Honestly I should not even give them a one. Let me tell you about this place do not go!!!!!!!! They are using your insurance they have no classes, at all during the day. Next, they lost my stove rather three shirts of mine and also I was not giving my ADHD medicine which is not a controlled substance. That's missing. The best thing about that place was the food and the people in the kitchen amazing six stars for them kind considerate compassionate. My name is Shane and I was doing so much better before I went in there I went to Banyan stuart. And then went there said it was a recovery dual diagnosis not! Not it's a psych ward asylum back in the fifties period.......I'm begging you please do not go see you there, they are very short staffed, and all the women that work is nurses except for two of them or mean-spirited no compassion and have been there way too long overworked, over underpaid. 5 minutes before I supposed to leave they said I cannot go because I had no ride. They ate up my insurance for 2 weeks and I was in every single unit and its cage they do not utilize the outside of the perimeters because they are too lazy to take you outside. So you are in there 23 hours a day. I had a nervous breakdown while I was in there. I came here looking for dual diagnosis and all I got was a psych ward back in the 50s it was awful. For the love of God do not send any of your family members there. I got llll. Last but not least they did not put my medicine in there which is not a controlled substance when I was leaving and I'm missing three shirts and if you read the rest of the comments there's a lot of fever in there..... That is why they are understaffed. If you want to go back in time and go to an asylum then go ahead, it was nothing short of a psych ward there is no mental help there whatsoever..It got worse day by day which I came in a very happy person left their losing my effing mind. There were a couple good people couple nurses that I absolutely fell in love with and attack named Mark he was amazing other than that do not go there I've been fighting with them two days in a row to get my medication it disappeared like everything else...Take care of yourselves and do not go there there are plenty of other places there is absolutely no recovery or dual diagnosis it is a straight-up psych ward

Over all I am thankful for the hospital. The staff are very friendly. This place helped me when I couldn't find help. Also a formal apology. I learned from another rehab through therapy that I called port saint lucie for help. They didn't call me. And I don't get to tell help how to help me. There was help I needed that I couldn't get but I do belive the staff did everything they could to help me and help me find a place to go. I'm not writing this for in case I come back. I womt be back. Not because it's a bad place, but after 25 years of therapy and rehabs, what is there left to do? I have the tools. My problems are the problems it's the solution I've been using. Drugs and alchohol. That's solution doesn't work anymore. So for what it's worth. Thank you. J Rhoades sighning off

Accepted Insurance

Port St. Lucie Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Clients typically choose inpatient rehab when they are in early recovery or are experiencing a crisis that puts them at an increased risk of relapse. They reside at the treatment center for the length of their program, which may range from two weeks to more than 18 months, depending on the program design. Intensive psychotherapy is often the primary treatment modality, but clients in inpatient care may also receive holistic treatment and recovery-focused life skills training.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) involve frequent and robust therapeutic sessions for clients requiring high-level care. Clients may engage in a combination of medication assisted treatment (MAT), addiction counseling, recovery skills training, and holistic therapies for a minimum of nine and a maximum of 20 hours per week. Intensive outpatient rehab is designed primarily for persons in early recovery, those exiting detox or inpatient care, and those at an elevated relapse risk.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
If a person with a substance use disorder continually denies their problem or refuses to get treatment, a drug intervention in Florida may be necessary. Intervention services can help mediate the intervention by providing an addiction expert. This professional can de-escalate situations and facilitate a healthier discussion between the individual and their loved ones. Specialists can also help families handle issues they don't know how to navigate on their own.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in Florida is an essential part of treatment, particularly with medical detox. Withdrawal symptoms can be severe, and supervised detox provides around the clock access to medical professionals who can adminsiter proper medications and treatment to address these symptoms and step in should an emergency occur. This intensive clinical care will help curb the withdrawal effects, minimize substance dependence, and prepare you for the next step of treatment.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Awful, feels like jail, cigs stolen constantly, outside in benches once a day for 30min if ur lucky. No real classes. Nothing to do except puzzles and smoke only when aloud. Bathroom doors have pads in place of where a door should be, also set up like jail and full of mold, phone never answered impossible to get ahold of your family members if your calling into the “jail” food is amazing and that’s it. No exercise no classes .group is consisted of filling out 1 of 3 of the same pieces of paper 3 times a day. Are and activities barely show up , nurses over worked under staffed, one tv surround by a few plastic chairs and 2 cafeteria tables makes up the entire wing. “Nourishment center” is actually just coffee broken juice machine an fridge full of milk container a few apples an oranges and every once in a while they throw single mini ice cream that won’t even be enough for each person to enjoy more then once in the entire week. Any other drinks are left in pitchers that WE FILL during breakfast or dinner and som are covered with paper plates. My bathroom stuff came up missing, I left and my insurance was charged twice, they wouldn’t allow me to come in for residential treatment the dr social worker and my lawyer for court had already agreed to. Then when my insurance denied the resident treatment days before I even was done with detox the denial was due to dr claiming I was treated and released before. I can’t get ahold of my dr not once since leaving or even my unit nurse at all. No one returned calls constant hung up on and rerouted the admission nurse must be overworked cuz she was so rude and threw around my clothes mad I packed to much when I wasn’t told anything except bring clothes and cigs unopened and could be there 2 weeks to 30 days so I couldn’t choose what I could grab to wear from my luggage either and she was mad the entire admissions and unwelcoming. The staff left me alone most of the admission except to drug test me a sign agreements. I cousin wait to leave and then when I couldn’t return or even get a contact my prescription was only for 7 days - the amount of time I was given till I returned which i couldn’t do. When I got suboxone the first two days it was so strong I fell out leaving my bathroom and threw up all day and night . And the same day leaving and the following day. They wouldn’t listen when I called about it being strong or mis prescribed and then after a week of cutting em down myself to take in doses so I could function . I had no more and couldn’t get anyone on the phone or any help getting answers to why I wasn’t picked up . If my insurance hadn’t sent a denial and double charge bill 3 separate bills from there the day before I was returning I wouldn’t have known why I couldn’t get my prescription get back in or get a single bit of help. The place is old , uncomfortable, out dated. Unfortunately the worst place u can think of . But they sure get u in fast and under just about any insurance .. should be fraud and condemned.. and I was just there this past march

I was at this hospital for 10 days. I was honestly hesitant due to the negative reviews I seen online, but I went anyway. I was there for post partum depression, anxiety and med stabilization. Dr. MARIE IS AMAZING. She talked to me the day after I got there for an hour. She listened and was compassionate and understanding of my situation. We did get my meds stabilized. I was in ASU. Autumn the social worker is also amazing and she does group once a day. I gave this place 3 stars due to the fact that there isn't any individual therapy and because you can only go outside twice a day in the afternoon. They do have smoke breaks throughout the day, so bring your own cigarettes as they don't have community cigarettes unless someone dinates some. Admissions staff was also amazing. They answered all my questions and were very nice. The food is good but it's the same food every week ,depending on what day it is. There is a TV. They have art therapy and recreational therapy, a goals group in the morning and at night an as a peer lead group which I lead 3 times. Some techs are very nice, but some are lazy and some are rude. Milan, Charles, hoodgens and Marie and .Melanie are all great techs. There is a phone to use. You can do laundry as well. No hoodies or anything with strings. Mark in admissions was awesome and tried to make me laugh and answered all my questions. They will pick up from your house and bring you home. Mrs. Dee is cool also. The kitchen staff is nice. We also did music group too. Nik, the patient advocate addressed all my grievances in a timely manner and spoke at length with me about them and changes have been made already while there. Overall it's a good place. It's clean. You get snacks too. I would go back if I ever needed too. It was a good experience, just had some kinks like any place. ASU is also for detox so some are there for drugs and some mental health. It does get a bit boring, but if you make some friends, it goes by fast. It's a short term place so people usually stay up to 14 days or less. Oh yeah, no flip flops and bring a sweater. It gets cold and some ear plugs. I gave it 3 stars because I felt it could have had some more groups and counseling and again, some techs weren't that great. I would recommend it though. It did help me with my meds and anxiety being away from kids. All is good now. Thank you guys so much. I'll be back if I ever need to go somewhere. Hope this helps clear up some resistance from the bad reviews. I appreciate everything.

I called this business ahead of time, and I was LIED to ! This is not a detox or a treatment center, it’s a state funded psychiatric hospital. I was there four days and not a single meeting, group, nothing. When I told them I wanted to leave it took them over a day to process my discharge. I’m assuming the five star review below mine is from someone who runs a referral service called RightLyfe. He has never been to that detox and is only rating it that high so they will send him patients

I personally loved it here . For what it was at least . A lot of down time that is a bit boring. I enjoyed the groups. Honeatly expected worse . The doctor I saw was caring , understandable, everything I did not expect. I believe I got the help and tools for a successful life. It's only been a week but I feel good . Met some really nice people that work there. It is what you make it to be , I sought help and received it openly.
