I am so glad I moved all my care here. Every time I come in, everyone helps me. The volunteers, receptions, lab techs, radiology techs, CT techs, my doctors. I would be lost without these people. They listen and have given my hope back. As I say healthcare is not a one size fits all. It's a partnership. Just to be heard and taken seriously, huge. I let them know how much I appreciate them. I was an extremely lost and addicted individual. After 21 of my 34 years of life being helplessly addicted to a number of drugs and gambling my life away, I received a call. The lady on the phone said her name was Shea and asked if I was ready to get help. I don't think I went after that phone call but it got me thinking about my life and the second time she called I knew I needed to at least try, as I was literally on the brink of death. So I did I called my sister and had her take me to guide links.
Cfr saved my life that day and started me on my journey to living a sober life filled with happiness and endless support. My family has began trusting and supporting me as well and I know if it had not been for cfr I would not be where I am at today.
There were a number of individuals at CFR crucial in my successful recovery. Starting with all of the residential techs guiding me through my initial withdraws and struggle I endured while in residential. Successfully graduating me from that program.
Knowing I had a battle ahead of me cfr enrolled me into there IOP program where I'd like to give a shout out to the staff of all cfr. Nancy, Ronda, Hailey, Weller, and Lori you all have changed my life and I am forever grateful... I am 90 days sober today and happier than I ever thought possible.
I attend church every Sunday and also continue my recovery in eop through cfr. I have found happiness and sobriety thanks to all of you at CFR and only hope anyone out there struggling with addiction can also find you guys and receive this gift of a good life as I have.
I love you all and if there is anyway I could help in any way it would be my pleasure.
God bless you all, and thank you for giving me the tools I needed to succeed in my journey to sobriety.

Regarding the walk-in intake, So far I have done intake and the process for that was long. They started at 10am but I had already been there since 8:12am waiting. I was the last person they accepted that day totalling 4 of us. I had to wait until each person in front of me was done, about 45 mins to 1 hour each. I was there a total of about 5 hours beginning to end. At the end you schedule a follow-up and it was 3 weeks out. Once you check in theoretically you could leave but about 2 hours in the called me in to verify my financial info. So I just stayed.

Honestly I was just trying to get through the day at that point. But being there felt… different than I thought it would. The first thing I noticed was how people talked to me. Not in that overly careful way, just normal. That actually mattered more than I expected. I didn’t feel like I had to explain myself too much or pretend I was okay when I wasn’t.Detox itself was still rough, I’m not gonna pretend it wasn’t. There were a couple of days where I was just sitting there thinking why did I even start this. But someone was always checking in, sometimes just briefly, sometimes longer, and it kind of kept me from drifting too far into my own head. What stuck with me isn’t even one specific moment. It’s more the general feeling that people were paying attention without making it a big thing. Like they cared, but didn’t overdo it. Hard to explain exactly.By the time I left, I didn’t suddenly feel like a completely different person or anything dramatic like that. Just… steadier, I guess. A bit more clear. And that was enough to feel like I could keep going from there.I’d probably tell someone to give it a try if they’re on the fence. It’s not perfect, but it helped me more than I expected. 🙏

What stood out to me over time was how connected the staff actually felt as a team, though I didn’t fully notice it right away. From intake through daily check ins, people seemed to know what was going on with me without needing me to repeat the same details over and over, which was a relief I didn’t expect. Nurses, counselors, support staff, and coordinators worked together in a way that felt intentional and respectful, not rushed or scattered.
I never felt passed around or overlooked, even on quieter days. Small things started to matter more than big gestures, like someone remembering my goals or noticing when I was having an off day without me saying much. Group sessions were guided well, but not overcontrolled, and one on one time felt focused, not hurried, which made it easier to stay present.
There was a balance between professionalism and something more human that I hadn’t really experienced before. I’m in my mid twenties and tend to be skeptical by default, so trust doesn’t come easily for me. Still, this place earned it over time, mostly because the people running things actually communicated with each other.
That consistency created a sense of safety and momentum, even on harder days when motivation was low. It wasn’t flashy or impressive on the surface, but it was solid, and for me, that made all the difference.

When I arrived at KIA Detox, I wasn’t sure I could really make progress again, or if I was just repeating the same cycle. The first few days were challenging, but instead of pushing me to look too far ahead, the program helped me focus on small steps, which made things feel less overwhelming. As time went on, I started noticing changes in how I handled stress and how consistently I showed up for daily routines, though it didn’t feel dramatic in the moment. Each milestone, getting through detox, staying engaged in therapy, added a bit more confidence, even on days when I still doubted myself. The staff kept the focus on growth rather than setbacks, which mattered more than constant reassurance. By the end of my stay, I could see the progress more clearly looking back than I could while I was in it. I didn’t leave feeling finished, but I did feel more prepared to continue recovery with a sense of stability and a little more confidence than before.
