About Tulip Hill Recovery

Tulip Hill is here to help you join the millions of Americans in active recovery. We bridge the gap between world-class clinical treatment and a holistic, caring environment at our rehab center in Murfreesboro, TN. We also offer drug addiction rehab in Nashville. We truly believe that recovery is possible for anyone. Since opening, we’ve helped hundreds of people find their feet in sobriety through our holistic approach to treatment. We believe that substance and alcohol addictions are often only a band-aid on a much larger problem – mental illness. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), around 7.7 million American adults have co-occurring addiction and mental health conditions. Our dual diagnosis treatment encompasses all of the most effective parts of drug and alcohol rehab and mental health treatment to get to the root of the real problem.

This is not a place for anyone with any type of addiction to alcohol. It IS a place for those who have serious drug addictions such as fetanyl and heavier drugs and need a place off the streets to heal. I spent 21 days there and got exactly 1 hour of "therapy" which consisted of my telling my story to a therapist. The therapists definitely use your story against you and do not guard it from the other residents. There was hour upon hour upon hour of wasted time which could have been spent in much better ways. I began to count the wasted hours that I could have been spending with my husband and family. It was obvious when the teacher was unprepared and clearly "phoned it in." The staff was manipulative when it came to phone calls/contact with family/support. They did not listen to me when my situation became perilous to my mental health even when confronted with these facts. Matt was a wonderful teacher when it came down to the heart of the matter, but it was a painful journey getting there, wading through silly games before the true nature of addiction was addressed. George, a good man with a good heart, was intensely impactful once you wade through the extreme amount of expletives to get to the heart of the message. There was a "cuss counter" who clocked 370 expletives in one 2 and 1/2 hour session. Would I recommend Tulip Hill for the average alcohol dependent person? Absolutely not! I would recommend it for the seriously drug addicted, no other options, person. I felt physically safe, but mentally and emotionally uncared for. When I decided to leave earlier than my 35 insurance days called for, I was humiliated in front of the class for my "foolish" decision. I came home from rehab needing rehab from my experience. Look past all the positive reviews and talk to past residents if possible. I lost count of the amount of residents who were lied to re: contact with friends/family. Please take this review under advisement before giving of yourself to Tulip Hill. Once you are there, the leaving is not as easy as they would have you think. I left with the desire to drink more than the desire not to.

We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience with us did not meet your expectations. At Tulip Hill, we take all feedback seriously, whether positive or critical, because it helps us improve and also gives future clients a fuller picture of our program. We appreciate that you took the time to leave a review, but we must address the inaccuracies and misleading statements presented here.
Alcohol vs. Drug Addiction Treatment
Tulip Hill treats both alcohol and drug addictions. To suggest otherwise is simply false. Many of our graduates came to us struggling with alcohol dependence and achieved lasting recovery.
Therapy and Program Structure
Claiming you received only one hour of therapy over a 21-day stay is not accurate. Our clients receive multiple group and individual therapy sessions, therapeutic activities, and educational workshops every week. If you chose not to engage or left early, that does not reflect the program we provide.
Confidentiality
The statement that therapists “use your story against you” or share it with other residents is not only misleading but also undermines the integrity of our licensed professionals. Tulip Hill follows strict confidentiality standards in compliance with federal law (HIPAA), and we take breaches of confidentiality very seriously.
Time Management & Activities
Every activity in our program serves a therapeutic purpose, even if not every client recognizes the value in the moment. Dismissing them as “silly games” overlooks the evidence-based reasons behind these interventions.
Staff & Family Communication
Our staff follow guidelines designed to support recovery, not to isolate clients. Restrictions on calls and visitation are standard in treatment centers, because constant outside contact can interfere with the healing process in the early stages of recovery.
Premature Discharge
It is important to note that you left the program early, against clinical recommendations. Leaving before completing treatment is known to negatively impact recovery outcomes. While we respect your choice, it is misleading to suggest that your decision had no bearing on your dissatisfaction.
Mischaracterization of Staff
You mention positive experiences with our instructors, but then attempt to discredit them with exaggerated claims (e.g., “370 expletives counted”). This type of commentary distorts the reality of how our staff work and undermines the genuine help they provide to others.
In Conclusion
Your review does not fairly represent Tulip Hill Healthcare or the treatment we provide. The overwhelming majority of our clients who fully participate in and complete the program report positive experiences and long-term recovery success. While treatment can be uncomfortable and challenging—that is often part of the healing process—it is misleading to present an incomplete experience as the whole truth.

I recommend this program to any woman struggling with addiction who has completed an inpatient rehabilitation program. "Scottina" who is the director of housing is simply amazing and she truly is a beacon who provides opportunity and stability by helping you strengthen your support system(s). The house managers do an awesome job giving attention to each woman considering their individual needs. The women are like family and I feel so lucky to be a part of this spiritual program. It's very progressive in recovery and leads you towards living a Christ like life by opening your eyes and acknowledging &accepting Jesus Christ & God's sacrifice for you individually. I am so blessed to have Beacon Recovery in my life and I encourage more women to be part of this amazing family 💯❤️

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Inpatient rehabs are designed principally for clients who require intensive supervision and support, including clients who have just completed detox, clients in early recovery, and clients at an elevated risk of relapse. Inpatient treatment helps clients stabilize following detox and prepares them to step-down into outpatient and/or community-based care. Clients reside at the facility for the duration of their program and engage in extensive addiction counseling and education. Many programs also offer evidence-based complementary therapies.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Clients receiving support in a rehab aftercare program typically have abstained from drugs or alcohol for a period of weeks or months and have completed high-level (often inpatient) treatment. Drug rehab aftercare is designed to support clients in maintaining their sobriety as they re-engage with their ordinary lives at home, in the workplace, and in the community. Services are highly individualized and evolve with clients' changing needs, but generally include peer coaching and relapse prevention.

12-step icon12-Step

When enrolld in an addiction recovery program that's based on the 12 step model, clients are able to cultivate recovery-focused life skills emphasizing spiritual, mental, and emotional healing. Participants receive intensive peer support in 12 step meetings, which are anonymous, free, open to the public, and available day and night in most communities. Self-selected sponsors guide sponsees through the recovery journey, cultivating self-awareness, forgiveness, acceptance, and accountability. Though these programs are rooted in spiritual principles, participants aren't required to be religiously affiliated.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

A sober living home in Tennessee, also known as a halfway house, refers to a group residence for men or women who are recovering from addiction. These are usually privately owned homes or houses owned by a nonprofit or business. Most are located in quiet residential areas. Residents have their own rooms or share a room with one roommate, and they share common areas. Each resident pays rent and helps with household maintenance.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

The goal of a drug intervention in Tennessee is to encourage a person with a substance use disorder to enter treatment. The process also educates family members about addiction, enabling behaviors, and treatment options. The involvement of intervention services can help with this education and provide guidance for the intervention itself and follow-up care. The professional interventionist will work with the entire family to encourage the best outcomes possible from the intervention.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

Safe detox requires 24-hour clinical care in Tennessee. This is due to the health risks that are involved during withdrawal. As the brain reacts to the absence of the drug, severe symptoms can occur, depending on the type of drug used. For instance, alcohol and benzodiazepine withdrawal may result in seizures. Fortunately, supervised care in a clinical setting can provide the necessary treatment to avoid health risks and allow you to complete detox safely.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

To keep you safe and comfortable during the detoxification process, a medically assisted detox provides you with a team of medical professionals who can provide the necessary medications to treat any potential withdrawal symptoms. Suddenly stopping chronic abuse of substances like alcohol, benzodiazepines, or opioids can have uncomfortable and even dangerous side effects.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When your day-to-day life is taken over by drug use, this is known as substance use disorder. If you abruptly stop using your drug of choice, you experience withdrawal symptoms. To overcome this cycle, professional drug rehab in Tennessee is usually needed.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image

LGBTQ Program

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Typical cognitive behavioral therapy in Tennessee involves recognizing negative thinking and learning techniques to change that thinking and create new, positive behaviors. Strategies may include SMART goals, journaling, and situation exposure.

Counseling in Tennessee that takes a dialectical behavior therapy approach can last from six to 12 months. During that time, you'll develop skills in the areas of distress tolerance, mindfulness, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.

In Tennessee, group therapy sessions for drug and alcohol addiction typically involve skill development to help you learn communication techniques and relapse prevention strategies. These strategies support your transition into the community and help you maintain long term sobriety.

Men and women in Tennessee undergoing one on one individual therapy sessions focus on understanding their unique needs and challenges. They do this under the guidance of an experienced therapist who can help you identify and address addiction triggers as well as create personalized relapse prevention plans. This offers you a customized path to a successful recovery journey.

If you participate in motivational interviewing in Tennessee, your therapist will focus on four key strategies: open questions, affirmation, reflections, and summarizing. Rather than confront or warn you to change, the clinician will allow you to explore your own motivations and decide what changes you may need to make in your life.

While engaged in couples therapy in Tennessee, you'll learn how to trust, communicate, forgive, and manage emotions. Developing these skills can be beneficial at any time during the relationship, but they are particularly crucial when facing life challenges.

Family therapy uses a structured environment to address the complexities of addiction and the negative influences it has on the family unit. Therapists work with family members to develop effective coping and communication strategies that support their loved one's recovery while also focusing on the health and well being of each family member.

Life skills training teaches you how to cope with challenging situations in non destructive ways. This crucial piece of drug rehab in Tennessee gives you tools for decision making, relationship building, and self care.

Recreational therapy supports addiction recovery by giving you structured activities that promote physical and mental health. These help build a supportive network of your peers that promotes sobriety. Activities can include sports, creative arts, and outdoor adventures that help you reduce cravings, manage stress, and give you an emotional outlet.

Creative arts therapy can be integrated with other therapeutic methods during drug rehab in Tennessee. This treatment can provide unique experiences that allow you to better understand your feelings and experiences. Methods include music, art, dance, and writing therapy.

A wide range of therapeutic methods fall under the category of experiential therapy. Examples include drama therapy, animal assisted therapy, wilderness therapy, music therapy, and martial arts. Each of these offers an experience that allows the individual to express themselves and work through their emotions and experiences.

Spent 90+ days in treatment here . Amazing facility that taught me more about how to live a life rather than just how to deal with my addiction . The staff is terrific and it made for a very comforting and safe space for recovery .

I did not receive treatment here because my insurance was out of network, however Alex and Dustin reached out to a few other programs and got me hooked up with the right place. Alex knew what I was looking for and found an amazing place for me. I wasn’t even his to worry about but I kept receiving calls from him untill he found the right place. It was so nice of him to care so much about a complete stranger. Though I couldn’t go here I can tell they truly care about getting people better. I can’t thank you enough Alex!

I have just completed 90 days here at Tulip Hill and I can honestly say this experience has been nothing short of life changing. If you are honestly looking to change your life for the better, Tulip Hill will provide you with the tools and education that can help jumpstart you on your path to becoming a better version of yourself. Tulip Hill’s staff from the therapists, case managers and techs all genuinely care about the clients and want them to succeed in a very real and tangible way. From the moment I became a resident up until the completion of my treatment, there was not a need of mine that wasnt met. The group work is set in a very comfortable environment where true vulnerability can be displayed and each one of the therapists brings a unique and different approach that almost ensures that the client will find the help they need. This experience has put me on the right path for growth in so many areas of my life and has provided me with the tools to not only keep what Ive learned here, but continue to grow and improve in my daily life outside of treatment. I thank God for bringing me to this place and I can say with all of my heart that this experience will stay with me for the rest of my life. Thank you to all of the staff here at Tulip Hill for everything you have done for me.

I can’t say enough good things about this rehab located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The staff here is truly beyond supportive—they go above and beyond to ensure everyone feels seen, heard, and cared for. The clients are equally amazing; I’ve met some of the kindest, most understanding people who’ve made this journey feel less isolating and more like a shared experience. Through my time here, I’ve grown so much. I’ve rediscovered the confidence I once thought was lost and have developed tools to maintain a healthier, happier lifestyle. The community here is absolutely incredible, and it’s been such a safe and welcoming space for healing. If you’re looking for a place where you can truly rebuild yourself surrounded by positivity and care, I highly recommend this rehab.
