The facilities at Hanley Center at Origins - Family & Outpatient in West Palm Beach, FL 3

About Hanley Center

Hanley Center in West Palm Beach, Florida, has been providing individuals with treatment for addictions since 1984. They treat addictions to a wide range of substances, including alcohol, fentanyl, and meth. The facility features both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services, along with specialized services to support recovery.

Treatment Tailored to Unique Needs

One thing I like about Hanley Center is they have various treatment programs tailored to specific populations. They have specific inpatient programs available for impaired professionals, pregnant women and their babies, and older adults.

The impaired professionals program is designed for individuals in affluent careers who need healing from substance use disorder. The professionals who receive this service range from doctors and nurses to executives and lawyers. The staff will work with you to get you back in your career as soon as possible.

The older adult program tailors addiction treatment for seniors and individuals in mid life. The staff recognizes that your body composition is different from that of an 18 year old, so detox will focus on both eliminating substances from your body and addressing the medical concerns unique to your age range.

Holistic Care in West Palm Beach

Along with evidence based therapies, the staff will utilize holistic treatments such as experiential therapy and spiritual care to help with your recovery. The experiential therapy activities you might participate in include beach experiences and guided morning stretches. These activities can reduce your stress and help you feel less need to use substances.

As you’re recovering in West Palm Beach, you’ll have many opportunities to practice stress management through activities you can do in town. One relaxing activity you might consider is visiting the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens. Lake Mangonia is also within driving distance while Fogelman Park is just a couple of blocks over.

Hanley is the reason I am where I am today. I am one month shy of having 10 years sober, I work in the field, and I would not have any of that without the dedication of Hanley staff. That place saved my life 10 years ago, and I will eternally be grateful.

(1 Star)My experience at The Hanley Center was deeply concerning. I came in expecting professional, patient-first care, but what I encountered was an institution that prioritizes image and financial interests over genuine recovery. My Personal Experience at HanleyFrom the beginning, I noticed a disconnect between the staff s public messaging and their actual treatment approach. Some employees were kind and truly cared, but the overall culture felt more like a business operation than a true recovery center.I personally experienced issues with how patients were treated not as individuals with unique needs, but as part of a system focused on optics and fundraising. There were moments when I felt like I was being managed rather than helped. The support I expected to receive felt transactional rather than deeply rooted in personalized care. One of the most difficult experiences I had was during an emotional crisis when I struggled to find anyone to talk to.I walked around the campus, desperately searching for a staff member who would listen. I reached out multiple times, but instead of receiving the help I needed, I was met with avoidance and, in some cases, dismissal.Rather than addressing what I was going through, emails were sent about me instead of to me. The narrative became about me being a concern rather than a person in need of support. For a place that promotes a trauma-informed approach, I didn t feel like my trauma was being met with care I felt like I was being labeled. Concerns About Leadership & ExpertiseThe Hanley Center is run by Hanley Foundation, led by Dr. Rachel Docekal. What I didn t realize before coming in was that she has no background in addiction treatment, psychology, or medicine. Her expertise is in business and philanthropy not clinical care. This made me question whether the real priority was patient recovery or financial gain. Public Image vs. RealityHanley heavily promotes its branding and philanthropy, but where is the transparency on patient outcomes? They showcase select success stories, yet I saw people struggling without the tailored support they truly needed. Financial & Ethical ConcernsI personally witnessed questionable financial practices, and after leaving, I saw reports of billing disputes and legal issues connected to Hanley. If the goal is truly helping people, why are there recurring concerns about money over patient well-being? A Divisive EnvironmentEmployee reviews and client experiences vary drastically some praise Hanley, while others describe a toxic culture focused on reputation rather than results.Instead of openly addressing concerns, Hanley seems to focus more on controlling the narrative than improving the experience for patients. Final Thought:If The Hanley Center truly prioritizes recovery, why do so many patients and employees report the same concerns?I urge anyone considering Hanley to research deeply, ask questions, and seek transparency before committing.Recovery should always be about the patient not the institution s image.

Accepted Insurance

Hanley Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Clients typically choose inpatient rehab when they are in early recovery or are experiencing a crisis that puts them at an increased risk of relapse. They reside at the treatment center for the length of their program, which may range from two weeks to more than 18 months, depending on the program design. Intensive psychotherapy is often the primary treatment modality, but clients in inpatient care may also receive holistic treatment and recovery-focused life skills training.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are a collection of highly individualized services designed to promote long-term recovery. These services evolve as your needs change. Case managers and recovery teams typically begin formulating the rehab aftercare service plan early in the recovery process to facilitate your reintegration back into the home, workplace, and community.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
If a person with a substance use disorder continually denies their problem or refuses to get treatment, a drug intervention in Florida may be necessary. Intervention services can help mediate the intervention by providing an addiction expert. This professional can de-escalate situations and facilitate a healthier discussion between the individual and their loved ones. Specialists can also help families handle issues they don't know how to navigate on their own.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in Florida is an essential part of treatment, particularly with medical detox. Withdrawal symptoms can be severe, and supervised detox provides around the clock access to medical professionals who can adminsiter proper medications and treatment to address these symptoms and step in should an emergency occur. This intensive clinical care will help curb the withdrawal effects, minimize substance dependence, and prepare you for the next step of treatment.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
The first step of the recovery process involves the removal of all drugs and alcohol from your system while under 24/7 medical supervision. Known as a medically assisted detox, you are closely monitored by medical staff who can provide medications, if necessary, to help alleviate any potential withdrawal symptoms. Medical detox is usually followed by a period of inpatient addiction treatment.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills are the core skills you need for daily success. They can include self care, stress management, daily routines, and emotion control. Rehab treatment includes the development of these skills so you have the tools you need for long term recovery.

Substance abuse creates biochemical imbalances in your body and brain. By implementing dietary changes, you can restore that balance. This is the goal of nutrition therapy in Florida. You'll gain an understanding of what nutrients your body needs and learn best self care practices.

Your mind, body, and emotions interact in complex ways. Experiential therapy addresses all three of these aspects. Interactive and creative activities provide physical sensations and evoke emotional responses. These offer insight into how you interact with the world and any negative patterns you need to change.
