The staff were so supportive and honestly with all I was going through while I was there I couldnt have made it through without them. When I got on my own two feet it was a little scary because I had them there in emergencies and I would be on my own. But they have definitely gave me the courage and support to know that I can do it on my own. I can not give enough good words about how they helped me. I am so greatful for everything they did for me. The ywca is honestly a great place to empower women to get better for people who dont have the support system in their life. Waited only a few more minutes for my nurse to come into my room, and only another couple of minutes before I saw a doctor. They were very prompt even tho the er was obviously busy. They were very understanding of my health problem when I explained what was wrong. They didn't judge me whatsoever. They treated me the same as they would any other person. They made me feel welcome, equal, and worthy of care. In the past, I haven't gone to the er (when I really needed to) because I was embarrassed and ashamed to have to admit what my problem was caused by. The doctors and nurses at Fort Hamilton Hospital did not judge me when I explained, they were thankful for my honesty because now they could treat my condition better knowing the full story, then they never brought it up again. Nobody looked at me differently, or acted like I was some kind of drug seeker. These people were wonderful. They eased my concern IMMEDIATELY, and never said another thing about it. If you are a client then realize this is your kids time. This is not for you. Yes, it is so you can bond with your child. Please let your child leave your emotions at the door. That time is important for your child. Engage as much as possible and compliment your kids. You can do it. I promise you got this. It is so important to show up. If you do anything on the Case plan the most important part is to be there for your kids. They notice when you do not show up. Please do not take this part of the case lightly. Whatever you have going on outside of visitation do not bring it here. These people tri their best. Your family can and will get through this. I think more personal counseling would be beneficial with trauma. No caffeine and no sugar took some getting used to but i got so healthy while being there, I felt great when I left! I had a medical emergency while in residential treatment and the input i got from Dr.Soto was completely wrong, i can count on one hand how many times i interacted her, she had no idea what she was talking about but the rest of the staff made up for that. Overall I had a great experience at the Ridge. I would recommend this to everyone. This is one of those moments. My sister completes treatment tomorrow, and I cannot let this milestone pass without expressing my deepest gratitude to the entire team who cared for her. After more than 30 years of substance use and countless experiences with treatment, this is the first time my sister has successfully completed a treatment program. That alone makes tomorrow incredibly meaningful for our family. But what means even more to me is knowing that she was not simply treated for her substance use disorder she was cared for as a whole person. She entered treatment with serious and critical health concerns that required attention, advocacy, and compassionate care. Those concerns were recognized and addressed. The staff went above and beyond to make sure her health and safety were not overlooked, and that her needs were treated with the dignity and seriousness they deserved. As someone who works professionally in the SUD field, I know how much goes into helping someone reach this point. I understand the importance of consistency, compassion, boundaries, clinical skill, medical attention, and perhaps most importantly having people who continue to see the person underneath the addiction. But as her sister, I experienced something even more personal... relief and hope. For the first time in a very long time, my family could breathe a little easier knowing she was somewhere safe, seen, heard, and genuinely cared for. Recovery is not easy. Thirty years of addiction does not disappear in a month. Completing treatment does not mean the journey is over. But completing treatment after decades of struggle is a tremendous accomplishment, and she should be incredibly proud of herself. The encouragement and coordinated care for her discharge planning was imperative. This was executed with precision as well. To every person who played a part in her care, thank you. Thank you for showing up for her. Thank you for taking her health concerns seriously. Thank you for seeing beyond her history and recognizing the person she still was underneath all of it.
