Being honest with yourself & others concerning your addiction is a road to recovery. Everyone can benefit from the services offered by the Addiction Resource Center. The incredible staff, the mutual respect & understanding of others & any necessary medications &/or programs which can be so beneficial to anyone interested in making the decision to become sober make their program an important option to consider. Sweetser is amazing!! I would highly recommend it. In the past I’ve used all that they had to offer. Now I’ve graduated to having just a case worker, Vanessa. She is so great and helps me so much. Then there’s my wonderful Peer counselor, John. He’s just awesome. He helps in so many ways it would take me all day to tell you about it. But take my word, he’s the best. And last but definitely not least, the newest addition to my team, Cheryl. She’s my Psychiatric nurse. Her and her right hand Ashley are fantastic!! They have helped me so much. All of them have. If you’re looking for a place to help you with your mental health no matter what your circumstances are. I’m sure Sweetser can help. And if by some chance they can’t help. They will find someone for you who can. They sincerely care from what I’ve experienced. We could all use a little mental health tweeking if we’re honest and Sweetser is the place to go. I’m still with Sweetser, and their people still go above and beyond. Two people in particular: John Hirth and Vanessa, I apologize I don’t remember last names well or first names for that matter…lol I don’t know what I would do without John. I look forward to his visits all week (he sees me Friday morning). And if I’m struggling and need some emotional support or just someone to talk too. He’ll get to me as soon as he can. And Vanessa’s visit’s, I never want them to end. We have such an easy time talking together. I feel very comfortable with both Vanessa and John and they are both the most empathetic people on the planet!!! My next update will be about the wonderful duo Cheryl and Ashley ت
And just a footnote; if Sweetser is smart, and I know they are. They will hold on to these 4 rare people! Because you rarely (for lack of a better term) find 1 person in one place with these amazing qualities! And Sweetser has John, Vanessa, Cheryl and Ashley! I’d say that they’re pretty blessed. The care and support I receive from Sweetser has been consistently excellent.
I am an adult with autism and other conditions that can make it difficult to function. I have been in and out of mental health facilities across New England and Ontario. Sweetser is by far my favourite team I've worked with.
Sweetser is home to a variety of professionals of different specialties and functions. This allows a very personalized approach for each client's needs, as well as collaboration between departments on how to best support the client. At the current moment, I have four people on my team- Mandy, John, Cheryl and Caroline. Each one plays a very important role in supporting me in reaching my personal goals. I think Dr Daigle is awesome I've had three other neurologist for my MS she has been the one that has helped me the most I have been able to communicate with her the best in the most effective way and she has come up with the best treatment plan that has seem to have at least helped to slow down and almost stop the progression of my disease which was in a rapidly declining pace when I first met her if there was 10 Stars I would give her that

This company,counselors,nurses and doctors are simply amazing. This place saved my life. I have no idea where i would be if I never sought treatment here. I just found out I was pregnant and needed a way out. They not only helped me and saved me but they saved my child as well. Hes 5 now. A healthy smart and active little boy. You can recover. Don't think for ONE SECOND that you're going to help the day you call, you won't. Getting into a state sanctioned program takes time and there are hoops to go through, for a reason. They give you an appointment to come back and they make sure that you have NO open scripts for opiates, paperwork, paperwork, see a doctor, see a nurse, see a counselor, and this is all at 6am. You may be going through withdrawals by the time you dose, around 1pm. YOU WILL NOT GET HELP THE DAY YOU CALL!!!!! Don't think you will. If you need help NOW, go to the hospital or try Kratom. Cap is awesome but you have to put your recovery ahead of the people and the counselors. Not gonna sugar coat this subject at all.

Got my life together here some people just don’t understand life is not a choice and it’s not guaranteed If u get opportunities in life it can be a hit or miss and they offer a lot of benefits that’s most shelters don’t have and half the kids in there don’t want anything good they just want a spoon in there mouth the whole way I for one learned my first month there how people come and go and typically spend 2 years tops if They can’t find someone to stay with here and there. Overall good service food showers clothing towels basic things any human would need.

I’ve been coming to groups for. A few years. They have changed a lot to keep up with the times. They were one of the first in the area. It use to be a lot different years ago. You wanted to get sober it may have taken weeks to get in for your initial appointment Nowadays with everything on the app/online it’s a blessing as you can be using today and be sober tomorrow. You have to do your part. I’m grateful for the program. They will work with you and your schedual. My only gripe is they don’t offer a long term option for people who are stuck on suboxone for pain management. And that the turn over rate for counselors is super high. They will work with you and do anything they can to help you as long as you’re doing your part and even help you with anything else you may need housing finding a dr, anything you just got to ask. - E . I enjoy this VA hospital. I actually enjoy going to my VA appointments at this facility. I'm treated like a king. I usually start with a provided snack and coffee in their roomy sitting area.
I stare out the all glass walls at the Bay across the street.
The location, layout and the huge parking area are all fantastic..
It's a perfect place for my needs.
I like visiting Portland and use my appointments for an excuse to eat out at some great places.

Went to the Salvation Army right after receiving a calling from the Lord to follow Him while incarcerated. God used the Portland ARC to shepherd and led me deeper into my faith. Once a man lost in opiate, meth, and sexual immorality. I never thought I would escape this cyclical pattern of incarceration illegal activity and addiction now redeemed and a Servant Leader (mentor) at a neighboring Ministry. God desires to move in your life, you just need to desire to stop living for your own selfish desires. Matthew 16:25 "For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it." God is the divine creator not a cosmic killjoy, he gave you your innermost desires because he wants to fulfill them, you just need to stop living for them and live for Him. On our own our once good desires become over-desires and we twist the light in them because it becomes "all about me" and there is no love in that. Start living for God and you will be amazed at what he does with your life.
