About Teen Challenge Women’s Center
The Teen Challenge Women’s Center up in Pella, Iowa used to be a place where women went to get their lives back on track, operating under the Teen Challenge way of doing things. It was dedicated to helping women deal with life’s big challenges like addiction, mental health and co-occurring disorders to set them on a path toward lasting change. Unfortunately this facility has now closed.
Faith Based Addiction Treatment for Women
When it was running, the programs were all about a Christian based recovery model that really leaned into Bible studies to help folks find strength and guidance. It was a long haul kind of program, typically around a year to eighteen months aimed to help the whole person. They aimed to beat addiction but also focusing on spiritual, emotional and physical health and even education.
Clients followed a structured daily routine, which included counseling, learning everyday life skills, and getting into some vocational training. Clients could explore career skills like automotive mechanic skills, carpentry and even culinary arts.
Emphasizing Personal Growth for Recovery
What really made Teen Challenge stand out was how much they focused on spiritual growth and building up personal discipline. The whole idea of reconnecting with faith and becoming part of a supportive community really set it apart from other programs.
And when it comes to leaving the program, the main goal of Teen Challenge is always to arm people with everything they need for long-term sobriety. That meant building character, getting into good routines, and finding a sense of purpose that would stick, helping women keep on their recovery path and live meaningful lives after the program finished.
Addiction Treatments
Treatments
The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.
Drug rehab in Iowa is available in many formats. A variety of inpatient and outpatient options provide programs that are tailored to individual needs, making recovery possible for everyone.
Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.
Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.
