I went through detox and residential treatment, which consisted of a 37 day stay. The food was wonderful. The kitchen staff was great, especially Jami!!! The nursing staff was great! They attended to all my needs my entire stay!!! I'd like to thank Heidi, Marissa, Ann, Shonta, Mendi, Sue, Saleena, and EVEN Eddie. The therapist were wonderful!!! Bri, Spencer, Kelli, Chelsea, Pat and Ameina conducted great groups, took us on walks, did crafts with us, and gave constructive feedback. The techs were very helpful and great problem solvers!!! If anyone wants to truly work on themselves, this is a great place to find real assistance...😊 Anthony Shy 1 month ago I stayed here September 8th-October 11th 2023 when it was called Evoke Wellness. I have a PTSD and bipolar diagnosis, and they were one of the few treatment centers in the Midwest that could take my insurance during a mental health emergency. When I was there, I was coming down from mania, and obviously hated pretty much every second I was there. However, it was the slow down and forced reset that my brain needed. What else was there to do but sit with myself and think about it? All my obligations and most distractions were cut off. 3 years later and no relapses, I see this visit as the best thing I could have ever done for myself. The staff were all pleasant. I remember my therapists Misch and Chelsie. Both were so sweet and compassionate. John came to pick me up at a meeting point when my family couldn't complete my entire trip to Ohio, and his patience when I was asking him for my items I never even packed... Mandy was also amazing, she recognized that I was distressed about a delayed discharge to a step down facility, and got on the phone to get me out the door that day. Everybody here truly does want the best for the patients, even though it was hard to feel that way when I was in the middle of it. The facility was clean. Food was yummy, albeit fattening. I gained 15 pounds here lmao. I made some good friends here. I still follow some on socials and keep the notes they gave me while I was here. Thank you for the work you do. To anyone reading this who is looking at treatment and feeling scared: healing is hard and lonely work, but it's necessary. I was deep into my addiction to fentanyl when I started coming here and a few months before I had overdosed twice having to be dozed with narcan both times. I truly believe that if it wasn't for a compdrug I wouldn't be here today. Yes at first I did struggle to get clean because the methadone just wasn't enough. But I didn't give up and I kept coming every single day and within a few months the methadone started being enough and I didn't need fentanyl anymore. Throughout the years I have experienced nothing but kind, caring, compassionate service from the staff here. I truly do feel like the staff here cares about my sobriety. I have never regretted the decision to walk through those front doors at compdrug and today my life is absolutely amazing. I still feel like every single day continues to get better and better. This place has been very accommodating when my counselor is out sick by finding another counselor willing to do my 1 hour session. As a kid I was very picky about who I spoke to for counseling but I've enjoyed speaking with every counselor here! if you're a male who is thinking about starting methadone it most likely will cause hypogonadism also known as low testosterone levels. I was not told this when I started here and I went 3 years untreated. 2 years ago I found a urologist for peeing problems who performed a TURP surgery on me due to a narrow urethra. It was because of my follow up appointment that my urologist ordered multiple testosterone levels tests which were too low. My experience at Ohio Hospital for Psychiatry was pleasant. As a person who has suffered from trauma related schizophrenia, I am grateful for my short term stay. Arriving there at roughly 11:00pm on a Friday night, I was greeted and treated with respect and that is how I felt the entire stay there. These people tried to get to the root of my illness and again, I am grateful for that. Thank you to the social workers for being patient with my unique living situation. Thank you to the community support staff for simply being there. Thank you for to the activities staff for getting me out of my room as often as you could and thank you to housekeeping for keeping the place as clean as can be. Take care. -E.
