While I would truly love to focus on the strengths of the select few staff members here that carry themselves in a professional and ethical manner, it would be disingenuous to you, the prospective client, to leave out the unfortunate reality that it is overwhelmingly the clients that are left to run 80-90% of the responsibilities of operating their own treatment program here. A holistic, dynamic recovery from substance abuse demands the rigorous participation of the individual for whom the program is designed to help recover. Unfortunately at Mirror Shawnee, this concept appears to have been skewed in such a way where the individual client is now responsible for the nutritional, sanitary and other fundamental needs of their peers, while the majority of the program "leaders" visibly struggle to affect their influence in a meaningful way. The moment one enters the circus event that is Mirror Shawnee, as a client, a concerned family member, or as a new or long time staff member- there air is thick with confusion and distress and the mutual distrust and competition among all parties involved is palpable at every turn. I'm leaving a 5 star review in the hope that they will this posted perhaps a little longer than if I gave an honest rating (1 star). Mirror deletes the tsunami of negative reviews that are posted on here. Just look at number of reviews (7) and then see that there is only one 5 star review that's actually visible. Prior to the most recent purge of these reviews, there was atleast ten 1 star reviews and they have swept them all under the rug. If you have insurance and/or you're not court ordered into treatment, do yourself and your family a favor and go to Valley Hope or literally any other treatment facility. This place is the last stop on the treatment circuit before incarceration. To the staff- I just ask that maybe, just maybe you read this, and all of the other reviews and try to look at these statements not as attacks on your character by some drug addled delinquents; but as opportunities for real growth that can be earned as a community, and eventually shared amongst the broader community that we all call home. Until then, I'll keep checking back and keep leaving more encouraging reviews! My Dr is here and I like the staff altho they get busy sometimes.

This place is really a good place. Most of the old reviews on here were from the past. We got a new director and she is doing her absolute best. This place is of course isn't perfect, and it is under a lot of work. The staff have their days, and us clients don't help situations because we aren't the easiest to work with. Most reviews for this place isn't right it's children trying to hurt the company because they did their job.

They were helpful to me

Reading the other reviews made me worry about sending my kid here, but our experience was much different. I felt they took good care of my kid. Communication was great. Visits were easy and enjoyable. The family safety plan helped us understand why this happened. They gave us resources to help prevent this from happening again.

Great place, great staff!

I was in Unit 8 a few times, and it was the best stay ever. They had a good structured day, detailed schedule, very helpful treatment plans, wonderful staff. They are very accommodating and encouraging, and they have lots of goals for patients to reach, along with rewards. Shoutout to Nurse Cassie, Miss Shay, Miss Dominque, and Nurse Rodney!!

Staff here care about the youth in the facility and work hard to help the become successful.

I have never waited for my appointment. Care is top notch. Having had several disorders in the family, I know a good doctor when I experience it! Wouldn't go anywhere else. .

I see Dr. Karim. I have for a few years now, and I really like him. I do not feel rushed when I see him, and I feel that when I have concerns or questions, that he takes the time to answer them fully. The issues I have are more in regard to attempting to contact the practice by telephone. It can be tough especially during early morning or other peak phone times. While their website has good information on it, I wish they would incorporate some sort of portal, to handle the more routine non-emergency requests between the patient and provider.

There was a time out room that the staff put you in if you did something wrong. I remember one of dormmates would always get picked on based on his name.

I won't pretend to understand how challenging social work is. It takes a special person to invest themselves in doing something for others because it is right while knowing that they will never see or hear the positive results of their care. I don't know how they do it, but the staff here can help you understand the complexity of trauma and the seemingly insurmountable tangle of events that occur before, during and after. This is only possible through a diverse network of supportive services. A comprehensive approach from shelters, counseling, childrens play therapy and on; they offer the greatest hope of a stable future for victims and family's. They also have an amazing program for perpetrators of domestic violence. Holding individuals accountable and offering a path to being a better non-abusive person. Reach out and they'll help. If they can't do it directly due to the overwhelming demand on them, they can at least offer other resources. And if you ever get a chance, thank them for the lives they've touched and never knew they have saved.

Synergy Services helped me and my daughter after a formerly trusted adult male in my home was inappropriate around my 15 year old daughter.
