Will consider changing my review depending on how long it takes to get my refund. They have a god-awful terrible website regarding bill payment. I pay $170, no confirmation screen or email. Thinking it was an error I put in my information and pay again. Again NO confirmation screen/email. I look at my bank account, they took the payment out TWICE and overdrafted my bank account. I call them but the person who handles this was on lunch so I put my faith in the woman talking to me over the phone that I'll get refunded along with an emailed receipt. It's been a day and this has not happened. I think I'm more frustrated with the fact that the receptionist said this was a known problem and they instead encourage their customers to call and pay. You know what would be an easier fix? FIXING THE WEBSITE!! Either hire someone to make the system better or take it off as an option entirely. It's 2025 why are we acting like it's the 90's when it comes to their broken, buggy website. You are a doctor's office. The most helpful thing you can have is a functioning website so us customers don't have to wait for longer than needed and get it done ourselves but I digress. I am a college student so losing an additional $170 really puts me in a rough spot especially since they aren't giving it back as quickly as they took it. Again will consider the review changing depending on how long this takes.Edit 1: Called them again this morning. Got the same spiel and told me give them til the end of the day. If it's not solved by tomorrow this review stays and I have to go to my bank. Thanks mental health office for making my health infinitely worse!

Accepted Insurance

Comprehensive Psychiatric Associates, LLC works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehabs provide a safe, supportive environment for clients to focus on their recovery secure from outside distractions, stressors, and triggers. Clients receive housing, meals, and intensive clinical supervision. They also engage in extensive addiction counseling, often including group and family therapy. Many programs prioritize recovery-focused life skills training to support clients' reintegration into their home, workplace, school, and community. Evidence-based holistic therapies, such as yoga, acupuncture, meditation, hypnotherapy, or animal therapy, may also be provided.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs offer continuing care for clients in the maintenance phase of recovery and are designed to evolve over time. Outpatient treatment is generally categorized as drug rehab aftercare, but many clients continue to receive services after being discharged from formal care. These services are customized to clients' unique recovery goals, but typically include medical, mental health, and social services. Clients' case manager and recovery team play a key role in developing the client's care plan.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
Due to the potential for severe withdrawal symptoms, it is important to detox in a facility with 24-hour clinical care in Missouri. Most people experience some form of withdrawal symptoms, and this setting offers medical professionals who are on site 24/7 to provide any necessary treatment. This supervision makes the detox process safer and less painful and improves the likelihood of a successful recovery.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Missouri usually involves several phases: detox, rehab, and aftercare. The rehab phase may include a combination of inpatient and outpatient treatments, as the individual moves through a continuum of care on their recovery journey.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Military Program
Signature Psychiatric Hospital is dedicated to providing trauma and addiction treatment to those who serve our community and our nation. The Valor Recovery Program provides inpatient and outpatient treatment for active duty, veterans and first responders experiencing symptoms including: Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, and Addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Staff members only show uncaring, negative behavior towards us patients. I always felt like I was an inconvenience whenever I called. I mean, they handle psychiatric issues, they should not act that way

I have never waited for my appointment. Care is top notch. Having had several disorders in the family, I know a good doctor when I experience it! Wouldn't go anywhere else. .

My psychiatrist is fabulous but the office and billing staff are rude and hateful. They clearly know nothing about mental health! If they did, they would treat clients better!

The doctors are great, the woman in the front ended, specifically Shonda are extremely rude, they last empathy, and will make you feel less than human. She has changed the rules in me countless of times and has actually hung up on me after I asked for a moment to look at my calendar. Shonda is terrible

I saw Dr. Barash for many years and he is unsympathetic, curt, and downright cruel. Will overmedicate you and then take you off medicine so you go into withdrawal. If you have any problems he makes you feel like it is your fault. When I used to see him in the office, he was sometimes two hours late and spent all of five minutes with me. I waited a long time to write my review because I really wanted to think about what I wanted to say. The man shouldn’t be practicing, he does way more harm than he does good.

I see Dr. Karim. I have for a few years now, and I really like him. I do not feel rushed when I see him, and I feel that when I have concerns or questions, that he takes the time to answer them fully. The issues I have are more in regard to attempting to contact the practice by telephone. It can be tough especially during early morning or other peak phone times. While their website has good information on it, I wish they would incorporate some sort of portal, to handle the more routine non-emergency requests between the patient and provider.

Started seeing Karim around the beginning of the year as I had for many years being getting medicine through extended family from Mexico (since it was much, much cheaper, and the psychiatrist I original saw to get diagnosed and prescribed was CRONICALLY late constantly.) Anyways, unfortunately, that avenue closed, and I was starting to run low. The only provider I could find that was both covered by my insurance and taking new patients (or even bothered to be reachable) was this place. Unfortunately, the few times I've gone thus far haven't left me very impressed. I've tried to bring up a couple things, but he's come across as rather dismissive. I had hoped to finally get some therapy going so I can deal w/ my trauma, but he seems to be only interested in refilling my medications. I'd mention this to him, but considering my medications are for anxiety... (The meds make it so I can generally function w/o crippling anxiety, but they don't eliminate it entirely.)

I was so glad to find Dr. Ash after my beloved psychiatrist of 15 years passed away unexpectedly. I feel so blessed to have found a psychiatrist of like mind. He was incredibly kind and engaged, considering all my meds as a whole, and was very knowledgeable. I'm breathing sighs of relief to have found him. My wait time was very short. The front desk staff was congenial, upbeat and friendly. I found my new psychiatrist on my first try! What a great relief!
