I was very impressed with Sunset House and Meadows Recovery Center. I recently received treatment at the facility and I can honestly say that the experience was informative and rehabilitative with my struggles with alcohol addiction. The Center provided a safe comprehensive program where I came to know and more fully appreciate the issues I needed to deal with. They also gave me the necessary tools to have a positive recovery and avoid the pitfalls in life that would lead to relapse. I left Sunset House persuaded and encouraged to forge a healthy path for me and my loved ones. I can t say enough about how great the experience was.

I came from the First Responder Shatterproof program to the Sunset House Recovery / Meadows Counseling Center in Palm Beach Gardens. The transition was integrated and in-sync with the care I received from Shatterproof allowing me to capitalize on my journey efforts to recovery.I was really impressed by how much the Sunset / Meadows staff cares for the well-being of the residents. This isn t the big box type of centers where it s easy to get lost in the mix. The staff here took the time necessary to develop a solid relationship with me and my goals of getting back on track to a healthy life. The residential areas and clinical services are great and well-suited for those struggling with addiction. The setting really helped me to become more confident in myself.I have gone through recovery attempts in several treatment centers in my struggle for sobriety and I know what it feels like when you re not a part of your own recovery process. When you are merely going through the motions without realistic assessments or goals.Sunset / Meadows has allowed me to be a part of my process in a healing manner that is well-rounded and thorough. I would 100% recommend this treatment center for continued care of those who are struggling to find a proper program.

Accepted Insurance

Sunset House Recovery Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Rational Behavior Therapy (RBT) is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy meant to be short-term and comprehensive. It was intended to help clients become more self-sufficent and move forward without the need for expensive, ongoing therapy. It includes an emotional self-help method called “rational self-counseling,” the purpose of which is to give clients all the skills needed to handle future emotional issues by themselves, or with significantly less professional help.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I cannot say enough positive things about Sunset House. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and supported by both the staff and residents. The environment is structured yet compassionate, which was exactly what I needed to rebuild my life. The staff genuinely care about each individual’s recovery journey, providing guidance, accountability, and encouragement every step of the way. The facilities are clean, comfortable, and designed to foster a sense of community and growth. The house rules and expectations are fair, ensuring that everyone has a safe and sober environment to focus on their goals. One of the aspects I appreciated most was the emphasis on personal responsibility and building life skills, from maintaining a routine to pursuing employment or education. The group meetings and peer support created a sense of camaraderie and understanding that made me feel less alone in my recovery.

I came into Sunset House with about 5mo of sobriety and looking for the next level of care to transition into normal living again. This place was exactly what I needed, the community was immediately welcoming and the staff was quick and willing to answer any questions or concerns. They have a level system which I found discouraging at first but understood the necessity for it which I quickly adapted to to gain more perks at the place and it also allowed me to help other clients just starting off. The groups were allowed to be influenced by the clients rather then just listening to what the facilitators had for the day. The rooms were nice and cleaned weekly by "US". Sunset helped me to continue my recovery by relearning responsibilities of an adult, establish a support group and encouraged me to continue growing in AA. Thank you so much staff, today I celebrate 1yr of continuous sobriety thanks to y'alls help on my new journey.

I came to Sunset House last April after several social workers said Sunset House was "the best". I didn't know why at the time, but I needed help and went with their recommendations. The staff at Sunset House genuinely care about their clients and want us to not only have a solid path in recovery from our active addictions, but they want us to figure out how we want to live a good life. The techs are dedicated, want to know how we are doing day to day and are quick to provide support. The treatment team is eclectic, bringing strengths through their individual perspectives and focus while bringing a continuity of care. I am very fortunate to be here at Sunset House. As an older male with years of active addiction and hidden trauma, this is the first time I have been given the chance to dig deep, start to heal, be in recovery and to actually believe that I can be happy and create a life worth living.
