carrying out the intervention and guidance for appropriate treatment for the individual and family members.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During drug rehab in Nebraska, you'll participate in therapies that address the many issues that contribute to addiction. Treatment includes physical, mental, emotional, and relational aspects. These methods provide the tools you need to achieve long-term recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in Nebraska is often the preferred method of treatment for substance use. In just a few sessions, clients can learn how to identify challenges and start to develop healthy coping methods to manage them.

The premise of dialectical behavior therapy is that many problems are due to a lack of skills to properly handle them. This therapy aims to give you the skills to manage your emotions and challenging situations so you can live a healthier, productive life.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Often used to address addiction in Nebraska, motivational interviewing helps you become motivated to change. Research shows this method is effective for clients who are unprepared for change or feel unmotivated to change.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Couples therapy in Nebraska often focuses on one specific matter of concern. It is usually short term, with the goal of addressing the main issue and learning how to manage it. The focus might be addiction, finances, children, or any other challenge that is putting stress on the relationship.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Brought my husband in a month ago or maybe even a little longer for a evaluation and a treatment plan. She told us she would mail her recommendation to us... Okay...2 weeks later still nothing so I call she says she will mail out the next day.... Here we are with still nothing. When we came in he needed help like last week. No wonder we have so many crazies out in the world cause they have to jump through so many hoops for help! Thanks for nothing!

I enjoyed my experience at ACT, Gita was a very understanding person. The group counseling helped a lot and being able to listen to other peoples story's. It helps you see you are not the only one that thinks a certain way. Also other people have ideas that may help you.
