About Southeast Healthcare Services

Southeast Healthcare Services in Saint Clairsville, Ohio, is a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center that has been dedicated to holistic care since 1978. Serving Belmont, Harrison and Monroe counties they provide mental health, substance use, primary care and homeless services for all ages and backgrounds in a welcoming environment. Additional services include crisis intervention, vocational support and programs for criminal justice clients such as batterer’s intervention and stalking victim advocacy.

They are accredited by The Joint Commission and accept Medicaid, Medicare and private insurance. They also offer sliding fee scale payments.

Accessible Treatment

What immediately stood out to me is that the center is open daily and offers telehealth services. Their primary care services are available in the clinic or via a mobile coach. Services include screenings, chronic disease management and dental care. These services are complemented by an in-house pharmacy, Apothecare.

Addressing Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders

Their mental health services include individual and group counseling, psychiatric care and case management for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia to name a few. Their treatment modalities like cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing will be used to address your trauma and emotional needs.

Substance use treatment includes outpatient programs, intensive outpatient care and medication assisted treatment (MAT) with buprenorphine or naltrexone for opioid dependence. These medications help manage your withdrawal symptoms so that you can focus on your recovery.

Addressing Homelessness

Another aspect that stood out to me is that they address homelessness through several supportive programs. These include residential housing (Four Oaks Group Home), mobile psychiatric outreach (PATH Program) and community treatment teams.

Therapists there are awful, and the nurse practitioners make you see a therapist knowing how bad the therapist are there. I get better help at urgent care and that's saying something because urgent care sucks too. My health has gotten worse since I started going there, and a week after leaving the place I started feeling a little better. Health care sucks in the Ohio valley.

Went for an ADHD evaluation and ended up being treated like a drug seeker when I asked for another option when the NP tried prescribing me antidepressants. I was evaluated by another facility in the area, diagnosed with ADHD and given cognitive therapy. Just because someone tells you no to a drug you are pushing does not mean they are a drug addict. That woman's actions are precisely why people get lost to a mental illness. Try listening and not assuming that people are walking in the door for a high. Some of us genuinely want help without being doped up.

Wouldn t give this place a rating an all honestly if I could. Their caseworkers are very ignorant and rude especially one I had in the past before I started going to a different health care place. This place is an absolute joke and I wouldn t be surprised if in the next couple of years they get shut down, they re already starting to lose a lot of clients who have all had similar complaints like mine. You re care team They don t care about you like they say they do and they re not willing to work with you about your concerns and mental wellbeing. They re excellent when it comes to neglecting their clients wants and needs and basically leaving you to fend for yourself. There not compliant, and once again case management is beyond the worst and they have very poor communication skills when it comes to THEM reaching out to THEIR clients. Would give this place a 0/5 stars. I Would strongly recommend Coleman health services if your looking for people who actually care about you and would take you and your health care seriously.

Accepted Insurance

Southeast Healthcare Services works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

I also left this review on the martins ferry page, we've used both offices..the review doesn't even need to be updated, they are both awful. If I could give 0, I would. This place was medicore at best for my eldest son, and now my youngest son has had his appointment rescheduled for the 2nd time. The first time he was bumped back 3 weeks due to lack of therapist, I figured ok..people get sick, call out. It happeneds. Can't control that.. They have known about his appointment for OVER a month and just now, today, 15 mins ago, called me to say my son (who had a 3:30 appointment today) needs to have an intake appointment which was never set up and will now be pushed back even further to see a therapist. This is completely ridiculous and this agency should absolutely be ashamed of itself. Don't have a problem cashing the insurance checks or out of pocket checks..but heaven forbid you actually KNOW what patients needs what. Avoid at all cost, we are pursuing virtual platforms for any parents/patients who are having the same issue we are.

This place is a joke. The employees are rude and incompetent. They don't help anyone and will threaten you with the cops. They will also schedule you appointment after appointment and when u get there say there is no appointment. Sad when someone needs mental health assistance THIS place advertises itself as help when it clearly is not. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

I've been going here for years and it has really gone downhill lately. From taking your therapist away with no notice to withholding necessary medication because they lost the paperwork about your refills. It's like they want you to fail instead of succeed anymore, and it's not like we have much of a choice around here.

This place is a joke, the therapist while friendly are very inexperienced and not very helpful at least the ones that I had interactions with, The nurse line is terrible and horrible at refilling prescriptions I’ve had countless times I’ve had to wait days for a refill....... And I’ve also on several occasions had them Change my appointment time without verifying with me even having an appointment card with one time and then showing up and telling me I missed my appointment they even changed my medicine management doctor on me without notification worst mental health service I’ve ever had in the process of trying to find a new doctor.... place is terrible....
