About Children’s Medical Center – Care House

Children’s Medical Center – Care House is part of Dayton Children’s, located on Valley Street in Dayton, Ohio. Care House is located in a new, standalone facility with onsite parking available for you and your loved ones.

They provide services for children who are neglected, victims of abuse and who are struggling with mental health issues and often substance use disorder. They are located close to Dayton Children’s Hospital and to I-75 for easy transportation to and from your child’s treatment.

They are located close to hotels, restaurants and retail stores as well as cultural attractions. Nearby you will find many natural cultural landmarks including Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark, Eastwood Lake, Eastwood MetroPark and the Community Park.

Advocacy and Mental Health Support for Abused Children

They provide advocacy and support for children who have been neglected or abused. They may also be experiencing mental health issues and co-occurring disorders. I find it important to know that they provide medical support, therapy to address emotional and behavioral issues and investigative services.

Legal services are available to ensure the child is no longer in danger or at-risk of being harmed. They also provide education programs on abuse for families and caregivers.

Referrals to Higher Levels of Treatment

Additionally, I like that Care House provides referrals and access to higher levels of care including inpatient residential treatment for substance use and mental health disorders, outpatient services with intensive treatment and other community groups for support.

I was there Friday night with my daughter for shortness of breath and throat hurting bad. Nurse walked us out of the ER to different area where Bloom Eye care use to be. They tested her for strep and came back negative. Nurse says her breathing and throat are fine. She prescribed motrin and was sent home. Friday night/Saturday was awful for my daughter. I went to urgent care Saturday morning and they ran covid, flu and strep. She came back positive for flu and her breathing was off. Children's is a joke! I'm mad!

The emergency room is always filthy. Nobody cleans ever germs everywhere. I live in Dayton, but I choose to go all the way to Austin Landing because how filthy it is here.

Billing department SUCKS! Why can other hospitals get it spot on every time and you all fall apart every single time? This is one of the many reasons we generally use Cincinnati Children's for most of our care.

Accepted Insurance

Please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Children’s Medical Center – Care House works with several private insurance providers, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Ohio provides comprehensive treatment to address the physical and psychological needs of those struggling with substance use disorders. This may involve inpatient and/or outpatient care.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
