About Freedom Recovery – East

When Thomas and Shawn Smith lost their son, Jacob Smith, to addiction, they decided to help others overcome the disease that took his life. They created Jacob’s House located in downtown Columbus, Ohio. This facility is a CARF-accredited sober living home that bridges the gap between alcohol or drug rehab and independent living. The house opened in January 2019 and can accommodate five adults. The organization partners with Freedom Recovery, an addiction treatment provider with multiple Ohio locations.

Jacob’s House is one of two nonprofit, faith-based sober living homes the Smiths opened in Columbus. Both apply Christian principles and teachings in their programs. While living at Jacob’s House, you’ll be expected to participate in group counseling sessions and 12-step meetings.

The Smiths have established clear rules that all residents must adhere to. Although some rules may seem punitive, they’re in place to protect you and other residents. Most importantly, Jacob’s House has a zero tolerance policy for drugs or alcohol, meaning no one on the property can possess or be under the influence of these substances. People who break this rule must leave immediately and won’t be welcome back. That policy is fairly standard for sober living facilities, so it’s vital to ensure you feel truly ready before entering one of these homes.

Jacob’s House is located on the bus line, so you can easily get to work, school, court appointments, grocery stores, and other necessities. Since it’s near the city center, you’ll also be able to quickly access other Columbus attractions, including the Scioto River and its bordering parks, the Franklin Park Conservatory, and various museums, historic buildings, restaurants, and shops.

Well for starters the confidentiality claim is not at all being upheld because they give the laboratory your personal information and let them determine how much and how often they want to test your urine now if I am correct I'm pretty sure that goes completely against the Hippa law that states that they are not allowed to give out your information unless you sign a release of information form so when they send your urine screen to the laboratory the laboratories job is to test the urine sample and send the results back to freedom recovery east so I don't understand how the laboratory would be able to get some of my personal information such as my diagnosis from freedom recovery because I never signed a release of information for the lab so I would like to report this and ask where and what am I supposed to do to make sure the proper channels are tooken so this situation is looked into and if there was a violation of my Hippa rights that the person responsible is held accountable thanks

I was so Blessed to have gone through Freedom Recovery IOP, this program played an important role and I believe help save my life. The Counselors at Freedom helped me restore in my recovery confidence in God, myself, and others. I still remember early in my recovery when I was so broken and having zero confidence in myself and that there was no way I could beat my addiction. My three Counselors showed so much Love, respect, and care to each person in the group but at the same time made us dig deep, evaluated progress/failures and helped us identify goals in our lives. After many years of alcohol abuse my life had become unmanageable and my spirit and thought processes were extremely out of wack and at first everything they ask us to do seemed so foreign and made absolutely no sense to me but slowly day by day things started to make sense, I am a true believer in Freedom and the process that they use to help you, help yourself, yes you have to do a lot of uncomfortable work but for me it was one of the most rewarding times in my life. I will never forget my Counselors and how they helped me change my life and I am so Blessed that God has put people like you in my path, the Counselors at Freedom were such a inspiration for me and I will take what Freedom Recovery has given me and share with others and pay it forward that the cycle of addiction can be beat and that there is Hope.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with specific responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. Freedom Recovery adjusts schedules so the patients can attend the sessions and complete the program which takes about 10 hours per week.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Ohio provides comprehensive treatment to address the physical and psychological needs of those struggling with substance use disorders. This may involve inpatient and/or outpatient care.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

I reached out to Freedom Recovery during a time in my life when I needed direction, clarity, guidance and support. The counselors there were amazing, I enjoyed weekly one on one sessions with my counselor, as well as loving support and encouragement. My voice was always heard. And they were always truthful. There were group sessions with flexible times and days, never felt any pressure. They served the best meals every visit! Freedom Recovery supported me through 15 weeks of great counseling to graduation, including transportation when I needed it! My experience was amazing and affective! I will never forget it! I am truly grateful to Freedom Recovery and their counselors!

I was a patient in the 12 week IOP program offered by Freedom Recovery. During those weeks I spent time at both east and west offices and had the privilege of getting to know most of the staff at both. Everyone was consistently pleasant and upbeat! I felt very welcomed and supported throughout my journey! I had been in and out of the rooms of AA for 12 years prior to my experience with Freedom and I am proud to say that I have been sober ever since! They were able to provide the tools that I needed to finally stop for good!
