I recently completed a 31-day stay at a dual diagnosis program in Venice. Overall, it was a positive and meaningful experience. I connected well with the staff and genuinely appreciated their support and professionalism. One drawback for me was how often the patio door was left open, mostly by the staff — flies would come in and out constantly, and it became distracting and uncomfortable at times. One situation early on was extremely unnerving and triggering. The first weekend, I shared a room with two younger girls, one of whom was only 18. That girl left a meeting, stole alcohol from a liquor store, drank some, and brought the rest back to our room. I only knew this because I could smell the alcohol, and my other roommate confided in me. She would disappear for hours and return intoxicated. This continued for three consecutive nights. Her behavior quickly became disruptive—she was aggressive toward my other roommate and even called me unkind names. Despite this, she was not asked to leave, nor was she transferred to a facility with a higher level of care. In my opinion, the situation was mishandled, and it made me feel unsafe. The groups themselves were good, though repetitive at times—we covered the same material multiple times. I still learned a lot and benefited from the therapeutic structure. Unfortunately, I feel most of the work we did was aimed toward mental health and not addiction. The staff were supportive, but the property itself wasn’t well maintained. There was a rodent problem and an ongoing issue with flies, especially since the patio door was often left open. Overall, I’d say my experience was pleasant and I gained value from it.

Clearview has truly changed my life more than I could have ever expected! I recently got discharged from the Dual Diagnosis Program about 2 weeks ago, and I am doing SO much better than I was before coming to Clearview! I flew here from Illinois, and I was very nervous since I didn't know what to expect. Gratefully, I felt very safe and comfortable from the start! (Special thanks to Penny for making me feel calm during my intake!) I have learned so many DBT skills that I continue to use every single day since I have been home. My favorite things about this program are that we get a personal chef who makes delicious meals and nobody is left hungry (Jojo is the BEST and SO funny!!!), we attend meetings at least 5 times a week, we get to go on outings for around 2 hours on Saturday or Sunday, and there is only 9 clients max to a house!! It allows us to make very close connections with the other clients that are in the house, and staff can tend to our needs a lot faster/better! The house is pretty clean, and housemaids come multiple times a week (they are super nice too!) No residential place is perfect, and my only complaint is that the Techs were never really on the same page, and communication needs to be better between the staff. But overall, it was a positive experience, and I never thought that I was capable of beating my addiction, and thanks to Clearview, I was so wrong!! Special thanks to the nurse, Lexi, who was always beyond kind and fun to talk to. Also, the techs Shaun, Chris, Ariana, Daniel, Jessica, Ryan, Sofia (pretty sure I'm spelling her name wrong haha) and Emily! You are all so kind and genuine, and you could all make me feel better on my bad days. I would go back to Clearview if I had to, as well as recommend it to a friend. I felt truly cared about and seen here. Thank you, Clearview!!! :))

Before I came here, I was really lost. Years after years since I was 14. I have BPD and Bipolar 1. The staff are so nice especially Penny(who picked me up at the mental hospital when I was discharged) also Chris, Daniel, Max, Jessica, The med nurse Lexi. I made so many friends here with the clients and staff. I was welcomed here really well and I was treated with respect and kindness. I really recommend Clearview Treatment Center. A thing I learned and that I will always remember is that I learned patience. This place saved me. I'm on my way to success. I feel really glad that I came here. If you are struggling with mental health, as much as I didn't want help, I got it and it made me a better person and I'm excited for my journey. :)

Accepted Insurance

Clearview Treatment Programs – Walnut Avenue works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

At Clearview's Grandview Treatment Center, there were many different skills that were taught to me that can be used in my day-to-day life. The most helpful part of treatment has been group therapy sessions. In these sessions, we did not only learn Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills, but we also learned life skills, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). The food was the best that I have had in my life. Some of the best Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) include Daniel, Johanna, and Natasha. Some of the best therapists include Colby, Marc, and Jennifer. Thank you Clearview for all of the work that you have helped me with.

The dual program was so beneficial for instilling self awareness, compassion, and a service oriented mindset. The staff truly cares, with many being in recovery themselves (shoutout to Max, Mia, Daniel, Tasha, and Chris who showed up so well for me). I loved attending the educational groups and having my medication managed by the nurse practitioner, Kate.
