About South Texas Rural Health Services — Devine Behavioral Health

South Texas Rural Health Services (STRHS) is a Joint Commission-accredited healthcare network serving rural Texas communities. The Devine Behavioral Health facility in Devine, Texas is one of their outpatient substance use recovery and mental health clinics. This facility provides evidence-based substance use treatment that includes medication-assisted treatment for adults and youths aged 13 to 17 years.

They offer integrated care that encompasses primary medical and dental care, behavioral healthcare and wellness support. Their network includes seven licensed substance abuse clinics, four wellness centers and 10 mental healthcare facilities. They accept several insurances including Medicaid, Medicare and CHIP. They also offer sliding fee scale discounts to uninsured clients or families with incomes below 200% of the federal poverty level. They accept referrals from the legal system and self-referral.

Integrated Care For General Wellbeing

STRHS offers intake assessment and personalized treatment planning followed by outpatient therapy groups and individual sessions. Treatment is recovery-oriented with a focus on equipping clients with practical tools that promote sobriety and prevent relapse.

The adult sessions address marital problems, alcohol and drug use and anger/stress. The youth session may tackle self-esteem and peer pressure among others. Both programs incorporate medication-assisted treatment (MAT), especially for clients dealing with opioid use issues. MAT means using FDA-approved meds to curb cravings and manage painful withdrawal symptoms.

Their MAT emphasizes the involvement of your family and friends to help strengthen your support network. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to engage in fitness training at the wellness center in another part of the building. The program includes structured exercises and nutrition. This supports physical health, boosts mood and aids in the overall recovery process. You can also access preventive care including infectious disease screening & testing at the primary medical care.

Individuals who use drugs intravenously are at risk of HIV and Hepatitis infection due to the sharing of needles, so getting tested here can ensure early detection and prevent community spread.

I been here before a few time. New people. My last experience wasnt good with all my teeth that where worked on. Many fillings just sharp pieces broke off i guess called flashing and it was on 2 teeth one my middle then canine. I had tooth pain on one that took forever to get fixed so I never really got out of pain because another tooth is just bad in the area. The guy before took pride in his work and went through each one and fixed the tooth nice. His work and stuff I will always remember. Dental school before him did good work too. Im upset and even called about something wrong with tooth and spent each weekend so far in pain and something is wrong and I tried to tell her and never got a call back anymore. I feel bad and I showed other concerned areas and it seemed funny because apparently they are all just gonna fall out anyway ha ha ha laugh it off but it hurt my feelings and its stuck in my head. I wanna give up on them . Im disabled and also dealing with many other things the least someone could have fixed would have been my teeth which I paied and she went through all them but something is definitely wrong with all that and I have definitely seen the difference in people sadly. This place isnt worth it anymore and not like it use to be

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Rehab aftercare programs are based on a model of continuing care and the premise that recovery is a life-long process requiring ongoing client support. Many rehab aftercare services include outpatient care, but clients often continue to receive support after being discharged from formal treatment. Case managers and care teams typically collaborate with clients to design their long-term care plan, which may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction, among other services.

Ridding the body of harmful, addictive substances, also known as detoxification, is usually the first phase of recovery. Those going through medically assisted detox can be administered medications by a team of medical professionals who are on-site 24/7 to provide different types of therapies that help mitigate withdrawal symptoms.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Couples therapy helps couples learn to control emotions, trust each other, and communicate more effectively. It can be useful for short term intervention for a specific issue or for working on the relationship long term.

The purpose of family therapy is to create a supportive and understanding family dynamic within the family unit. Therapists help individual members to identify and change harmful behavior patterns and improve communication. This provides a stable foundation for the family and their loved one's recovery.

The right life skills training will help you build the skills you need for recovery. You'll learn how to solve problems, improve your social life, enhance your mental health, and make good decisions. This is a key component of drug rehab programs in Texas.

What you eat has a significant effect on your mental and physical health. That's why many addiction recovery programs in Texas incorporate nutrition therapy in their treatment. This therapy teaches you how addiction affects nutrition, what foods are best to eat during recovery, and how to shop for and prepare healthy meals.

First off, it's tough to find good mental health care without health insurance. Rural Health can handle all your needs, from medical and dental to counseling. It's hard and nerve-wracking to get the strength and courage to go to counseling. I'm thankful for Christina Felicity and her warm and welcoming ways.
