About Casa Maria Transitional Housing Program

The Casa Maria Transitional Housing Program helps women who need a place to live as they work on recovering from substance use disorders. They provide long term sober living facilities that are safe, structured and free from drugs and alcohol. I like that they also accept mothers with their children.

A Home Like Setting for Recovery in Pasadena

This facility is located in Pasadena, California which is a city known for its vibrant culture and arts. The home is located in North Central on a quiet residential street. Clients will have neighbors and live in a regular house that will help them get used to living back in traditional society. Many women come to Casa Maria after inpatient rehab.

The home is within easy walking distance to a stop for buses 31, 32 and 33. It is also minutes from Washington Park which has a gazebo and children’s play area.

Transitional Home for Women

The aim of transitional housing is to give residents an ideal balance between structure and accountability while giving them more freedom and autonomy than inpatient programs. It also helps women who are homeless or have unstable housing to have a safe and reliable place to live while they build the foundation of a stable home life.

In Casa Maria, residents typically attend work or school and also participate in recovery programming such as 12 step groups. Staff may perform random drug tests and set rules about curfews, visitors, chores and more. Women also pay rent but it’s designed to be affordable.

Housing for as Long as You Need It

One of the best things about this type of living arrangement is that you can stay as long as you choose. So long as you follow the rules and pay your rent, you are welcome to continue to live here.

Recovery for Californian Mothers

Women with young children are welcome here and they are placed in special bedrooms that have cribs or toddler beds. Appropriate furniture and other equipment is available for use.

Staff may also support mothers with getting access to parenting classes, childcare, and other services.

Feels like being among middle school girls again. I’m almost middle aged, I was shocked by tha cattiness and immaturity. The passive aggressive behaviors. My program kept me sober, but Casa made me want to drink. So grateful I got out of there. I’ve also heard the staff has been known to steal the controlled medication they keep locked up. Happened to multiple women and that was just during my couple of months there. And $900 dollars to share a single room with about 8-10 women is utterly insane in my opinion. Glad I didn’t let this place take me out.

Staff dips into your controlled medications they have “locked up”. A staff member stole over 24 out of my 30 pills and the director Maribel said there was nothing she could do about it. Now my insurance is making me pay a l hefty sum of money I can’t afford to get my medication replaced and Casa refuses to pay for it even though they allegedly “misplaced it”. I also asked over 7 times for my bottle of adderall to be returned and each time they told me they couldn’t find it. The staff here are full blown addicts and steal medication from those of us who suffer from mental disorders. Now I am without medication. The staff at Casa are thieves who lie through their teeth. Filing a report on this place. I pray no one else has to endure this.

The staff including Maribel Gonzales the program director stole over half a bottle of my anxiety medication that I need for acute Panic Disorder and PTSD. The day I finally had enough and went to discharge she altogether refused to give me back my ADHD medication. Will be contacting police and filing a lawsuit. Avoid this place at all costs. They dip into your meds. Don’t end up like me, left without lifesaving medication.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Levels of Care

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

Sober living homes in California offers an intermediate sober environment that has less structure than inpatient rehab but more than typical home environments. This makes it a good option for those who have concerns about transitioning back to the "real world" after treatment. Residents can typically live at the halfway house as long as they want, if they are willing to follow house rules. These may include a curfew, chores, and maintaining a job.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

When addicted, quitting your drug of choice suddenly can be dangerous. That's why experts agree a medically assisted detox is the safest way to remove addictive substances from the body. Usually done in an inpatient setting, your vitals signs and overall well being are consistently monitored and rechecked in order to keep you safe and ensure the detox is successful.

inpatient iconInpatient

Inpatient rehab provides intensive treatment for clients exiting detox, those in early recovery, and those at an elevated risk of relapse. Unlike outpatient drug rehab, clients receiving inpatient care reside at the facility for the duration of the program. The length of stay may range from two weeks to 18 months or more, depending on the client's needs and the program's design. Inpatient treatment typically involves extensive addiction education and recovery-focused life skills training.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

In California, substance abuse treatment programs can help individuals with any type of substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions. These rehab programs typically encompass various levels of care, including medically assisted detox, intensive outpatient, outpatient, residential rehab, and partial hospitalization. You can expect clinicians to utilize evidence-based therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and mindfulness to help you achieve and sustain your recovery. The rehab's clinical team can provide a comprehensive assessment to determine the appropriate level of care and medical support you may need.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Child Program

The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Was at Casa Maria

I stayed at Casa Maria about 5 years ago. It was okay. I liked it there sort of. I might want to go back. I may need somewhere to stay. I don't like the place where I am at. I might want to check with my case manager at Pacific clinics to see if I can go to Casa Maria. Thank ... Read More
