I have had 2 Therapist at SIMHC that became more like close friends to me. They have given me tools to deal with the loss of my son. Mental health is a very tough field right now and the shortage of licensed providers make it very challenging for facilities. On August 16th, I delivered my twin boys, Ozzy and Jameson, and the entire process was seamless from start to finish. Dr. Summers expertise and calming confidence made it possible for me to have a natural delivery, even with my second twin arriving breech. Couldn’t be more thankful for the amazing birth experience I had. The nurses and doctors are genuinely the best. Dr. Goodejohn provided me with so much peace throughout my entire high risk pregnancy, L&D, & am extremely blessed she delivered my baby.. Dr. Summers is just as great & is very calm & reassuring. Nurses are very respectful and go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable, are very respectful about coming in for checks throughout the night, and privacy. I have been using this clinic for a long time and have had nothing but good experiences. The staff has always been great and I've received the care I needed when I needed it. I feel the VA gets bad press because of a few isolated incidents and people giving bad reviews tend to be the loudest. I know of a few other veteran friends of mine that have had great service as well from the VA.

This was my first rehabilitation program at age 47. I imagined it to be a strict, hosptal like setting, but the Ranch is unlike anything I've ever experienced. As tough as rehabilitation and sobriety is to initiate and maintiain, the guidance, amenities, beautiful landscape, recreation, after care, and of course the 5 star meals made this a miracle. There is a vast amount of programs, exercises, holistic practices, and sense of sprituality that makes ths place unique from any other treatment center. Attending the Top of the World Ranch is a God send. I will never forget this experience, as everyoe that made this possible are now my family.

Top of The World Ranch is an amazing Rehabilitation Center. This is the third VA facility I've dealt with. They are the best by far. When I have to bring my young children with me, the staff are always so friendly and interactive eith them. Not every visit has gone as planned, but the hiccups were understandable and efforts were made to mitigate them.

Cfr has literally changed my life in such positive ways I never thought were possible. I was an extremely lost and addicted individual. After 21 of my 34 years of life being helplessly addicted to a number of drugs and gambling my life away, I received a call. The lady on the phone said her name was Shea and asked if I was ready to get help. I don't think I went after that phone call but it got me thinking about my life and the second time she called I knew I needed to at least try, as I was literally on the brink of death. So I did I called my sister and had her take me to guide links.
Cfr saved my life that day and started me on my journey to living a sober life filled with happiness and endless support. My family has began trusting and supporting me as well and I know if it had not been for cfr I would not be where I am at today.
There were a number of individuals at CFR crucial in my successful recovery. Starting with all of the residential techs guiding me through my initial withdraws and struggle I endured while in residential. Successfully graduating me from that program.
Knowing I had a battle ahead of me cfr enrolled me into there IOP program where I'd like to give a shout out to the staff of all cfr. Nancy, Ronda, Hailey, Weller, and Lori you all have changed my life and I am forever grateful... I am 90 days sober today and happier than I ever thought possible.
I attend church every Sunday and also continue my recovery in eop through cfr. I have found happiness and sobriety thanks to all of you at CFR and only hope anyone out there struggling with addiction can also find you guys and receive this gift of a good life as I have.

Regarding the walk-in intake, So far I have done intake and the process for that was long. They started at 10am but I had already been there since 8:12am waiting. I was the last person they accepted that day totalling 4 of us. I had to wait until each person in front of me was done, about 45 mins to 1 hour each. I was there a total of about 5 hours beginning to end. At the end you schedule a follow-up and it was 3 weeks out. Once you check in theoretically you could leave but about 2 hours in the called me in to verify my financial info. So I just stayed.

I’ve unfortunately been to 9 inpatient treatments in Iowa and Hazelden in Minnesota. Powell is easily the best one in Iowa and their programming and staff are right on par with Hazelden. Which is one of the best (maybe the best) treatment in the USA. I highly recommend Powell if you or a loved one is serious about getting sober. They know what it takes to get sober and more importantly what to do to stay sober! 5 ⭐️

The care that I received was spectacular. Yet, being in the ER overnight before a bed was available was interesting. To hear the staff at the counters and the Chief of Police comments about DEI was mind blowing, upsetting, and sad. The comments and how they felt were mean, ignorant, and callus about it made my time in the ER extremely uncomfortable while I was being treated by the kind nurses. I asked questions. The response I received was nothing less than racist. I was glad that I was treated by nurses that were professional, kind, and concerned about the care of a Veteran, but to the others, a disgrace. To compare DEI to Affirmative action was truly mind blowing and ignorance. That's just part of the conversations I've heard. SMH

I have been to the VA in St Louis New Orleans all over the country of many different VA's. Iowa City and Fayetteville Arkansas are probably two of the best. I only had one bad experience at Iowa City when an asshole doctor didn't want to do his job in the ER. But everyone else there is awesome. I've received more help from Iowa City than any other hospital or VA care facility in the country. I don't live in the area anymore but I still travel over 100 mi to use Iowa city's VA. To me it's the best.
