About BriteLife Recovery

BriteLife Recovery is in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. They have detox services, and they treat substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health issues. They have a men’s residential treatment program at the Hilton Head Island location. The women’s residential treatment house is only a few minutes away in Bluffton. They accept insurance from most of the major providers.

BriteLife is a Joint Commission Accredited facility. They use the CCISC model of care (comprehensive, continuous, integrated). Through this model, they treat both substance use and co-occurring disorders in an integrated and continuous fashion through accessible and welcoming care that includes the family where appropriate. They use small, intimate settings and medical treatments custom-tailored to each person.

They also use a gender-specific curriculum because men and women have widely varying experiences. They use a trauma-informed approach since substance use is often a response to past trauma and its significant effects on emotional, neurological, cognitive, and developmental processes. They also have intervention services if you’re trying to help a loved one acknowledge his/her addiction and get them into treatment.

The detox services are inpatient. Whether you’re addicted to alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, or stimulants, they’ll monitor your detox around the clock. They’ll help you safely detox and then once you’re stabilized, you can begin a residential program. Alcohol detox usually takes between seven and 10 days while opioid detox is about five to seven days, though every individual is different.

The men’s and women’s residential programs offer semi-private rooms. You’ll have access to a pool. You’ll get intensive therapy while in the program. Some of the therapies include one-on-one counseling and group therapy. There’s also cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma-informed therapy. They encourage families to take part in counseling sessions since addiction affects the entire family.

The programs get high praise from former clients. One client mentioned that the facility was clean, there were beautiful views, and the food was great. She also said the therapy made a big difference for her and the program changed her life.

Britelife saved my life. I was an addict for 10plus years and drove myself to Britelife Recovery. Like I said, Britelife and all the staff, Lisa, Lori, Shannon, Naomi, Bri, Caroline, Julia, Quincy, Angela, Carol, Rhonda, and all the nursing staff and all the techs and counselors, they all are AMAZING!!! But most of all, Justin from admissions saved my life!!! Thank you Justin. I would recommend anyone that is looking for help with their addiction to call Britelife Recovery!!! I love all the staff and will not forget my first day of my journey, March 6th 2025!! Thank you Brite Lite Recovery!!!

Accepted Insurance

BriteLife Recovery works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehabs provide flexibility and accommodation for clients who prefer to remain in their homes and workplaces while in recovery. They also facilitate clients' sustained sobriety for clients stepping down from intensive inpatient care. Clients may engage in day, evening, night, or weekend treatment sessions, which typically involve addiction counseling and recovery-focused life skills training. Many outpatient facilities also offer medication assisted treatment (MAT) and evidence-based holistic therapies, such as yoga and massage.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients engaged in a rehab aftercare program are in a more advanced stage of recovery. Many have already completed inpatient detox and/or rehab and have returned to their home, workplace, and community. Rehab aftercare services are designed to support clients' recovery over the long term and typically include a broad portfolio of resources, such as peer coaching and 12 step program induction. Clients may collaborate with their case manager and care team to create their care plan.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in South Carolina is designed to protect those in recovery from health risks of withdrawal. For example, opioid withdrawal can cause vomiting and diarrhea that results in a life-threatening level of dehydration. Withdrawal from benzodiazepines can cause seizures which can be fatal. To avoid these risks, supervised medical detox is recommended. Under this care, medical professionals constantly monitor patients to ensure a safe detox process.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Withdrawing from addictive substances, like alcohol, benzodiazepines (like Xanax), or opioids, occurs during the detox process. Since this process can have uncomfortable and even dangerous side effects, the mission of a medically assisted detox is to provide an expert medical team to help monitor your health around the clock. They will work to keep you as safe and comfortable as possible, administering necessary medications to alleviate any withdrawal symptoms.

Treatments

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Quite possibly the worst experience of my adult life. I have been locked up and would rather go back to lockup than to Britelife. This was my second time as a client and I had nothing but wonderful things to say about it and their staff. Since then, it has undergone some very unfortunate transformations ; From the techs, to the nursing (who constantly got many clients medications wrong, to case management, there is zero communication to be had between those departments in any acceptable time frame. They withheld from me thst I was done with detox for two full days while continuing to give me detox meds. The techs hear you then do nothing to assist. I hope you love salt and seasonings beyond any taste pallette be use that's what you're gonna get with their food. Unbeknownst to me, they were calling my family the entire time as I voiced my concerns about these things, telling them I was looking for any angle to leave. They also told my family that if I left their facility (mind you I had completed detox at this point) that if I left that the next conversation with them would be the last because I'd probably die. They also said I was combative when adamantly diplomatic would have been the wiser wording. Extreme gas lighting and completely unprofessional. Lastly, the programs have geared into more of an AA based program. If that's your thing then great, but it's not for all of us and it's mandatory to attend their AA/NA meetings nightly. The whole program has drastically gone down hill and disappointed is an understatement. I'd strongly consider another option because once you are there they will do everything in their power to keep you there to collect that insurance money. Don't forget thst this is a business. I hope this helps anyone on the fence. Stay away until they get it back together, if they ever do.

I just spent a little over a month here, and I have to say it was definitely one of, if not, the best program I’ve ever been to, and I’ve been to quite a few. The campus is beautiful and many of the staff, therapists, nurses and doctors went the extra mile to make my stay here extremely positive and to make me feel like I was truly In Good hands. I really enjoyed most of groups, counseling sessions and activities that we had, and I know now that this place made a positive impact on me in many ways. I’ve been home a little over a week now and my life is absolutely better. Im going to meetings, staying clean and have learned how to communicate effectively again. I made a lot of friends whom I will never forget, and got a chance to be introduced to the local recovery scene here on Hilton Head Island (I’m a local) by going to outside meetings, which I am now actively a part of. The only real downside was communication, especially between the specialists, case workers, techs, nurses and doctors, which unfortunately is the case with many places like this. All I can say about that is “the squeaky wheel is the one that gets the grease” so if you come here and you don’t feel that you are getting the attention you need, just make sure that you advocate for yourself and don’t feel bad being persistent or “annoying”, you have to do some things for yourself and make your voice heard in some situations. Once I figured that out I was able to get everything that I needed in a timely manner, but not everyone there was as fortunate as I in that regard. Besides that, it was a great stay. I originally went just for detox and by my 3rd day made the decision to stay the entire 34 days. Having TVs in the rooms helped me a lot with my usually sleeping issues in places like this. The mens campus is beautiful. It has a pool, a backyard with plenty of room to do your own thing (I played guitar and took lots of time appreciating the wildlife). I had a great counselor and enjoyed the groups done by most of them. Other notable shoutouts were the BHT staff, especially the BHT lead, who would ALWAYS do everything he could to make each client feel at home and taken care of. Many of the nurses took extra time to care for me (I recently had a surgery before going there) and made me feel safe and aware of how my healing process was going. I did have some problems with a couple of the nurses who didn’t make me feel heard, but learned again how to advocate for myself and get the attention I needed, especially when I had to go to the hospital when I ended up getting an infection and needed my surgery area drained. Most of the groups were very useful, although some of them just felt like “filler” depending on who ran them. The chefs were very involved in our community, and attended every community meeting to make sure we all were getting what we wanted. The fridge was always stocked and we had many options for snacks at any given time. The only thing I feel the food was lacking was a decent vegetarian/vegan menu, as there only seemed to be 3 rotating options for clients with those dietary restrictions. Hopefully in the future they expand on that. Other communication issues involved the doctors and nurse practitioners, who never all seemed to be on the same page. For example, I had a very expensive refrigerated medication delivered there, and instead of being placed in a fridge that day like it should had been, it sat overnight in one of the offices and risked potentially going bad. Thankfully the company who sent it filled the box with ice packs and it was still usable, but this is just an example of those communication gray areas. Just make sure if you come here you are vigilant and check up on important things like that. If you want recovery, you will find it here. Like any place like this, you must be willing, open minded and patient to get the results in which you seek, but all of (or at least most of) the tools you need are available here in some capacity. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone looking to change their lives for the better.

Well I don’t know where to start. Everyone here has been so awesome! The food on the other hand wasn’t the best and us women need healthy food!!!! And didn’t have hot water the whole time I was here. After telling staff every day. Also , staff telling maintenance I didn’t have hot water until the last day I was here!!!! But overall I got a lot of knowledge on my addiction. I am leaving here with confidence. Thank you and all the staff very much!!!

Britelife is a wonderful place. The staff is absolutely wonderful. They really care about their residents’ recovery. They just hired a new Chef, Brad, and his sous chef, Samone, provided us with delicious meals. The Easter spread was amazing! The house sits on a pond, and the great for some nature therapy. Mrs. Quincy is a great therapist, and very knowledgeable of addiction and healing your body, mind, and spirit. The nurses were very kind, especially Nurse Jenn. She really cares about the residents there. Mrs. Lisa was the house manager and did everything she could to help us in anyway she could. Shout out to Shakera and Shannon, the best BHTs… Hands Down! Can’t wait to see y’all for the alumni annual Dinner!!! Hugs and Loves! Tabitha ❤️

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
