About Susan B. Anthony Recovery Center – Closed
The Susan B. Anthony Recovery Center was in Pembroke Pines, Florida. They’re closed now, but they offered residential and outpatient treatment for clients with addictions and co-occurring mental health disorders.
They accepted insurance from many providers, including Medicaid. They offered scholarships to eligible clients and had an income based sliding fee scale.
Accommodating Mothers in Residential Addiction Treatment
One of the distinctive aspects of this program was the residential beds for children. The program accommodated mothers with children by reserving beds for their children. Mothers could rest assured that their children were well taken care of in the onsite childcare services while they were in their treatment sessions.
The program treated pregnant and postpartum women. Victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence found compassionate treatment from the staff at this facility. The staff used multiple therapy modalities for treatment, as well as 12 step facilitation.
A Healing and Supportive Environment in Pembroke Pines
Former clients praised the center for its effective programs and supportive environment. Other clients mentioned the staff’s role in helping mothers rebuild their lives and regain custody of their children.
The residential facility was on a 5.5 acre campus about seven miles from the Topeekeegee Yugnee Park. The park features a scenic lake and two miles of paved paths for jogging, skating, biking, or walking.
Empowering Women Through Addiction Treatment
The center took a holistic approach to treatment, addressing mental health and substance use simultaneously while treating the mind, body, and spirit. The program focused on assisting women to become independent and responsible.
The program transformed families through hope, help, and healing. Because so many women deal with past trauma, the therapists offered trauma informed care.
They also offered comprehensive support services. These included assisting women with housing, employment, and childcare. These support services were key in facilitating a successful transition to self sufficiency.

I went through SBA in 2011...I learned so much about myself as a addict,A mom and a woman... it was the best treatment center and most realistic, we had different levels on which privileges, rules and stages as to wether we were allowed a cellphone at the time to wether you could leave for work, I had gained employment when there as a server via Ihop on university drive and I truly shouldn't have worried about employment, was in the program 9 months to the day!!! When I graduated returning home to west coast of collier county...I was ready for life not just stepping out of rehab day one waiting to fail!!! The programs staff was amazing to

Levels of Care
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
The first step of the recovery process involves the removal of all drugs and alcohol from your system while under 24/7 medical supervision. Known as a medically assisted detox, you are closely monitored by medical staff who can provide medications, if necessary, to help alleviate any potential withdrawal symptoms. Medical detox is usually followed by a period of inpatient addiction treatment.
Often referred to as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers an intensive treatment option that allows individuals to return home at night. PHP treatment typically requires a minimum of 20 hours a week for an average of 90 days. Participants attend daily therapeutic sessions, receive medication management, and have access to skilled medical professionals. While costs can vary, most insurance will fully or partially cover a partial hospitalization program.
Treatments
The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.
Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.
Therapists who apply cognitive behavioral therapy in Florida believe patient thoughts and behaviors are closely linked. They use this treatment method to help clients change their thought patterns so they can also change behaviors and break free from substance abuse.
Dialectical behavior therapy in Florida consists of individual therapy and group instruction. This structured program is a form of psychotherapy that incorporates the development of skills for managing emotions and relationships.
As a short term therapeutic method, motivational interviewing in Florida requires only a couple of sessions. During these sessions, you'll have the opportunity to talk about your circumstances and any discrepancies between your current situation and future goals. You'll then decide for yourself what changes you want to make.
