I am a patient of Dr. Blake Jones. I had to call him this week and I m not sure if he even received the message. After vomiting every single day for over a week, I called Dr. Jones. I haven t heard back. I woke up this morning to vomit and called Dr. Jones. First, I spoke with Nancy Commacha. She refused to assist me on any level. After she found out she was on speaker and my dual degreed trauma surgeon fianc was able to hear how unprofessional and rude she was. He spoke up and said he would personally be contacting admin over how she handled the call. She transferred me to Noli; nursing supervisor and clown extraordinaire. Noli told me to call the doctor myself on his private number because she would not page a doctor for me. I explained I was told to call. I explained that I would prefer to speak to a gastroenterologist myself and explain what I m experiencing. I believe her inherent laziness, overall lack of competency and complete lack of professionalism is the real reason she didn t call anyone. Her ego and power trip is humorous. She s ego tripping because she s a nurse For the record both women told me they do not have the numbers to the doctors in their own hospital. Further, I was told to contact the doctor on his personal cell. Professionalism 101. Never have the patient directly contact the doctor outside of the office. It was Yoli and Nancy s job to contact Dr. Jones. I will not do their job for them. I will be transferring my care to Advocate Illinois Masonic. I m never treated with anything less than professionalism, kindness and respect for human dignity. These are all qualities that Yoli and Nancy have clearly demonstrated they do not possess. Why does Swedish Hospital have such a horrible reputation? Because of employees just like Nancy and Yoli.I do believe Yoli works in the right department. Who else can manage a department of clowns better than the chief clown herself? I leave Yoli and Nancy to Swedish. They fit in perfectly there. I will be going to Advocate where I will have to establish myself as a new patient. That is infinitely preferable over dealing with a Yoli or Nancy Comanche again. For the record, what kind of a hospital doesn t have the contact information for their own doctors? Nancy and Yoli both said they do not have contact information for the gastroenterologists. That could have devastating consequences for your patients. Seems like malpractice to not have staff capable of calling the doctors within this medical group. At Advocate they are informed and professional. Best bonus of all, they can reach your doctors after hours. At Swedish, they will say they don t have the number. They will advise you to call the doctor on their personal cell phone and circumvent the hospital administration system. That reeks of unprofessionalism and malpractice. My name is Kris Samantha Lane. If Swedish Admin wants to talk to me, they can look me up in their system. Oh! I forgot. They can t look me up. Yoli and Nancy made that clear. I had hoped to continue my care with Dr. Blake Jones. I do not assign any blame to him. However, Yoli and Nancy should have recurrent training or be outright fired.

My husband was admitted through the ER Wednesday night. Since then he has received very limited care. The nurses and the doctor have not seemed to be responsive to his needs or forthcoming with information. The ambulance had tobring us here otherwise we would have gone somewhere else. We will do our very best not to go there again.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Swedish Covenant Hospital offers inpatient psychiatric services for adults age 18 and older in crisis situations. They have a collaborative, multidisciplinary team working in a safe, healing environment. During the treatment, patients have access to psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric nurses, mental health counselors, social workers, occupational therapists, recreational therapists and art therapists to help them recover to join an outpatient program and return to the highest possible level of functioning.
outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from mental health also suffer from chemical dependence. Admitted patients include those who suffer an acute psychiatric disorder or a dual diagnosis of psychiatric and chemical dependence. This condition can be managed on the unit.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Eating disorders include anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and dysfunctional eating patterns. Many psychologists and other mental health professionals consider eating disorders to be food addictions, meaning food is being used in an addictive way (similar to drug or alcohol addiction). Certain substance abuse treatment programs will have treatment for eating disorders as one of the services offered. An eating disorder may also present as a co-occuring disorder or dual diagnosis alongside drug and alcohol addiction.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

I came into the ER at Swedish Hospital after a sudden and scary health issue, and I truly couldn’t have asked for better care. The entire team was kind, efficient, and incredibly respectful. I was in and out in about two hours, but neve felt rushed. Everyone took the time to listen, explain things clearly, and be mindful of my fears, especially around procedures I was anxious about. Special thanks to Helena S, RN, Austin G, RN, Dr. Brandon Byers, Dr. James Vasilakis, DO, and Dr. Monica Ankola, DO for their professionalism, compassion, and thoughtful care. I felt safe, heard, and well cared for every step of the way. Thank you all for making a frightening experience feel manageable and human.

Hello Sam, We are sorry you had to wait. Unfortunately, due to the walk-in nature of the Emergency Room, volumes can fluctuate and we do our very best to provide high quality, efficient care to as many patients as possible. I have shared this feedback with our Emergency Department as we take all feedback seriously. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact our Patient Experience Team directly at healthdesk@eehealth.org.

I set up care with anew cardiologist and for no reason changed me to someone else. I've left three messages in the portal and nobody bothers to get back to you. Obviously my cardiovascular issues are none of their importance. I'm very disappointed to establish care with one doctor and have them remove my appointment and change it to somebody else without even talking to me.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:

I visited this hospital for a flu shot in December. During my appointment, the doctor reviewed my medical history and recommended additional tests as a precaution, assuring me that these would be covered by my insurance. The test results indicated that no further action was needed. However, several months later, I received a bill for over $3,000, as my insurance did not cover the tests. This unexpected expense is a significant financial burden for me. I feel that I was encouraged to undergo unnecessary testing without a clear explanation of potential costs, and I am currently seeking options to resolve this issue.

I am writing to share a concerning experience I had with the hospital's emergency room about a month ago, and I feel it is important to share this with you. My husband became ill, and I initially took him to urgent care. Due to abnormal test results, they advised us to go to the emergency room. What followed was a deeply troubling experience. We waited for nine hours before he was seen by a doctor. After blood work was done, we were told that everything was normal, and he would be discharged with pain medication. I was not convinced by this diagnosis, especially since the urgent care had suggested a CT scan. I requested one, but the doctor stated it was unnecessary given the "normal" blood work. I insisted, and after a lengthy discussion, the doctor finally ordered a CT scan. An hour later, he returned to inform us that the scan revealed a serious issue requiring immediate treatment, confirming my concerns. Within hours, my husband was being attended to by the surgery team. I am incredibly grateful that I pushed for the CT scan, as it undoubtedly saved my husband's life. Based on this experience, I strongly advise you to avoid this particular hospital if possible. The long wait times, the initial misdiagnosis, and the reluctance to pursue further testing were deeply concerning.

Had foot surgery, discharged me the same day and fell. After few days had swelling and returned to the doctor, area did not look sanitary with a broom in the room and some other things that you don’t typically see in a setting like this. After the visit had another surgery to take sutures off due to complications and after discharging me, I developed a bacterial infection most likely due to unsanitary instruments/had to go to the ER.. would not recommend to go there to get surgery.

If I give this hospital one star is just because there’s no less than one to rate them. Even though, it doesn’t deserve them to get one star. The point that led me to say this is my concern to all patients and visitors. As I faced many challenges and traumas. Someone could learn something and expect something from this hospital. First, the hospital treated badly for patients with inmorality . my wife were pregnant of 38 weeks, I called my insurance via phone, to set up everything that to go direct to the hospital, and getting to the delivery room with my wife to get birth. However, when we arrived to the reception an old woman asked us “which hospital are we belongs to,” my response was from Erie. Then, she told me to go back to the clinic where we came from, and immediately I refused her Guidance. I pass through the elevator, asking co- workers who ever wearing uniforms, and started Questioning them about the delivery room. No one can directed me the exact room, again I went through the hall to ask the young lady that direct people who’s she asks the pass card for visitors, and again she can’t guide me properly. Overall all this, my wife was in very painful situation almost to fail on the ground floor while I am standing and asking people for help. But, we couldn’t get one person who had compassionate that could save my wife’s pain. After all, this painful experience one young lady she came up running from far of the hallway, and she assisted us to get in the third room. Finally, we got the room and my wife entered into the room to get healing. The second is in the hospital there are people absent of morality. My wife getting in the delivery room, and informed her to go back home because her uterus opened one inch only. Therefore, we left home, but she still had the pain not only worsened but exacerbated. Again, I called to the insurance to go back to the hospital, and helped me to set up the appointment. This was around 11:13 pm. We went to the hospital and they told us that the hospital is closed after hours. Imagine, the insurance doesn’t even inform us to get to the emergency room, while as we are not experienced before. Anyway, we asked someone that can guide me the Emergency where it locates. Later, the weirdest reception team I have ever talked, they kept asking my wife while she screaming due to her pain. Finally, we get in to the delivery room, and the nurse satfs began to help my wife to get better. Over all, thanks all the nurses that made hard working and succeeded to my wife to get healthy birth. The third ridiculous thing is the injustice treatment of visitors. As my wife got birth, in the next day I brought my old son about four years old to see his mom, and to stay with us. Because no one can hold our son. The only I am a guardian and take care of family. They refused joining my kid with us. After all this, I called my friend’s wife to take care my son, and suddenly she was off from her work and accepted the demand. The next day, I have to taken my kid because she is working overnight, and I picked up my son, and started to beg the receptions and nurses. The biggest challenges I have faced is that they refused to accept my kid at the same time my wife needs help to translate to her, and she needs me for basic things. However, they totally refused resolve my problem. Despite all, I enforced to leave my wife and I took my kid to my home deciding to sleep at home while my wife at the hospital by herself. In conclusion, the worst experience, insane treatment and I traumatised. Overall, I appreciate the nurses who stand the whole night and their endeavour help. God bless them all.

ER needs to have 2 sections. One for the nonemergent cases staffed with NPs/PAs for cases that people themselves view as emergency, but really could be treated in physician offices. Similar to Emergent care facilities. Could be located in another location where staff can triage, diagnose, treat and discharge rapidly. And devote staff in ER to real emergencies. After reading your reviews it's apparent what is needed. Instead of posting owner on web page (cold) post administrative services. Listen to your patients. I've left emergency dept after multiple hours wait. But not as many times as I left Evanston Hospital ER which needs same thing. Now you can't get pillows at either with excuse paramedics steal them. Let fire depts and ambulances buy them if this is the case. As a nurse I know they need clean sheets, pillows, etc. cost of doing business. What do they do? Throw them all out? Communicate. All your hospitals need an emergent area and a real emergency room. Problem can be solved easily. But appears common sense has left your facilities. Staff from physicians down to housekeeping need to treat patients as if they're family, not like your a nuisance. A little bit of caring, empathy and listening can really turn these low numbers around. Staff need to be reminded. Your staff is good but receiving little respect, education and focusing on the good. So many of your physicians are judgemental profit driven hounds. Noh only on ER but pain Management. I was seen by Dr Cilley. Have him talk to them. He's by far best person to do it..
