About Blue Sky Counseling

Blue Sky Counseling offers outpatient opioid use treatment in seven locations across Maine, including this clinic in Waterville. Blue Sky Counseling helps individuals and families navigate recovery, achieve holistic healing, and reclaim their lives through medication assisted treatment (MAT). This technique delivers “whole person” healing by pairing FDA approved meds with counseling.

The clinic is situated in a suburban area close to downtown with easy access for local residents and those from nearby towns from Augusta, Skowhegan and Winslow via US Route 201 and Interstate 95. KVCAP also provides bus service to nearby areas.

This is an outpatient clinic which means that you’ll have ample time to explore the town. If you’re a nature person, you’ll like the Messalonskee Stream Trail and Waterville Riverwalk at Head of Falls. Both are within walking distance of the clinic. The Belgrade Lakes is a bit farther 10 miles west of the clinic. It’s worth checking out as well. The beauty of it is that nature itself offers therapeutic benefits.

A Supportive Opioid Recovery Environment

A major attribute of Blue Sky Counseling is that they fully grasp the challenges people with opioid addiction face when navigating recovery. They know it’s not easy, so they strive to create a safe and welcoming space for recovery. Their team is kind, nonjudgmental, and ready to help you rebuild your life.

On your first visit, you’ll sit with a counselor to assess your needs. They’ll use this information to create a personalized treatment plan just for you. You’ll also meet with a physician who will assess if medication recovery is right for you.

Suboxone, Telehealth, & Thou

Blue Sky Counseling offers a prescription of Suboxone for MAT. When taken, Suboxone helps relieve painful withdrawal, alleviate cravings and normalize your brain aspects of opioid use.

They offer counseling in group and individual settings to help you develop strong coping strategies that foster sobriety. Group therapy particularly builds healthy relationships and strengthens your support network via peer interactions. In a group setting, you can gain new coping strategies by watching how others solve problems and make positive changes.

The beauty of it is you can attend sessions virtually through Zoom thanks to telehealth. You can attend sessions from the comfort of your homes. This is a convenient approach to therapy that saves time and money.

You’ll also benefit from the recovery coaching service. Recovery coaches help set goals, navigate challenges, and build a sustainable plan for lasting sobriety. As you progress in your recovery, they’ll link you to community resources that support complete healing. This may range from supportive housing for those at risk of homelessness to job placements if you’re unemployed. They may help with medical care, educational programs, and transportation aid. It’s a 360-degree approach to care that renews your zeal to live a productive and fulfilling life.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Medical detox is the process of removing addictive substances from your body while under medical supervision. Quitting alcohol and drugs on your own can cause uncomfortable and even dangerous side effects. In a medically supervised detox, licensed medical professionals monitor you 24/7 to help keep you as safe and comfortable as possible. The process is highly individualized to fit your specific needs, but the medical detox generally takes 5-7 days.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Maine is the process of helping someone learn how to live without the use of substances. Professional staff provide treatment to address the various issues of addiction. Methods often involve medication, counseling, and evidence-based therapies.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

This is a great place to go for counseling and help if you're addicted to anything and want to get help with it or even if you feel like you're gonna end up being addicted and don't want to. The counselors are great. Providers are great. Have nothing bad to say about them.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
Thank you so much Bridget! Great message.

This is The Absolute worst place to ever try to get help from I have been going here since April 2018 and can’t believe I dealt with it for this long they do not care AT ALL about anyone’s sobriety all you are to them is another way for them to make more off you they don’t want you to get clean because then they wouldn’t make money and it clearly shows the owners are the worst people I’ve ever met they deserve to be shut down no wonder they could t make it at the methadone clinic won’t say names but you know
